Green out indefinitely.

Mike Green is sidelined indefinitely after seeing an infectious disease specialist.  He has been fighting fatigue and is believed to have had a viral infection that attacked his liver.

With Green being out leaves them with 5 d-men and likely to start 2 of Sulak, Hicketts, Cholowski or Hronek.  There is also a good chance they could snag someone off the waiver wire, make a trade or look to acquiring a remaining FA.

@hf101

Sae that. Not good news, as Green was pretty much our only D-man with any kind of offensive production. One of the kids will have to step up, because our other D-men have shown that they can’t do it.

I’d just assume the Wings wait and try to find a better D-man when one becomes available and develop our prospects earlier than we might otherwise want than pick up scraps.

Yeah it sucks but I am gonna go with glass half full, lol.

@SpikeDDS  I have been reading that Hronek is a lock to make the team even before the Green situation, this may force them to keep Cholowski as well. In a perfect world we have Green in the lineup from day one but this may force us to give a couple of the kids a look as Kronwall is certainly not the answer anymore, Ericsson never was, Jensen is hopeless and Daley and Dekeyser are both useful but are limited offensively. In a perfect world, by the time Green is back Cholo and Hronek are established and with the reinsertion of Green we can run an offensive blueliner on every pair.

Sulak is looking like a good option to keep up as well. He has surprised me quite a bit with his play. The team won't be good this year, but it will be interesting to see how the prospects develop.

Yeah I love the constant influx of kids on the back end such as Sulak, Hicketts, Hronek and Cholowski. Vaarjarvi may even get some time as well. Not saying any are the next Lidstrom but all bring different things to the table which we have desperately needed on the back end.

  Sulak in particular has been fun to watch this preseason, I always study the kids in the preseason games watching once with the sound on and the second time with the volume muted (I have way to much time on my hands, lol) and he looks like a real prospect to me. He reminds me quite a lot of Ruslan Salei, not afraid to play the body but a bit of skill mixed in as well. He could definitely bring something to the bottom pair.
