Oh yes this is exactly the way Jones and Briere have been all year. Whenever they talk Flyers’ future they sneak in a wink right into the camera. If you’re “in the know” you can’t miss it.

But please humor me anyway and kindly (or irritably) provide a link that documents your outrageous claim.

It was on Philadelphia radio. I'll find the link for you.

you are just flyers hater and you always were.

No, @SCFlyguyis like the rest of us who are tired of the same old dog and pony show the Flyers trot out every year and then try to sell it as 'see we're committed' and the only thing they commit to is mediocrity. They won't do a real rebuild. They refuse to take the lumps and try to cheat the rebuild process. And to make matters worse, they keep going on about culture and identity as being the core to a Flyers rebuild. It's insanity over and over and over. They continually make the same mistakes, but expect it will be different. Even Jones admitted that the rebuild statement was for the fans, but in the locker room, he said the rebuild was BS. Enough said.

  3. Now THIS was the Flyers team I was expecting this year. Nine is the next 12 games are against serious contenders. It's very possible that the Flyers tank out of a playoff spot. Plus, with the trade deadline coming on, it's almost a certainly that Walker and Seeler go. You might be able to add Laughton's name to that list as well. I'm wondering if Tuomaala and Andrae aren't far behind Lyksell and Attard in terms of a call up.

I remember the word was the Flyers locker room was divided into two camps Richard’s and Prongers. Now was Pronger a douche and stepping on the Captains toes or did Pronger take over because Richard’s was partying too much and Pronger knew it.

The same thing also happened when Forsberg was on the team. I liked Richards, but I think he was extremely defensive when his leadership was questioned. Those two aren't just another guy. Those two are veterans who have won Stanley Cups.

  5. I met Mike Richards once after a game in Toronto and quite honestly, he was the most miserable millionaire at the time. I think everything gets amped up in Philadelphia and he hated being under the microscope. It certainly didn't help that he and Pronger did not like each other at all.

I don't think so either, he's never going to be Samu Tuoamaala but he's smart enough to find space and skates well enough to get there.

I like how strong he is on the puck and what a good forechecker he is.

Yep. My hope is that Foerster's skating tops out similar to Robertson in Dallas. He wasn't a strong skater either and he seems to have adjusted alright.

  7. Just a heads up that I worked with Jeff Carter's mother and that I met Jeff regularly. That man was a ridiculous hard worker. As for boozing it up, he wasn't a boozer at a lot of the events I saw him at.

If he was a boozer, he wouldn't have lasted as long as he has. I think the reason Carter was moved was because of his closeness to Richards. I think Holmgren was worried about the locker room and that Carter might have been a distraction with his best friend being moved.

I still remember breaking the Columbus deal to his mom at work and she was livid and left work that day.

Sounds like the type of guy the Lightning could have used.
Then again, the Bolts likely didn't have the picks to make this happen and they likely would have had to part with a current roster player they'd prefer not to give up.

While Hanifin to Dallas probably helps their offense, it's likely he costs a lot more than Tanev did.

Pretty sure there are a number of teams circling the Flames about Hanifin....driving the cost of acquisition up as well.

I'm wondering if the Lightning now decide to target Walker and Seeler and to ensure they get them, they offer up Isaac Howard and a bad contract the Flyers absorb. The Flyers did say they were going to weaponized cap space.

  9. Number one centers are really hard to come by. I've read about Petterson in Vancouver, but you can bet that Vancouver will match any offer sheet and if Petterson does want out, it's going to cost a fortune to land him. The Flyers aren't at a place where they can afford to do this.

Best thing the Flyers can do is flood the farm system with centers and see if one will emerge. For instance, if they can land a first and Bourque from Dallas for Seeler and Walker, that's a good start. As well, if Vegas is on the hunt for Laughton, I'd love to see the Flyers target David Edstrom.

That leaves three first round picks. With the three picks, I'd love to see Boisvert, Hage and either Ritchie or Howe be the third selection. That's two guys who are going to the NCAA route and another one who is Canadian major junior. They're going to play a lot.

I want to see a calculated approach to building. No more rushing, no more cheating. Trade for young prospects or draft and develop them.

If we had a legit first line center we could lighten up Coots playing time and preserve his career by putting him on the third line, reduce his PK time too.Since we don’t , he will be overused, and totally shot in two years, especially if we make the playoffs.

That's why Tortorella should have used Frost there, regardless. This was nothing more than win at all costs.

If they see a need for the space they can buy it out with little issue as he'll be entering the last year.

    Couturier has SIX more years!

I still think Couturier can bounce back. His smarts alone are enough to carry him. And honestly, I expected a rough year after missing nearly two full years. Quite frankly, I'm surprised he's played as well as he has and that maybe, just maybe, the head coach shouldn't have ridden Couturier as hard as he had. That's one of my gripes about Tortorella. He just doesn't know when to let up. There was no reason to ride Couturier so hard. I think Couturier has a big bounce back year next year.

  12. They gotta find a way to get out of that Atkinson contract. As much as the Flyers are stuck with the Couturier contact, that Atkinson deal is a boat anchor.

On the brighter side of things, I've read that things are picking up with Dallas and while Dallas doesn't want to give up a 1st and a 2nd for Seeler and Walker, there was word that a first and some prospects (Bourque and Kyrou were named) is starting to gain some traction.
