  1. This team not tanking is again the problem. We'll be fighting for 10th place by end of the year - brilliant
  2. This is why I'm a part-time fan now. The game has become Charmin soft
  3. What could Konecny return? Need a bluechip defenseman
  4. He has the same build as Makar and Hughes and theyre doing fine
  5. I guess I stand corrected, kind of. NHL just rated defenseman and Pietro is #9 https://www.nhl.com/news/nhl-current-players-ranked-top-20-defensemen-345580664 Pietro is obviously a true #1 but I dont know if that alone makes him a stud defenseman...as in, a player that defines the position. As you mentioned, the league has placed a premium on scoring and NHL has Makar and Fox #1 and #2.
  6. Very few people would consider Pietro a stud anymore. He's still a good-great defenseman both most dont think of Pietro when they bring up Makar, Fox, Hedman, etc. VGK seemed to have better depth of GOOD-GREAT players (Pietro, Theodore, Stone, Eichel, etc.) and less of the game-changing elite players (McD, Draisatl, Matthews, Makar, MacKinnon, Fox, Kucherov, Hedman, Crosby, Pasta, etc.). Flyguys have a forward and goaltending group (prospects included) that possibly mirrors VGK development. And you're right, defensively work needs to be done...that's why I'm hoping for a dreadful season and another Top 5 pick
  7. Even after Hexy spent so much draft capital on defense (and reportedly took Patrick ahead of scout preference of Makar) we have nothing but a 3rd/4th defenseman in Sanheim to show for it. Feelsbadman
  8. Every team usually has at least 1-2 stars but VGKnights showed you dont need a STUD to win. And the Flyers might end up being very well rounded if their prospects pan out. Cutter and Michkov seem very likely to be STARS but remains to be seen if theyll be STUDS. Nonetheless their mid six is very well rounded with youth in Frost, TK, Farabee, Tippet, and Foerester as well as maybe Brink. Yes, those players need to maintain their progression but it is unlikely that all of them regress...and none of them necessarily need to grow into top line talent. Couple that with a suddenly deep goaltending pipeline of Hart, Errson, Bjanarasson, and Zavragin. The only asterisk is defense but even that area seems "okay". And its not like we cant make trades or sign UFAs or even RFAs. I'm very optimistic for this team NEXT YEAR and beyond. Praying this is an abysmal season for another potential stud!
  9. Michkov wants to come to NHL. He'll be here in 3 years time. Things with Russia are fine. Ukraine is losing and will lose the war primarily because theyre grossly outnumbered. I'm not wishing negativity on UKR or RSA. I'm not from the Eur-Asian area and I've seen enough conflicting information online to know that news/media from whichever country presents things in their own interest. Needless to say USA and Russia havent gotten along for decades minus Trumps brief tenure and yet Ovechkin and Malkin and Kaprizov and plenty of other Russian players come to NHL simply because they want to be the best...and Ovi will go down as the best goal scorer ever - rightfully so. Russians dont impede Russians from making money and NHL pays the best by a large margin.
  10. I think a 4-6 year contract would be perfect as I'm also a believer in Frost. Obviously so long as AAV is reasonable...(maybe 5 x $5 even a la Konecny who got 6x$5.5).
  11. Anyone else kind of concerned with the Frost negotiations dragging out? Caphit or term an issue? Seems like pretty much every other relevant RFA has signed already. I understand that Frost isnt 1C material but he still might be a solid 2C and/or Top 6. Any thoughts??
  12. Giroux was a good player maybe great but nowhere near as good as a Forsberg or Lindros or Jagr obv
  13. Dont remember a superstar before Lindros either tbh. Dont think Clarke or Bernie were ever at that level. Some peeps say Big E was a Top 10 talent of all time...!
  14. Gagne ans Carter are last pure snipers I recall but Michkov seems like he's more than just a sniper too...STOKED!!!
  15. Rumor has it they need to make a splash NOW and not in 3 years or that franchise is GONE (and it should be)
  16. He seems too natural for me. Never looks like he's forcing the play. Genuinely think the Flyers (can't believe I'm saying this) have a stud. He's years out and that's a good thing. Allows us to suck *** and hopefully replenish the depth/acquire more blue chip prospects
  17. Carolina is a treasure to follow. They do whatever they want and troll expertly. From the Aho Twitter stuff, to the Kotkaniemi OL, to signed DeAngelo at essentially his BO cost and now giving away Rizzo anyway...Carolina are great entertainment even outside the game
  18. Taking Campbell would be necessary for cap purposes and he's not awful...just grossly overpaid. The asset worth trading Hart for os Broberg. Campbell is more of a cap dump tbh
  19. Also, I'm totally open to trading Hart to EDM and taking Campbell back so long as we get Broberg and maybe a conditional 1st/2nd The goal is to NOT win games for at least this season since neither Gauthier or Michkov are here. Not evej guaranteed Foerester will be w the team, nor Bonk. Tank hard this year for another solid pick. We'll have 1 year of Peterson left with a good reliable backup in Campbell who can always start in a crunch
  20. Also, have heard that Hart will be traded following this investigation. Dont know if a suspension would effect a trade but have seen multiple reports (old ones now so maybe not relevant) that Hart trade done but clubs awaiting the imvestigation (for PR purposes possibly). Again the reports are now weeks to months old so maybe no longer accurate
  21. There's little chance any suspension holds. Canada's police/DA made zero charges so how in the **** the league thinks its capable of issuing consequences when law enforcement couldn't - beats me. Guaranteed NHLPA appeals and they'll win. Bettman drunk on his Coyotes nonsense again.
  22. Eh that could be a "not a fit" issue too. Hayes was decent w NYR but the problem was Fletcher (big surprise) giving Hayes 1C/2C money when he's an okay 2C and a good 3C.
