For some reason I'm thinking Mesz and/or Read is gone draft day along w our 11 to move up.

I was never too impressed with Reimer...I think Bernier unseats him during the season.

Or it shows what the media was reporting the Kings wanted was incorrect. Read for Bernier would've been a better deal for LA in my opinion. I think the Leafs just got a lot better. I was hoping the Flyers would grab Bernier

My point was it doesn't matter who philly has in net, when the team plays bad the media and fans look for a single scapegoat and that's usually the goalie. Blaming one player is easier than saying its a bit of everything (which was the case this season imo).

Next season we'll be hearing the same things about Mason when he lets in bad goals. What is the common denominator? The media riles up the fans and the goalie ends up the scapegoat. Bryz has not played up to his contract, but this team was hell bent on signing the biggest name available that offseason. And as we all should know, part of the amount/length of contracts are supply/demand. It's a never ending cycle.

1) Pronger's salary may be covered by insurance and on LTIR it does not apply to the cap. The money is still being spent, regardless of source (and by having a $20M insurance problem, it almost certainly affects your rates).

2) I expect them to buy out Bryz after next season for the reason you cite.

3) I always expected Bryz to walk away from the last years of the deal. I expect him to be signed by another NHL squad, however. The Islanders appear to want half a dozen goalie under contract, so that's a possibility.

Its enfuriating when the team can't even lose right.

Perhaps the player about to be hit should drop to the ice to take his legs out from under him, causing a backwards somersault head first to the ice for Kronwall? Is it bad that I'd really like to see that?

So why the hell do they let Sestito walk for nothing. Could look at this as: Sestito and Rosehill for Harry Z.

Rux I do agree with u as far as the league taking good hits out of the game but this has nothing to do with that at this point. The hits Kronwall inflicts are always borderline but never seem to get a second look from Shanahan. Coincidence?

If he was a flyer he'd have been suspended 5 times by now.

I agree he's atrocious on breakaways and handling the puck but I can't blame him for letting up a goal on 3rd and 4th shots when the d can't clear the puck or clear the crease.

@BearOnIce So, you are saying Bryz does not have flawed fundamentals? Nothing he does throws up red flags? The very weak one on one play ie breakaways, shoot outs etc....how long it takes him to get back up when down? The horrible rebound control? How is the rebound control or any of the other skills I alluded to a "defensive" problem? Granted, the d is not great in front of him, but Bryz *is* the problem. He does not stop the simple shots that goalies are requred to stop....one or two softies each game, many of them his fault entirely.

Jammer...I have a ton of respect for u and u have an incredible amount of hockey knowledge. That being said, I have to disagree with u here. Bryz has his faults no doubt but it goes way deeper than that. This entire team has been just plain bad. And if Bryz was as bad as some people have said, how did he carry the Coyotes all those seasons? I know the team played a more defensive style but if Bryz was as inept as some make him out he wouldn't make an NHL squad!

Didn't anyone else see turnover after turnover? And we couldn't clear the puck all night. It's the team defense, in my opinion, that's killing this team.

I can't wait for the excuses once Bryz IS gone. The team is going to have "confidence" in front of Leighton or Boucher? He's a part of the problem but not THE problem.

he doesn't skate well, he's beaten everytime there is a one on one situation, in the context of a game when the goalie can make a big play to help cover a mistake and swing momentum, he comes up small 90% of the time this year, he inspires little confidence for the skaters to get deep on the forecheck and grind, because if there's a missed assignment and a decent outlet from the opposition it winds up in the net. when you're always looking over your shoulder it's hard to go forward.

bryz has been better , but he's not the guy for the team we have, and i'd say going forward he's not the guy for the team we want to have.

lunquist and rinne are both superior skaters and athletes to bryzgalov.

Well yes they're both much better but that was my point. And I think that's a weak excuse, the guys don't hang back and play close defense as if they're unsure of their goalie. They routinely fail to clear the puck, clear the crease, AND have horrible turnoves like Voracek tonight

I think snider is telling holmgren what he wants from behind the scenes (like has been said before). And I don't get why there's still so much hate towards Bryz? He's not the problem with this team. The entire team has been up and down. Bryz has made some awesome saves this year AND he's let in bad goals! Would any one here like our chances at the playoffs even if we had Lundqvist or Rinne in net? I think we'd still be in the boat we're in now.

Philly would love to have him, but what would it take? B.Schenn or Couturier as the forward? Voracek? Kinda thin on defense as it is.

Has neuvirth fallen off that bad this season? I don't believe Ovechkin will stay in his current slump, but yeah I prob gave one player too many in that scenario.

Yes I'm sleep deprived (newborn). With Scneider I can't see van wanting one of washington's young goalies. Then someone threw Ovechkin's name out there and got the NHL13 mind churning.

A game where ur goalie only lets in 2 should result in a win with a team like ours was last year. And Bryz does have to earn his pay but so does the rest of the team. Look at what happened when Leighton started.

Is it that crazy for me to think Bryz is going to bounce back this season?
