Took me 5 tries...

I really liked Zamula in this game. Nothing fancy, but very solid.

I still like his upside, but see him more on the left wing rather than a center.

Just happy Flyers dodged that huge contract, if rumour is true.

Somewhere in the world he qualifies as high end talent....

Flyers got the fourth worst pick grade (C-) according to this https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/10041078-2022-nhl-draft-live-round-1-grades-and-analysis-for-every-pick.amp.html

I really like this hire. Not because I believe Torts will "fix" the Flyers as a team. No one person can realistically do that. But because I think he will push Provo, Konecny, Sanheim and all the young guys. He will be tough on them, and ask questions of them...with consequences.
Whether they respond positively or not, is debatable. But they (we) need this accountability.

How much does the hiring of Torts, potentially change the Flyers plans on who they want at 5? Does Torts have the final say?

I'm high on Savoie as well. Seen a few mock drafts where Savoie has dropped (8-12 range), and flyers picking either Jiricek or Cutter. Really curious to see what the Flyers will do here. Tough to predict.

Obviously sucks that the devils won the lottery for the 2nd overall. But, now that it's happened, it makes it interesting. Cooley is the clear cut number 2. Devils have Hischier and Hughes down the middle. They are not going to take Cooley, meaning Arizona gets him at 3 or they trade the pick. If they pick, they will go for Slavfkovsky....Savoie, I believe, will be there at 5. But I'm not overly confident in them making the right choice. Well probably end up with the other defender jiricek.
Above was written in a "Im on my way to work, its early, and Im pissed that the Flyers lucked out in the lottery"
Should be interesting to see what the Devils do. Still dont believe they pick Cooley, unless they want to frontload the middle like the pens did with Crosby, Malkin, Staal. Outside Wright, Cooley, Slavkovsky, I want the Flyers to pick Savoie. But Im afraid the two defenders or an outlier like Geekie (Size) or Kemmel will be the pick.

I know he hasn't played much. But what about Ryan Ellis? Surely he must be a strong candidate.
Agree that coots is the logical choice, but I share the same concerns as above.
For me there are really only four candidates:
Ellis
Coots
Hayes
Laughton
I said candidates, not necessarily good candidates.
I can live with Ellis/Coots. I prefer Ellis though....somebody who hasn't been part of the downward spiral **** show, but is a respected veteran and professional. We've talked about this before, but he could have a Timo effect, if he can stay on the ice that is...

This is the first i have heard that never seen that mentioned any where.
Where are you getting this??
If it's a top ten pick, then Panthers keep it and we get 1st rnd in 2025

1rd pick in 24 is conditional?? Wow.
-
And possibly 2024 1st Rd pick plus 2023 2nd Rd pick. Totally unreliable source (ek).

Reading it's only Tippett??

Look at the bright side people. At least the Flyers can sign players to new contracts....RIP Chelsea.
**** me, this is AMac all over again. Idiotic move.

Provorov has the required skillset. He is strong, can skate, move the puck, pass, shoot, hockey IQ. Imo all are above league average...some very very good, and others average or slightly above.
In order for Provo to continuously showcase these skillsets, he needs to be consistent. Consistency leads to better decision making, which leads to higher confidence....when these things happen, everybody will talk about him as a 1A dman again.
So why isn't it happening?? For me it's got nothing to do with his skillset or potential. He's got all the tools...it's his confidence and decision making. Most people need to be put in the right situations/environment in order for confidence to flourish. Whether it's a vet damn to lean on to take away some pressure, or coaching, or the (lack of) leadership, or whatever i have no idea.
Mentality, mindset, confidence, decision making is everything! Some guys, like Pronger, will always be on top of these....but most human beings need to be put into the right conditions for these to flourish. And these things usually require life experience. Provo needs help here, then the rest will follow.
By the way, replace Provo with konecny/sanheim/farabee/frost/Myers/Patrick and it's the same for those guys when it comes mentality/confidence.

20. We haven't had a REAL captain since Richards/Pronger
Love Giroux. But he is not a leader.

I joined Nov. 7 2011, came over from philly.com aswell. You guys haven't seen much of me, but I'm actually on here pretty much everyday, and have been for ten years, reading most of the threads and post. Best insight to the Flyers on the web.

Only way to watch NHL in Denmark (guess its the same in Sweden and Norway) is to pay 445 DKR (69-70 USD) pr. month! With that though we get all NHL games, all Champions league and all premierleague plus a bunch of shows and movies.
No way to only choose NHL unfortunately.

Ouch....
https://infernalaccess.substack.com/p/the-new-jersey-devils-should-not
However, IF the Devils are entertaining this because they think Risto is potentially part of the long-term future of this franchise and that it’s worth giving up valuable assets to acquire, and then several million to re-sign, I ask the readership of this blog to flood the Twitter-sphere with profanity-laced pleas to Devils management to avoid making a franchise-defining mistake.
Ristolainen is probably the most infamous defender in the NHL among those in the public analytics community. This isn’t because he is the worst -- he’s been hovering around replacement-level for much of his career -- but because he is the most archetypal example of an overrated defencemen in the modern game
