  1. Well, I truly don't know about the NBA. I have heard about a draft developed player exemption and like the idea. What I would like is a dollar for dollar penalty for going over the cap.So, if the Hawks want to go over the cap by 5 million to keep their players then they have to also pay 5 million to the 29 other teams with more going to worst team and less to the next worse team and so on. Another variation could be to increase the cap by the same amount for the other 29 teams rather than give them cash that some teams won't spend on players. So, in this case lets say the cap is 70 million and the Flyers go over the cap by 6 million. The Sabre's cap goes up to 70.7 million, Toronto 70.5, Edm 70.2 (i didn't crunch numbers but you get the idea). The Flyers still have to pay 6 million bucks to the league in addition to the players salaries of coarse. So, it wouldn't be chump change and it gives free cap space for other teams to use to "woo" UFA's and re-sign good players. And teams who are willing to pay the penalty and give their opposition the money/or extra cap space get to do it... Just spit balling...

  2. I get what your saying... No argument. Just that it really isn't any worse than your getting anywhere else. My home office is indeed in a spare bedroom so I'm not gonna condemn them for wherever their little studios are. We all make do with what we have. Look at it this way, Eklund is the one with a national web site and pod cast and we are the ones making fun of him. Given my choice, I'll take the INTER-national web site. He's just ridiculous at times but he has the success at it, not me.

  3. but I've completely gone over to the dark side on Crosby to the place I really do wonder if they'd be better without him.

The dark side you say? Crosby can overthrow Bettman and rule the NHL. Rux, the two of you can. Did Holmgren ever tell you what happened to your real father? Crosby is your FATHER!!!!!  (just messing around)

  4. Who is "fearing" the Hextall regime? I don't see anything about "fearing" the Hextall regime anywhere, from anybody. Here, Twitters, Facebooks - no where do I find anyone "fearing" the Hextall regime.

Fearing is MY word. What I mean is that people are ALREADY concerned if Homer and Snider will be pushing the buttons behind the scenes. They are upset about calling players out at the presser. All I'm saying is just give it time to work out. This was good news today but by my observation it's been about 60% negative response,,, Call me crazy but that's sad.

  5. What amazes me are the people already fearing how the Hextall regime will do and the guy has officially had the job for less than 2 hours. Have Flyers fans gone nuts. Just wait and see. It's not like we can do anything about it anyway.

Calling out players??? I have no problem with it.

If anyone of you have worked in a corporation (and I'm sure most do ),  but in a leadership role, then you DON'T tip your hand. Paul was justified in saying what he did last week.

I guess NO MATTER what you can't make people happy. They wanted Homer out, He's out. They want players held accountable, they where (Simmonds aside). They wanted Hexy in, He's in. Still a bunch of bit ching and moaning. Unbelievable.

  6. My animosity is about his cash grab and faking injury more than anything else. IMO, he was going to have a 1-3 year career in the NHL at BEST. Being paid league minimum. Around $500000 a year. In the AHL, the good veterans make around $100000 a year max. And Moore was a 3rd liner, not a good player even in the AHL.

Do I think he should get a few million? Sure. But no more than 3-5 at MOST.

I never said he did not have a right to damages. Just that he is trying to milk the cow.

His doctors claimed his neck was broken in 3 places and a bad concussion at the time he made the statement(Then out of sight, ripped the neck brace off). Sorry, that's bogus. Steve Moore has a law degree from his time at Harvard and he is using it to go full tilt to cash in.

That in combination of seeing things like Moore's parents also suing for a few million for  "negligent infliction of nervous shock" and "mental distress" on top of everything else. Why did Moore refuse to let anyone but his own doctors examine him? They tried to force him to get examined by second opinions and he said no.

Those points are for the court to decide but the claims seem fare so long as the "fee" is fair. I'm more disturbed about the anti-right to sue. You have a right. 60  million is dumb but some compensation should be in order. As Yav said, give a fair settlement and it all goes away.

  7. @J0e Th0rnton

I believe and I admit this is strictly speculation on my part, but I feel if Moore had not been lowballed by the league and by Bertuzzi with his 350,000 settlement offer and been offered a fair deal from the get go this would have went away a long time ago. Not saying anyone is a hero here but the black hat IMHO belongs on the league and upon Bertuzzi, not for what happened on the ice but for closing ranks after the fact and making an insulting offer.

Can't say anything but..............yep!!!! Give the guy his half mil and call it good. They will eat up way more in litigation otherwise and maybe lose. Then they'll owe 10-20 million...
