  1. It's a lot of money and years It's a chance the flyers have to take. I look at this way homer and snider piss off every other gm in the league, example parise, sutter, pronger, weber, flyers go out try to out pay everyone, if they did not lock up G right away you know dang right well another team would lick their chops at a chance of offering a huge payday for G just piss off the Homer and sinder

  3. two-year, $8 million contract

he Montreal Canadiens have agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent forward Daniel Briere on a two-year, $8 million contract.

The 35-year-old spent the past six seasons with the Philadelphia Flyers. During the lockout shortened 2012-13 campaign, Briere posted six goals and 16 points in 34 games.

Prior to his time in Philadelphia, Briere spent time with the Buffalo Sabres and Phoenix Coyotes. The 15-year veteran was originally drafted 24th overall by the Coyotes in the 1996 NHL Draft.

In 847 career games, Briere has 286 goals and 659 point

  4. Bryzgalov part deux!!

    Quote:

Lecavalier: "I'm tired of playing on an offense-first team with a weak blue line and shaky goaltending. So I am signing with the Flyers."

    ...

Lecavalier basically had his choice of eating in any restaurant in the world and chose a crowded Sbarro in a bad neighborhood.

  5. Eventhough it's possibility that the Flyers might be in a hole to try back into the playoff race, I'm sure Bryzgalov isn't impressing his teammates with his comments. It's just another reason why Holmgren should buy this idiot out at the end of the season.

Easy Breezy Beautiful color girl is just a moron I cant wait till hes gone. The team infront of him has no confidence in him what so ever

  6. I know the flyers are in a rut but man your own goalie should not be saying crap like since he is getting paid 60 mill for being an avg goalie

The Philadelphia Flyers have 25 points in 27 games, sitting three points out of the eight seed with the New York Rangers (24 games) and four points out of the seven seed (26 games).

Things are dire, but not insurmountable for a team many pegged as an Eastern Conference playoff team to start the season. But according to Flyers goalie/Cosmonaut Ilya Bryzgalov, if they don’t take two games from the Devils this week on Wednesday and Friday, Philly might as well pack up the tents.

From Sam Carchidi of the Inquirer:

"You win both games, and you tied with them and you have a good chance to continue to battle for the playoffs," he said after Tuesday's practice in Voorhees.

"You lose both games, you done. You done. That's it. This is it. This is probably reality. You'd be eight points behind ...and not many games to catch up. It would be very, very difficult. It's not going to depend on you (if you lose two), it's going to depend more on other teams than you. That's the importance of these games."

This follows Bryz’s assessment of the Flyers from March 5, after a loss to the Rangers:

"Not good," he said. "We're not good. We obviously not in the spot where we want to be and (if nothing changes) it's going to be more ugly. What else can I say? This is the reality."

Who knew Ilya Bryzgalov would be the realist for the Flyers?

He’s right: The Flyers are very close to having to rely on the kindness (or feebleness) of conference foes.

That’s the problem with trying to rally in the lockout-shortened season with an intra-conference schedule: No games in which, say, the Rangers don’t gain points against a Western Conference opponent. Every point the Rangers lose will be another Eastern Conference team’s gain.

As an aside: If we had told you the Flyers would be in danger of missing the playoffs in March, back when the season started, how many of you would have pinned it on Bryz?

Instead, with 26 starts in 28 games after Wednesday and a respectable 2.77 GAA behind a porous Flyers defense, he’s been the best player on the ice in some games.

And, apparently, he's been one of their most vocal leaders, too.

  7. So here in NM we have vast knowledge on many topics, including, but not limitied to, successfully driving drunk while being a prominent public official, beating up your wife and girlfriend (at the same time), how to live turn mud into adequate dwellings, pushing elderly persons down escalators, and of course sodomizing ugly armored mamals.

What we don't have a lot of knowledge about is ice hockey. So here is my dilemma. I am now, have been, and will forever be, a marginal hockey player. We refer to it as Beginner/intermediate at the local barn. In my quest for hockey knowledge I have learned that skates should be a size, size and a half, smaller than your shoe size. I was plodding around on a pair of CCM 91/2 halfs, looking like a cross between a drunk scott hartnell and riley cote after his nightly beating. The guy at the pro-shop (i use that term lightly) suggested I try a size 9. So we found a pair of CCM u+4 and tried those on. They fit but I didn't buy. Intead I went online and found a pair of CCM u+02 and bought those.

to get to the point, I had them sharpened and went on this ice. As I have already mentioned, I am not the most gracefeul of skaters but I do okay. Normally stopping is not a huge deal for me. However, in these new skates, when I try to stop the blades chops across the ice. Have any of you experienced this and what exactly might be casuing it (other than me sucking)?

sounds like the guy who sharpened your skates did a crap job take a look at the blade see if there is an waves in the blade. Take your finger along the side and rub it up the side, if it feels dull than they are dull. try getting a flt bottom V cut 100/70 its what I have done makes a huge difference

  8. i love the nhl I grew up playing ice-hockey fand still play today, but i am really done with all pro sports. I will continue to follow the flyers but not as hard core as I have been since the late 80's and up till last year. i will watch college hockey on tv and go to college games at the local rink near me and pick up a few HS games as well, and watch kids who play for the love of game.

The NHL will never recover from this lockout. All the new fans they gained will be lost. They do not have the TV /sponsorship marketing like baseball football and bball to keep having lockouts.
