The Wild brain-trust had better learn how to rotate goalies better to maximize sharpness and focus, as with Wallstedt coming up in a year or two (19 Games, 1.90 GPA and .920 Save%), they cannot let the future 'rot on the bench' until their primary goalie gets hurt, sick, or the performance wanes and they make a change out of necessity.

They've already let Kahkonen rot for ages, why not Wallstedt too...

Bill Guerin is only doing him a favor by signing him to the PTO so he can get some games in before heading to the Olympics.  He did get a Goal and an assist in his first game with Iowa last night.

    That's pretty impressive, from both.

Yeah, Spurge muffing 2 chances to  keep the zone. Very odd.
Interesting reslut between the last 2 games, Switching out Dumba for Brodin.
24 had some fault in both goals against while last game the D was pretty solid throughout the night.

Some fault? Looks like he was almost paid to fall asleep on Lemieux's goal. Everything he does in that shift looks so comical.

There's got to be a trade in the works to ship Dumba out of Minnesota, eh?

We are doing pretty well. Hartman 7th, Sturm close by. We will be needinh players who deliver despite low pay.

That is true but again, I would look it from another angle:

those guys who get paid handsomely and have shown prowess before to score, need to start delivering it, now.

It's beyond obvious Hartman won't score 40+ goals etc.

Yeah. Hockey is a team sport. Pair Granlund with Forsberg/Duchene and the points start coming. I'm also pretty sure that if one manages to find suitable & capable line mates for Fiala, the goals/points will start piling up. What I am not so sure about is if the Wild has those players or near-future- prospects that would bring out the best in Fiala.

I'm not sure downplaying Granlund's season and using linemates as an excuse for Fiala are plausible arguments.

IMO the situation is vice versa: Fiala is one of the key players who should bring the best out of players around him.

If he's a player who needs a TOP10 goal scorer/puck distributor in the league to make himself look good, he should be traded. The Wild can't afford to have $5 mil.+ players as sidekicks.

Your points make great sense.  When I said we didn't get much for Granlund, Coyle, and NN, I probably should have added the qualifier 'overall,' as I do like Fiala quite a bit, and completely agree that he has outplayed Granlund.

....and this season Granlund has completely outplayed Fiala. Funny how fast things change.

Damn KK is playing great, maybe he was dinged up and got better.

    "Great" depends on the perspective.

Milan "Stone Hands" Lucic has as many goals as Kaprizov.

He has to start scoring, too. Unlikely Foligno and Hartman can continue to score at this pace.

Seems like he felt pretty lackadaisical about offseason training which could've caused a slow start to the season.

Why?  Because you might win the Cup?  Without him the road is tougher.  The Flames 🔥 should have went all in.  I like the way the Flames are playing and believe it or not I like them unlike most other teams.  I truly hope they keep winning but they should have pulled the trigger on Jack.  I’m stuck with an Eichel jersey I’ve never worn.  She pissed.  But I do like some of our upcoming talent.  Powers, Tuch and the kid we just sent to Rochester and Quinn.

And that isn't even your biggest problem.

It's gonna take a while for your Sabres to get a talent of his caliber, say like 20 years. So hold on to that jersey.

  9. Shot, dead and buried last season.

    This season: 7 GP, 6 W 2.18 GAA, .934 SVV%. Plain wow.

A perfect timing for a 33 year goalie in his contract season to perform like this. When Smith returns, DT will face a tough decision: split the time, still favor Smith or ride the hot hand as long as he's hot?

Wow!  What an overpay.  Krebs, Tuch, another protected first rounder and a few more picks.  I would NOT have made this trade.  Eichel may come back healthy (and I know Tuch is getting healthy), but a healthy Tuch and Krebs (high upside and cost controlled) plus additional high picks is too high.  IF Wild had competed, it would have taken at least Rossi, likely an EEK or Fiala and 2-3 high draft picks.  Too rich for my blood.  Thoughts?

My initial thought was and is what a great trade for Vegas.

Eichel is a genuine high-end talent and Vegas IMO didn't give up any cornerstones. Tuch and Krebs have yet to show anything substantial and picks are always crapshoot.

Slightly risky due to his injury but definitely interesting to see what Eichel could do in Vegas. I feel like the Sabres and the people around him were holding him back.

EDIT: I think this thread is in the wrong forum.
