  1. On that last point shot on Vasi, he was fortunate to not give up a rebound. Matthews was WIDE OPEN just sitting there ready to pounce and he wouldn't have Hagel'd it. This is what it's all about. BTW, I've ALWAYS hated Jack Campbell in OT situations. No matter who scores, I think that team wins the series.
  2. Not sure if you're a football fan, but this one feels like it might be Bills/Chiefs in the 3rd. Lots of emotion swings. So happy YOUR Captain got hot at the right time. He's baaaaaaaaack. Can Black Jack Campbell pirate us through 20 minutes and into the 2nd round? Yo ho...Yo ho... EDIT: If the Leafs win, there may be a parade just for a 1st round win.
  3. Honestly, you could feel it. They were sniffing it hard before that 2nd goal, and BAM! ...Cap'n with a 3rd. This is as close as this team has ever been to winning a series. Not just on scoreboard, but just in sense. That feeling that they're about to break through...finally. That 3rd should be something. Tampa could score 3 or 4 and switch this all around headed back for Game 7. Never know what to expect from these teams as both can get red hot and ice cold in a matter of minutes. Dueling microwaves.
  4. I love Cirelli. Just not when he's playing the Leafs. Finally, got a chance to see the Palat goal. Oh. My. No! Thought Travis Dermott was back. One of the worst plays I've ever seen in a big playoff game. Leafs are hanging. Very good sign. Perhaps, an OT in our future? Now, that would be something.
  5. Tampa has no Will. The Leafs have Will Nylander. Where there's no will, there's no way. No lineup changes for Leafs. Simmonds and Clifford sit another one out. Does Toronto's playoff drought end, or does Tampa's playoff run continue? The last 4 appearances in Tampa: Toronto 6 Tampa 2 Tampa 8 Toronto 1 Toronto 3 Tampa 2 Tampa 7 Toronto 3 Please, let the pattern hold. Toronto's turn tonight.
  6. Tested positive for COVID? That's going around like crazy right now. MLB postponed the White Sox/Cleveland game today due to too many positives on the Guardians. Sorry, about the loss. I was a big Caps fan tonight and for this series. Bummed they let the lead slip away like in Game 4. Still, have to win one more. I hope Caps can push them to the limit and hope Wilson is back.
  7. I don't know what feed anyone is getting, but Randy Moeller is the king of made up sayings... Verhaeghe scores and he quips: "He's hotter than a blow torch on a Saturday morning." What? My all-time Moeller-ism was from a few years ago...the Panthers gave up a bad goal and he goes: "That's like a bad haircut. It affects the whole family." Panthers alive. These boys have been here before. Onslaught is coming...
  8. Was a big fan of some of the Warroad Warrior teams. Larry Olimb was one of my all-time MSHS hockey tourney legends. He's doing Warroad proud. What a series from him. 5 in the can already, and 2 tonight.
  9. Heck, Florida is fortunate this one isn't the series ender. Perhaps, it would've been different had Florida not come back in Game 4, but this is ugly for them and Samsonov looks like prime-Vasilevskiy so far.
  10. I saw some fans on Twitter speculating JT was never the same after COVID. Everyone is affected differently, so perhaps that is what his issue is. Of course, I have no idea, he just looks unwell to me. Not the same as he has in the past. Spezza better give the pre-game speech tomorrow night, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't think they needed a Clifford or Simmonds to set some tone tomorrow night. Hope you're celebrating with friends earlier than expected. I have to finagle watching all of this one. Hate that I have something that I should be doing instead over the next potential 2 games. This is it. Leafs are right there knocking on the door of a series win. Will they kick it in this time or walk away without the sale, again?
  11. Panthers got robbed on that whistle. Should be 1-1. Trying not to get ahead of myself, but, if the Caps can somehow take out Florida, the Leafs path to the Cup, in theory, should be so much easier. Especially, if the Caps are without Wilson going forward. Florida looked dreadful for most of the first but got the ship righted toward the end. Samsonov is going to get rubbered up here in the 2nd. Hope he's ready.
  12. I just saw a few minutes ago that Eichel played the last 6 weeks with a broken thumb. We had Zach Hyman playing almost 4 games of a playoff series vs. Boston on a torn ACL. I'm not saying JT is sick, just that he doesn't look well to me. Curious to see what fight is left in Tampa. Do they really want a 3rd straight Cup? Tough to go back-to-back and even harder to 3-peat. Losing Game 5 the way they did may have reduced their hunger for this. I guess we'll find out soon enough, if they'll come out like they did in Game 4 or Game 3. Leafs got very good fortune in Tampa not burying their chances in the 1st period last night. That game should've been out of reach but they kept missing Campbell being way out of position. I doubt that happens twice in a row and we can't forget about Tampa's ability not to lose 2 straight. Let's see if our beloved Leafs can flip that hardest of scripts. Kind of hope they don't. Worried about your adult beverage consumption if they do.
  13. So bummed the Caps just missed the open net when Florida had goalie pulled that led to the tying goal, which led to the win in OT. Caps had a real shot of an upset in this series, but let it slip..just inches from that empty netter. Was hoping to see Tom Wilson back for Game 5, tonight, but it doesn't look that way. He must be really hurting.
  14. His ankle was really good in Game 5! All hail JT's ankle! Beyond that he did impact the game so that was nice to see. Still, something has been off about him for quite some time. He looks sick to me. Pale. I hope there's nothing going on with him that's pretty serious but is being withheld. You believed in him. I counted him out. Hat tip to you. A big 2-point night when it was really needed. Let's hope he has more in him for Game 6. Losing game 6 will feel like losing the series to me given we haven't ever won one of those since JT's been here.
  15. I can't get over the Leafs being in FIVE Game 5's in the Matthews/Marner era for 7-game-series and every single one of them have been 1-goal games. Record moves to 3-2 in Game 5 of 7-game series. Still, have yet to win a series after winning Game 5 in the Matthews/Marner era. Tampa may honestly like TFG said have Toronto right where they want them. I trust the Wild to beat St. Louis in 7 and they're down 3-2, more than I trust the Leafs up 3-2. Also, amazing the Leafs give up the first and second goals, and still win in a series that's had no lead changes. First goal is so critical. The odds in this first round are hovering near 90% if memory serves. Tonight, was very un-Leaf like. This team does not do this. Especially, not against a team like Tampa. But, I have to believe Tampa isn't overly concerned. Just have to win back-to-back games. A team that's won back-to-back Cups can't be sweating beating a team known for no killer instinct and losing Game 7's. Get the AED on standby for Thursday night. The BP is already up.
  16. After the 1st period... total resonation with this: Now? Elation. Never had a doubt. #Speechless (but long way to go...been here before)
