  1. Similar to guys who have a great NFL combine and turn into colossal failures like Zac Wilson and Mike Mamula.
  2. I don’t see a 5 foot 9 ,156 lb guy being anyone’s top center, he could possibly be one of our centers as long as we have have the other prototypical centers. If the combined skill set of our top three centers possess a good blend of size, skill, speed , scoring, faceoff ability and play making ,then you are in business . Each center has to bring a different type of game ,so you can compete against any style team. We can’t be one dimensional., not too big and slow, not to small where we get pushed around. It would be great to have three McDavids but if we have three different types of centers who each possess a couple of the key ingredients, then you have balance to go up against anyone.
  3. We have some good young skill on RW, Tippett, Foerester, Brink and potentially Tuomalla. If we could trade Konecny for high pick in this draft and get a cant miss center, or for a top young center that's young , in the long run we'd have a more balanced team. No point in having four scoring right wings and no centers to set them up, especially if one RW wants 8 or 9 million.
  4. Keith Jones said it in a TV interview. He said even if we trade Seeler and Walker he'd be interested in bringing them back if they didn't sign with the teams they were traded to.
  5. Problem is, a thirty year old guy is not looking for a 2-3 year contract, they are looking for that big 5 year payday to take them to retirement . Especially two guys who never earned big money to begin with. I don't see a hometown discount, I see them chasing the biggest offer to set themselves up for retirement.
  6. They never learn. Signing these two creates several problems, you lose out on a chance to stockpile draft picks and expedite the rebuild and you block guys like Attard, Bonk,Ginning and Andrae. Seeler was on waivers a year ago, now he's a second pairing dman? Seeler and Walkers value will never be higher. We are not Cup contenders, these guys are gonna keep us just mediocre enough to pick 20th and to be a bubble playoff team. As we have all discussed, we need real #1 and 2 centers. Any assets we get in trading these guys and Laughton can be part of a package to move up and get a center.
  7. And you can be guaranteed that Seeler and Walker will return to their mediocre selves after the contracts are signed. Is it any coincidence two pending UFAs are having career seasons. Don't fall for it.
  8. Columbus actually was interested in Konecny, they have good young players and a top 10 pick..
  9. It's less a coaching issue, its more of a lack of finesse players and skill. Our PP and shootout ability has sucked for ages. We have had different head coaches, PP coaches and players and it didn't matter. The common denominator has been that we just don't have the right combination of players and skill level to have a successful PP. In order to have a good PP you need a true PP QB with good a good shot and creativity ,a skilled partner for that dman, a slick playmaker center to setup everyone, a finisher and a big LW to dominate the boards. Our PP is predictable, tne passes are all telegraphed and everything is on the perimeter, we rarely get clean shots or setup creative scoring chances. How is it that our 7th dman,Zamula seems to be our only dman who can get the puck on net. We have some younger players who have shown some potential on the PP,guys like Frost, Foerester and Drysdale, but none are consistent enough yet. Frost has setup skills, Foerester and Tippett have great shots, Drysdale has setup skating ability but none are doing enough on the PP. Maybe in time that will improve. York hasn't shown that he is a pp qb, Sanheim has great skill and was deadly in Juniors but isn't even on the PP and hasn't done enough to be a real threat. I would think Michkov and Bonk would help, but we can't expect rookies to come in and take over right away. We need to keep looking for some skilled players via trades and the draft and also hope our young guys especially York and Drysdale step up their game next year. It all starts with the defense rushing the puck and setting the plays up.
  10. If we can somehow land a first for both Laughton and Walker, then we have our first and Fla's, that's four picks. That's some ammunition to trade up for a center. I'm still hoping we go into a tailspin after we trade Walker and Seeler and drop into the bottom ten. I'd like to come away from this draft with a big skilled center and a big skilled dman .
  11. I liked the thought of two big wingers giving Frost lots of room to operate. Foerester has some size and plays the off wing,so maybe we can put him there. I still think we could use another skilled LW with some size and skating ability.
  12. The fact that they named TK assistant captain tells me to expect an announcement of a big long term contract extension. You don’t give a guy an A and trade him a month later.
  13. I can’t see us trading our only young skilled center for anything other than another young skilled center. I know they offered Frost to Ottawa for Pinto, I have never seen him play so I have no idea if that’s a good trade or not. One thing I see is Frost has great playmaking and puck skills ,which this team severely lacks. In the end it’s all about producing points, but I would like to see Frost stick around for another year and see how it goes. Initially I was envisioning a line of Frost with two snipers ,Tippett and Gauthier . I figured his numbers had to increase big time two big wingers who can create some space for who can really shoot the puck. Since Gauthier is gone, there goes that idea.
  14. There is a vast difference between McDavid and TK and we are a rebuilding team, that is weak in many areas, especially center. Our top center is over 30 with a bad back and we have no centers in the pipeline at all.
  15. For the most part ,they are useless If you hand them an 8 year,$8 million dollar contract. You might get 2-3 good years out of them, then it's a burden . Other than roid boy Barry Bonds and superhuman Jagr, most athletes start to decline at thirty. It also depends on the situation with your team, if we were true Cup contenders then you pay your key guys the contract and go for the Cup. When you are not even close, then in 4 years when your guy is 32 and diminished you are in cap hell as usual. If you are truly rebuilding and not delusional then if you can get three assets for a TK, them you make the deal if the assets are the right ones. Just stockpiling late first round picks isn't gonna be enough.
  16. I agree and have been saying the same thing for a long time. They just named him assistant captain, so expect an announcement of a huge , long term contract. They will probably hold on to Laughton , Seeler and Walker too for a first round playoff exit.
  17. It was Toronto and Vancouver, you have been stifled . Now go home and get your shine box.
  18. Shut up you ****, keep telling yourself you know anything about hockey.
  19. Risto getting minor upper body surgery, probably won't be back in time to be traded was drawing interest from a couple of teams..
  20. Ok , I understand that most employers will not back you, even if you are innocent but I wouldn't think that their careers should be over. I would think you can trade them to another team for a change of scenery. It's funny how Ray Lewis was covered in blood after his friends stabbed someone and he played for 15 years and is in the Hall of Fame.
