Another friendly reminder that anyone older than 25 won't be able to meaningfully contribute by the time this team is good again. At best, guys like Provorov and Konecny would be veterans in 3-4 years on a team with much younger superstars. More likely they are going to stay mired in mediocrity, always thinking they are one vet away, or if we got rid of this or that guy, we will be able to compete.

Heart. It's called the heart.
I'm being positive, not negative. There is a non-zero chance he scores 50 pts for the second time in his career.

This is your reminder that we still have 5 more years of Hayes at $7M+ per year.
Will he break 50 pts this year? There's always a chance.

What Flyer prospects are going to come up and be franchise players at 22 years old?
We haven't had one of those types since Giroux in his prime and I don't see any of our prospects being one of these players and we need 2-3 of them to compete for a Cup.
And I don't want to hear about Provorov, Farabee, Konecny. Nice players but they aren't prospects any more and certainly aren't franchise players on the level of a Doughty, Kane, etc.
-
All the Cups these two old boys won for the Flyers definitely justifies them walking through the Flyers' revolving door once again.
Once a Flyer, always a Flyer (unfortunately).
-
I would rather have Patrick on the roster than Hayes. The former you could send down to LV or healthy scratch and it won't matter, the latter is going to be a stone weight on the neck of this franchise at $7M+ per year for a billion years.
-
Lol, Ghost's value = zero. Any team in the league could have had him for free and passed.
Now a team is going to suddenly give up assets for him? I don't think so.
-
It's pretty clear that Provorov is really a solid #2 with flashes, but not really a true #1.
This means he's one of the Flyers' best homegrown defensemen of all time.
Cam York is still using Medac for his pimples and we're all ready to predict his career.

Either way, we know "he plays a complete game."

God, I forgot about Hayes. I haven't seen one dip$hit on here who argued he was a good signing come back and admit they were wrong. Cowards.
The best thing you can say about Hayes is that he'll help us get better draft position for years to come.

I think we've overrated Provorov for years - and I like Provorov a lot.
I'm just laughing that you are able to make these determinations after 3 NHL games.
Did you think the same thing about Luca Sbisa?
-
What the Flyers need to do: hit a home run with a superstar skill player who has speed to burn.
What the Flyers will do: pick a Canadian farm boy who plays a 200ft game and has a high hockey IQ.-

He doesn't have "it". Cam York has "it", nothing flusters that guy in 3 NHL games.
This is the funniest thing I've ever read.
We should probably just give him 3 Norris Trophies and couple of Stanley Cups, too.
-
We should trade Couturier. He's my favorite Flyer, but his tread is going to be worn thin in 3-5 more years when this team has a shot to be good again and he will be making $8M for another 3-5 years after that if we re-sign again.
Trade him and get back several picks and prospects who will be ready on a timeline consistent with the rest of this team.
-
Big changes are necessary, those changes will not happen this offseason. Better get used to it.
-
Lol, Ekholm will be a broken down old man before this team is any good.

this isn't fantasy hockey. they cant trade everyone
Fantasy hockey is the Flyers continuing to hold on to their good players the last 10 years hoping they could rebuild while still remaining competitive.
This thing needs to be nuked from orbit.

Yes.
Couts has been my favorite Flyer since the playoffs of his rookie year, but you have to trade him right now as well.

This team isn't going to make major changes next year. These moves seem like they think if they just cut some dead weight and a few young guys replace them next year, we can take another shot. They don't realize there is dead weight all over the roster.

Sure I guess so who do you toss into on coming traffic now - oops I meant expose to Seattle?
In a reversal of what some of the teams did with Las Vegas expansion, Seattle is going to trade the Flyers a pick so they don't have to take one of our scrubs.

Imagine being upset with G & V at this point?
Jake is what he is. An over-achieving Pat Falloon.
G is not a captain. I could see him getting somewhat rejuvenated if he joined a contender in a supporting role. I would even root for him. But his days on the Flyers should have ended the second Hextall got here.
I save my wrath for all the moron ex-Flyers still controlling the organization.

Choice of two defenseman… Jones or Hamilton, who do we want?
in Philadelphia Flyers

See what you did? You turned Carter Hart into a superstar (and at the most important position).
My point is I don't see a single superstar in the entire Flyers system.
A couple of nice players here or there, but no superstars.
