OK, so taking the Islanders for an example. Basically the same team same HC same GM got substantially better. Right? The Flyers, basically the same team same HC same GM have gotten substantially worse. Why? The HC is not doing something right or the GM isn't doing his job. I agree a lot of the players are under achieving, but these are the same players from last year. No way Niskanen is the difference all by himself. It's the coaches job to motivate his team and have them ready to play every night. To me AV has lost the room and is failing to put the right system in play so his players can succeed. Hey they may not be the players he wants, but you play the cards you are delt and change the style of play to fit the players. If that means changing to a defensive style to help a weak d then you change your system. AV is not doing that. His run n gun system is not working but hey he has gotten to the finals twice so he must be a great coach. Maybe Bobby Clarke should lace em up and play, after all he was once a great player. AV's time as a HC has passed him by.

Oh. the same team that had all that "success" last year and beat all the top teams as you say is the same team that lost to the worst team in the league 6-1 and has looked like crap for the last month. So the Islanders improved from last year and the Flyers look like crap. Can you explain that to me......I'll wait.

Seriously a playoff round? Yeah we barely beat the Canadians the 8 seed then lost to the 7th seed. Yeah that is something to be proud of and a notch in any GM/HC resumé.

So we get rid of JVR, ok I can get behind that, As for G I like the idea of telling him he won't be re-signed, this forces his hand. If he still refuses to be traded put his ass on wavers get that 9 mil off the books, use it for a younger FA in the offseason. Jake I just don't know what to do with. I hate retaining salary, but this team needs a major shake up. I am fed up with G and Jake they just aren't top players and not worth their contracts.

The big think is you have to have a team that wants him first, and I can't see any team wanting a 9 mil 3rd line center.

Ok I get your point, but how do you move players no one want's? What team would want G at 9 mil a year? How do you know that conversation hasn't happened between Fletcher and AV? I would wager it has. In a flat cap era you can't give away players or retain salary imo. It's a mess right now and maybe firing AV is not the answer but if Fletcher wants to save his own job he better be looking at doing it or they both will be on the unemployment line. The Fletcher/AV experiment has been a failure so far.

So what do you propose Fletcher do? Place the whole team on wavers? Or maybe you are happy with this sh** show night in and night out. Please tell me what you would do? I can't wait.

I think Fletcher would be stupid not to look at coaching. Sometimes if something isn't working it is the coaches job to change the system to find something that works. I just don't see that happening with this staff. But hey your guess is as good as mine. I do like sitting Hart though.

You aren't wrong, the Flyers problems go way deeper than players IMO. I think the problem lies with management and coaching, yes I know I'm alone in thinking this and I will stop harping on this point of view.

Why are you all so hard on Patrick? Yeah he is having a bad year but name one Flyer player that isn't? He's young he will get better in the right environment. Keep him are let him become a star for another team, I say keep him.

Here are my thoughts for what it's worth. Fletcher threw Ghost on wavers fully expecting no one would claim him, he did this for two reasons. 1 - he has decided this team will not make the playoffs and he has become a seller. 2 - As the trade deadline approaches and the top defense men are gone off the board every GM now knows Ghost is available and out of desperation to make a run for the playoffs might make a trade for him. They did not claim him off wavers because they were hoping to land a bigger fish, once they are gone Ghost might be their best option. This team as it sits is going nowhere and Fletcher knows it.
