Hmmm, not looking good for Frosty and his new contract....
Being benched for 3 games in a row; so when is the trade coming?

So the Flyers finally signed the Russian goaltender.
I am wondering, what their plans is with him. They signed him to a 1 year contract for now.
Is this contract like a test run? Kind to see how his game is in the NHL?
If he does good, do they give him a multi year contract? Will he take over Hart's position as the #1 guy? If they decide to keep him, will they move Hart?
I just don't trust the management and I see nothing good coming from this

it appears 1st Rd pick for tonight and 2nd Rd in 2023.

Pick might have been moved...
Reported by Kevin Weekes on Twitter:
No word on the 2 picks yet

Damn and Montour might resign with Florida. So that leaves Savard as a top target.
I would kick the tires on the Duck's Josh Manson with one year left on his deal at 4.1 mill.
I also like Alex Martinez as an option. Another guy i like but would be more for the bottom pair is Jani Hakanpaa.
Chuckles might have to get creative if he doesn't move fast to fill the hole Myers left.
They'll end up with Jason Demers.....watch....
No no, not Demers. Chuckles will bring Suter yo Philly on another 11 year contract or something that long

According to Frank Seravalli, looks like Twarynski was selected from the Flyers

Looks like it is for a 5th and they also retain 25% of his salary

Raffl to the Caps for a 5th and 7th round pick.
Any salary retained?
Kind of bummed out about that trade, really liked Raffl, good versatile player.

Possible Raffl trade to Washington.
But I haven't seen anything from trustworthy hockey insiders yet

From Pierre Lebrun:
For a 7th RD pick in '22. And Flyers retain 50 percent salary/AAV So Gustafsson to Montreal for a 7th.
Why hold back some salary???

As for Seth Jones, to get him next season, it would have to be a trade with Columbus, and I doubt that Kekalainen moves him. With Foligno moved, he now becomes the face of the franchise, and probably their new captain. Anything is possible, but if you are to trade for him in the offseason, you need to resign him before the season ends as he will be a UFA. Makes no sense in trading for him for only one season.
Jones also has a Modified No Trade Clause, so he would have to agree to a move to Philly.

Why the push to sign Laughton NOW? Doesn't that take away one spot they'd have to protect in the expansion draft? Smarter to sign him after?
Maybe, but maybe not, if Fletcher made a deal with Seattle for them to take a certain player, they want off the books, similar to what some teams made with Vegas.

Other than that, my take is not much gets done today, but I suspect that the offseason will be busier (Well I hope). There will be a bunch of bad trades that will set the team back even further, similar to what happened in Minnesota, when Flether was there.

THIS JUST IN!!!!
If your team is struggling, come play the Flyers, they will make sure your players get out of their slumps.

Better yet, what are they still doing, on the Flyers?
I whish I knew...
I get that Ghost is a defensive liability, but after seeing those the past few games, that are not better. At least Ghost would get some points in on the PP.
I also think that this Flyers team need to bring up Morin. He would bring some physicality and some snarl; something they are severely lacking.

WTF are Gus and Prosser still doing on the ice???

Just saw this.
...Why?
I would imagine so they can either overpay Provy or to get a forward tomorrow

Well I would certainly try and peruse Kadri now.
The Leafs need to get a head start on preventing a Marner offer sheet....they need the cap space.
Kick the tires now before the new year starts.
Since this is coming from EK, I am not taking it for granted and not worth the loony that is in my pocket.
But EK said the following:
QuoteOn Gostisbehere for Kadri...
It is probably entirely connected to the uncertainty of the Hayes situation that this rumor is
gaining some steam. Kadri fits a need for the Flyers by giving them a second center with grit.
The Flyers were one of the least penalized teams and too easy to play against on many nights…Personally, I don't think that Kadri is worth Ghost, and if Toronto is trying to shed some salary, well this does not make sense for them, and Kadri and Ghost make the same salary. My thought is that if the Leafs and to ship Kadri to Philly, they might be looking for either Sanheim or Myers with either a pick or prospect or both

I just read the following on Spector's Hockey.
QuoteCANADIENS AND FLYERS TALKING ABOUT GOSTISBEHERE?
TVA SPORTS: cites NHL Network collaborators Dennis Bernstein and Anthony Di Marco claiming the Montreal Canadiens have been linked to Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere. There’s no deal pending between the two clubs.
Di Marco said the Flyers are interested in rugged Canadiens forward Andrew Shaw. Bernstein added Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher is also looking at speedy left wing Paul Byron.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Gostisbehere to Montreal for Shaw and Byron? I don’t see that one happening. Too lopsided in the Canadiens’ favor.
“The Ghost Bear” is a former Calder Trophy finalist (2016) who is a year removed from a career-high 65-point performance. While his production dropped to 37 points this season, I attribute that to the fact the Flyers were a mess this season. He would certainly address the Habs’ need for a skilled left-side blueliner.
Shaw is a physical player who can play center or wing and has a decent scoring touch. He also has a long history of injuries and takes too many undisciplined penalties. Losing Byron would rob the Canadiens of a fast-skating 20-goal scorer. That could be offset, however, via free agency or with one of their promising youngsters within their system.
Personally, I am not for this trade, for one, like Spector said, it would require more to come to Philly, before I would even think about it. Also, I am not sure that I would want o move Ghost just yet, I think that with better coaching, and a stable partner he would do better than this past season, heck the whole team will do better with better coaching, so got to hope that the AV team can get those guys to play better.
Although, I would not mind seeing Byron on the team, he and G have plaid together in Jr, and they seem to push each other and feed each other as well; plus they are still good friends. Now I am not saying that I would put Byron and G on the same line, but once in a whyle, it could not hurty. Plus getting a fast-skating 20 goal scorer, would not hurt the Flyers.

All this talk about possibly getting Subban, is all good, but the question should be the following:
Would Subban even want to come to Philly, to be reunited with a coach (Therrien) that he is know to have a volatile relationship with?

I just remembered that Mike Yeo was an assistant with the Pens. I forget who was the coach! It could have been Theirrien or Disco Dan Blysma?!
Therrien was the HC in Pitts and Yeo was AC, they made it to the SC finals in 08, but lost to Detroit. The next season, Therrien got canned and Yeo remain as an AC to Bylsma and won the cup.
So all three have experience coaching in the SC finals, with one of them actually winning it. So hopefully they can change the mentality of the players and make them winners.
-
So both AV and Therrien got there teams to the SC finals, but did not win it.
So they will teach this team how to win and make it in the playoffs, but lose the most important of the series.
Great!!!
-
CRAP!!!!!!!
Just remembered that Therrien coached the Pens.
Now I really don't like this hiring...

Trade: Cutter Gauthier traded to Anaheim for Jamie Drysdale and 2nd RD Pick
in Philadelphia Flyers

I guess that is what happens when you select a guy that was a die hard Pens fan.
Chucky should have known that; and that he would never suit up for the team he grew up hating.
Glad DB got something in return. Now Drysdale just need to stay healthy.
