  1. if they traded him they'd retain a portion of his cap?
  2. \\I find that VERY interesting. So you're saying that if Toronto picked him up and then wanted him on the Leafs, they'd have to deal with re-entry waivers? Seems kind of unfair to both the player and the team looking to pick him up. I mean, if that were the case it's just another reason a player would continue to rot in the AHL, which I believe the waiver thing is supposed to help prevent. Why would I bring a player up through re-entry when I know another team is interested in him? I'd basically be giving him away AND covering some of his pay? The only way I would do that is if the organization was short on actual cash, which the Flyers aren't.
  3. man, I hope someone who knows weighs in on this cause you bring up a good point if valid. That said, I'm not sure why you couldn't trade an NHLer who happens to be currently playing for the farm team without having to do the waiver hokey pokey. If Toronto called the Flyers and said "we'd like to make a trade" why would the Flyers have to call him up first? And I can't understand whether or not him still being in the AHL would effect Toronto's decision to pursue him.
  4. I wonder what the actual effect the fan vote has. Do people who don't follow hockey actually care to vote and then watch the all star game of a sport they don't follow. Then are so enamored with the product that they then decide to pick a team and start following the sport? I can't stand the fan vote and the All Star game should be more of a show case of current talent. Have statistical criteria that is based off the current season with a specific cut off and if you are having an all star season up until that point, then you play in the all star game. I know you could have plenty of players in there that are there as a fluke. Those guys could start off strong, make it to the all star game and then cool off, never to get hot again. But I like that much more than having players who aren't performing at an all star level in a given year yet are on the all star team the season they are playing poorly. At least for the guys that may or may not have it for the long haul, they put up the numbers. You get there on current production, not past merit.
  5. you could live right around the corner and dad duty could still keep you from the party. I don't think you need to worry about dropping that while you are a resident of maine. but congrats dad
  6. there was a time when the Flyers never wore an all black jersey but that seemed to grow on you as now you'd like a take on that. While I'm not a fan of this latest incarnation of the possible Winter Classic jersey, I for one would vote against anything that takes the team back to all black. I thought it was an okay 3rd Jersey at best and then they had it as a full time jersey which to me was painful, especially the seasons they didn't have any Orange to wear at all. This of course came in the wake of "THE BLACK JERSEY" that a lot of teams couldn't help themselves with and eventually saw the error of their ways. The Sabres come to mind as does the Sixers. Heck, even the Eagles jumped on the bandwagon for a bit but they were quick to jump back off. I guess if they could do a cool design I guess that'd be okay but black jerseys are typically that, all black and very boring... to me.
  7. Indeed, Coby needs to keep with the nasty!
  8. second that, not sure what happened since the end of last season where I thought he looked great
  9. +1 let the past be the past and move on.
  10. I like the signing. I do wish he'd play with an edge a little more than he does and give up jumping up on offense a little bit. When he plays with an edge, dude can be down right nasty, which is effective AND fun to watch. I used to like watching him jump up on the play, but he's so ineffective on offense now I l only wonder why he continues to do it with such frequency.
  11. wow. I thought it must be fake with that description. Sure enough, that's exactly how it went down. I also like how the guy doing the laughing also did the other guy a favor by taking off his helmet while the other guy is rocking a face shield.
  12. ah I see. I've never known it to mean that. I guess I'm too old school. If that's what I wanted to say I use SFU (shut the **** up). right on
  13. that and teach Eric how to skate with his head up. I'd love to know what could've been if Eric maintained his health AND maintained the same dominant level of play that he had up to around 98. Between injuries and management/parents, 99 and '00 can thrown out for what I'm getting at.
  14. seriously? I linked something you wrote then follow that up with QFT which i guess you didn't know means quoted for truth... which in cae you didn't know mean I was agree with you... way to shoot from the hip bud. would love to know what you thought I meant.
  15. wow, 38 already? where has the time gone. to be honest, no I forgot how old he was, I thought it was closer to 36. So yeah, I had him in mind to still be playing at 41. And while I think he could if he wanted, I still maintain that it'd have to be on a smaller market team, with reduced minutes/role and obviously a pay cut as well. He looks fine now and I just don't see THAT significant of a drop off in 2 years.
  16. yes and yes, though I'd like the first half to be less true than it is now.
  17. Yeah I agree about needing to restock. About Timmo, are you saying at the season's end or after next season? Either way I'd disagree about him needing to retire. He could easily continue to play and remain productive, but not at the high level we're used to. One a team without nearly the depth, he could easily remain a top 6 for 5 more years, especially if he was to drop to the 3rd paring and take a big pay cut.
  18. i would never trade for a guy who is a faceoff specialist unless he was a specialist in at the very least one other area of the game. Faceoffs are important but not so that I'd dedicate a roster spot for it.
