  1. The last time the Islanders were demonstrably offsides, the officials ignored the evidence and gave the Flyers a penalty instead. I guess it made them gun shy.
  2. Tony, Al and Mike are sitting down for dinner. Plates of food are set down in front of Mike and Al. Tony says "But Tony is hungry also!" Mike and Al, with food in front of them, declare "We're all hungry!" They eat and then they shoot Tony. Maybe you want to rethink your narrative or develop some empathy.
  3. I want to eventually see a picture of young "Gavers" sitting in the Stanley Cup, yes I do.
  4. Absolutely, we should never be hoping for a correct offsides call vs. the Islanders, even if we "deserve" a payback. So here's my new narrative: the Islanders expended so much energy to come back, only to be defeated, while the Flyers took the third period off. This means the Flyers should coast to an easy victory on the second half of the back to back. Yeah, that's the ticket.
  5. Well, fellas, that was more excitement than I needed for a Wednesday afternoon. Or maybe the exact right dose.
  6. In this day and age, why don't they have high speed cameras to determine offsides? The all telling frame that shows the Islanders were indeed offsides is missing. I take it back, the frame IS there. The puck is about 6" into the zone just as the leaving Islander's skate touches the blue line: Offsides.
  7. Is Leon Stickle still alive? My bladder has a longstanding date with his grave.
  8. Redhook Long Hammers while the sun is up, and then... the scotch is gone... the tequila is gone... rum it is!
  9. All they have to do is get 9 goals in their next 25 power plays (~36%) to catch up to their regular season average.
  10. The two tripping penalties against the Flyers weren't just soft, they were complete fabrications. Webber crosschecking Couturier to the ice was about as blatant example as you're going to get. In a previous game, Ghost gets a holding penalty for merely "hover handing" a Hab with no contact, and in today's game they were letting all kinds of holding go. Do I want consistency in officiating? Yes. Do I expect it? Not anymore. The Habs are getting called for more penalties than the Flyers, but at least they are legit calls, unlike the phantom infractions the Flyers were called for. Damn, I got right into the spirit of ref bashing, even after a win. Getting salty in my early dotage, I am.
  11. I don't remember Lindbergh's personality off-ice, if the whole driving a Porsche into a church was wholly unexpected or not. I do remember being shocked as Hell, stunned like the rest of the Philly faithful.
  12. You, too? I beat you back here by only a couple of hours. I was cleaning out my bookmarks... and found this shiny old place. Who'd a thunk Hockey in August would bring us crawling out of the woodwork?
  13. Once the high of consecutive shutouts has worn off a bit, I'll go back and catch up with this thread and see if anyone has taken up the slack complaining about the lopsided officiating. Another "trip"?! Those weren't trips! for example. Just cleaning up bookmarks, and there this site was, waiting for me to rekindle!
  14. I once was lost, but now am found... I've missed you guys! Just in time to watch the Flyers finish off the Habs and then probably take on the Islanders.
