  1. Precisely. Arizona is a sorry franchise, just like you say. So too is Buffalo, Columbus, and Anaheim. You think Bettman and company wanted the next face of hockey to play THERE?!? Or ANY of those places??? No chance.
  2. NHL has a Canadian and Original 6 bias. Always catering to those clubs. Of course Buffalo and Arizona were robbed of McDavid and ofc Anaheim and Columbus were robbed of Bedard.
  3. If the lotteries were truly random they would be drawn LIVE. Otherwise its extremely suspicious the way certain teams win. Specifically, EDM to win the lottery 2 times in 6 years (both 1OA wins) and retain the 1OA spot the two times they were 1OA favorites and for NJ to outright win 1OA twice and 2OA once in 6 years. The statistical likelihood of the above scenario is poor. Probably because it wasnt a statistical anomaly. Bettman and the NHL pick their winners
  4. Kane was good enough where he can be considered a debatable generational talent. I have no problem w Chicago or what they've done. I dont like how the NHL caters to original 6 and canadian teams...dropping a generational prospect into their lap while several franchises have been terrible for nearly a decade or longer. Typical Bettman sh**. And if that's how he operates why shouldnt the Flyguys be considered for a handout ?
  5. Columbus, Anaheim, Arizona, and have been terrible for years also but somehow Chicago got to skip the line - again - and get another generational player literally 1 season after previous generational talent in Patty Kane left. Chicago tanked - intentionally - by selling and trading off every worthwhile asset and were rewarded...the exact thing the lottery system is supposed to prevent. Since 1995 the Flyers have only "won" the lottery once and have twice (maybe more) moved down. The infamous 2007 draft was obviously most noteworthy and nothing - at all - has helped the club in the meantime as their #2OA pick isnt even in the league (thanks Hextall). https://thehockeywriters.com/revisiting-philadelphia-flyers-draft-lottery-luck/ If NJ and EDM can get handouts the Flyers should eligible too
  6. All I'm saying is if EDM (Hall, RNH, Yakupov, and McJesus - 4 times in 6 or 7 years) and NJ (Hischier and Hughes - 2 times in 4 years) can get all that lottery luck for 1OA...surely we can get another stab...... ...... .....please?
  7. Hoping we drop and...some lottery luck. When's the last time Flyers had lottery luck? JVR in place of Kane...and I dont include Patrick who played something like less than 200 career games. . . If EDM can get 1OA three times on six years and NJ can get it twice in a few years...we are due !
  8. Sanheim gets way too much flak...he's a solid top 4 defenseman who can operate as a top pair in a pinch.
  9. Dont forget there were rumours Carter slept w Hartnells wife...it made sense the Flyers moved on, but trading Tippett would be a bad look in my opinion. Team is much more fragile right now...A #5 OA pick just publicly refused to play/sign for the Flyers...a defenseman just blocked a trade to not come to Philly...lots of high profile FA dont even look in Philly direction.
  10. All good points. Even Gretzky, or McJesus, have their limits. Cant run a guy 25+ min/night for dozens of games consecutively and expect their A+ game in round 2/3 or even the Stanley Cup...need evidence? That's why repeat winners of Stanley Cup are rare and why the threepeat is almost unheard of. Guys are just on fumes cause the playoffs are both 6+ longer of hockey as well as 6+ weeks shorter of breaks... For right now though, while team continues to find what it is, suppose its not a huge problem? Still, I like the bones here. Framework really looking promising...And I was NOT optimistic when Danny and Keith took over and said they wouldn't rebuild. Guess that's why they do what they do and I dont do it...
  11. Flyguys are playing closer to expectations. Their start just wasnt sustainable...they dont have the horses...yet. Not sure if anyone wants Atkinson. Flyers do need some veteran leaders and Cam is decent for what he is. Despite enjoying Konecny...cant help but wonder about the haul he could fetch
  12. Def makes you wonder. Hart was in the rumour mill all offseason and people speculated he couldnt be moved because of outstanding legal issues. Danny B did the next best thing and signed Errsson to an extension (most of us considered an overpayment) that makes a lot more sense today. Then Danny B made additional excellent decisions by drafting potential blue chip goaltenders in Carson Bjarnason and Egor Zavragin. Its strange to say but even with a potential Hart exodus...Flyers goaltending future looks...bright?
  13. How much better would Giroux and Voracek era been if they had a guy like Tippet? The truth is teams need a Jeff Carter...a shoot first player. Everyone cant be a set-up passer. And dont make me dig up threads where people pulled their hair out at overpassing between G and Scoracek. Tippet is a terrific addition and getting adequate pay for a Top 6 role and potential PP specialists
  14. Love the signing. Dude is 24 now and is signed through his entire prime (with room to grow). With the cap projections this will be a steal soon and can even be considered fair value today. I'm tired of all the pass-first players. We need someone to shoot the puck because the object is to SCORE. A 20+ goal guy w/ 50pts and great underlying metrics... Great work Danny B!
  15. Those are your words, not mine: Please help me understand what take the warning means. Is this one of those new Tik Tok jokes?
  16. The 8% number is extremely relevant when youre talking about professional athletes and millions of dollars. Glad youre at least honest that you're assuming guilt. Disgusting behavior but I commend your honesty
  17. Everyone has an opinion. Hell, law was birthed from opinions that use logic and science to support ideas. When enough people share the same opinion it evolves into a movement...ya know, kinda like the #metoo movement...which is loosely related to this entire thread. Sorry if thats too abstract for you
  18. What is the point of replying to me if you dont even read the post? Triggered? Anyhow, if you just read a paragraph or two of the links provided you'd find your answer; "Other studies have figures in the same range. The FBI has put the number of "unfounded" rapes - those determined to be false after investigation - at 8%." The case you mentioned, Ben Johnson, is not the same issue. Can someone give consent when they're intoxicated is not the same as outright rape. Theyre different issues.
  19. I've cited examples where it happened and research suggests at least 8% of the time sexual allegations are made up. Most of the time its real. You dont know - even if your mind seems already made up - if this accusation against Hart and company is legitimate or not.
  20. This is completely false. Statements shared on here and other forums like Twitter, Insta, and all other public communities help form what's called a "public opinion/narrative". None of us are public figures so its a very small contribution to the public narrative but we all contribute. The Eagles fired Chip Kelley largely because the fans wanted him out. Kelley got rid of fan favorite players in Nick Foles, Lesean McCoy, DeSean Jackson, and Jeremy Maclin. Fans were outraged and the negativity boiled throughout the entire 2015 season resulting in one of the most predictable firings in recent history... Not satisfied? Try this one which hits closer to home. Chuck Fletcher has been criticized by fans almost since the day he arrived. Fans largely suspended their judgement although nearly everyone expressed concern w the signing. Fletcher produced mediocre results (2018 - 82pts, 2019 - 89pts, 2020 - 58pts, 2021 - 61 pts, 2022 - 75 pts), but more importantly public perception was near all-time lows: https://theathletic.com/3374320/2022/06/21/philadelphia-flyers-fletcher-ownership-survey/ https://www.sportskeeda.com/ice-hockey/news-the-devil-gone-philadelphia-flyers-fans-celebrate-firing-gm-chuck-fletcher The point is - media shapes narrative and that narrative plays an enormous role in the socialization of society. The culmination is that our itty bitty voices, when combined, do produce change. If everyone is advocating for the same thing that same thing usually happens. So, yes, your contributions (and mine and everyone else here) do have a small effect on those accused and charged. And my belief is not just thought up in my head, its from learning about the topic from people who've been falsely accused in the past (including professional athletes): https://thecrimewire.com/multifarious/Football-Player-Falsely-Imprisoned-For-Rape-Exonerated-Gets-Pro-Contract https://www.newyorker.com/news/annals-of-activism/meeting-the-other-side-conversations-with-men-accused-of-sexual-assault https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duke_lacrosse_case Here are some important points from the Duke case specifically: " In January 2007, lacrosse team member Kyle Dowd filed a lawsuit against Duke University and against a visiting associate professor and member of the Group of 88, Kim Curtis, claiming he and another teammate were given failing grades on their final paper as a form of retaliation after the scandal broke.[148][149] The case was settled with the terms undisclosed except that Dowd's grade was altered to a P (for "Pass").[150] Professor Houston Baker, who continued to accuse Dowd and the others of being "hooligans" and "rapists", called Dowd's mother "the mother of a farm animal" after she e-mailed him. Duke Provost Peter Lange responded to Baker, criticizing Baker for prejudging the team based on race and gender, citing this as a classic tactic of racism.[151] Duke's athletic director at the time, Joe Alleva, who forced lacrosse coach Mike Pressler's resignation, faced criticism for his handling of this case." So, yes, @CoachX your contributions do matter. The Duke lacrosse players were mistreated and discriminated against for charges that were ultimately dropped. What's really moving is the DISCRIMINATION CONTINUED AFTER THE CHARGES WERE DROPPED. My personal belief is that communities and forums like this one play an important role in shaping public narrative. Most of the time it doesnt change anything, but with the severity of these charges...please consider the implications. THAT MEANS...consider if the woman alleging she was gangraped was your daughter - I'd want to murder those young men. THAT ALSO MEANS...consider if one of those young men was your son - what if he really is wrongly accused? Will you give one f*** if he's constantly harassed in the community? What if he turns to alcoholism? Cant get a job? What if he takes his own life? Will it matter then? Would you care then? You dont know what happened and neither do I. I am not condoning illegal behavior for anyone. If you did the crime you better be doing the damn time. What I wont do is start punishing someone for, as far as we know, a "story". That story may evolve to have evidence including DNA and testimony/statements and text messages and even video...At that point it no longer becomes a story and instead becomes a criminal act. Let's let the authorities and court do their work and find out what happened BEFORE we start holding people accountable...because we don't know.
  21. That's a nice story. You dont know that all or some or none of the players did not cooperate. I do not "trust you". This isnt a "trust me bro" situation. Let's let the authorities and courts figure out what really happened
  22. Did you not read the post that you quoted and replied to? We dont have to agree on things and you dont need to be sarcastic or passive aggressive. Just be an adult
  23. A euphemism is used to put a positive spin on an otherwise negative word. It may be euphemstic to call someone immature than a fool, for example As far as justice delayed is justice delivered...completely agree.
  24. Simple rape case. Police do not charge those involved and are cleared. Now there's a conspiracy in which police may have behaved criminally and covered things up. Again, this is all speculation. We'll let the court system play out and see what happens, but the language used by grown adult men on this forum to bury young men/kids for...allegations that were initially rejected. Saying these adult grown men are immature is a damn euphemism...
  25. You're reading comprehension isnt adding up. Nothing in my post said anything about "boys will be boys". I never said I was laughing at stories, I said I was laughing at grown men getting so mad about these stories that they then project their anger toward a young man...who may or may not be guilty of anything at all. As an adult, I'm embarrassed for these "men". Here's some athletes whose professional careers were destroyed by false allegations: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/report-brian-banks-privilege-stanford-rape-case-brock-turner/ https://www.forbes.com/sites/karlynborysenko/2020/02/12/the-dark-side-of-metoo-what-happens-when-men-are-falsely-accused/ https://medium.com/false-allegations-wrongful-convictions/the-perils-of-falsely-reporting-allegations-of-sexual-assault-to-the-police-cc15f510a6be
