  1. Byfuglien is always rumored to the Flyers because he is another big dman, just like Coburn and Schenn, who thinks he can skate and coughs up the puck on most of his shifts. Oh and he takes bad penalties. He'd be a PERFECT Flyer defenseman. Of course, he once played in Atlanta, the home of the great defenseman and a Flyer scouting hub, so it makes him a great candidate to be traded here. I smell a 7 year deal with a NMC in the works.

  2. Philly fans could never survive the harsh seasons we endured here... The lot of them would turn into a gaggle of whiners about officiating, the NHL favoring their rivals, rigged drafts.... Oh wait...

I meant ... If the Flyers got as bad as we once were, the arena would be pillaged and burned to the ground. The Snider family beheaded and strung up in town square by their toes... And then they'd blame it all on Leon Stickle. ;)

HE WAS OFFSIDES BY 5 FEET (since 1980) ! LOL. :D

  3. you would keep mason and read. read? really....

I would keep Couturier before Read but #14 would most likely get you more on the trade market. He's a potential shut down defensive forward that teams would like to have for a playoff run. Good that they at least made a somewhat sane contract for a goalie this season.

  4. I didn't even watch or listen to the 1st and 2nd period because I couldn't, but from what I've seen it's consistently that the defense isn't mobile enough. They also trapped in their own zone when the other team aggressively forechecks with a lot of speed. They get beat to almost every loose puck along the boards in their own zone. They gave up too many shots tonight that were great scoring chances, and Mason couldn't bail them out this time.

  5. I never had a question that Meszaros is talented and would produce. The fear I have is always that he will be out more than in the lineup with chronic injuries. He's playing great since he's come back but I would still seriously consider going in another direction after this season.

  6. At this point, I would see if anyone is stupid enough to take on Hartnell's salary, and then do Timonen a favor for being a good player for us for a while, and trade him to a contender. Also, I would see what young help on D could be gotten for Read or Schenn but not Couturier. In a perfect world, I'd rather trade Coburn, but no one will want that contract unless it is part of a much bigger deal.  The organization has screwed itself into a corner because of its overloyalty of NTCs.  The farm system is getting a little better but still sucks in terms of almost NHL ready prospects.

  7. FD:  I've said it before and will say it again. I understood why the 2006-07 team was bad. They were a bunch of bad players. And the management was unaware of how the "New NHL" would work. Now we have overpaid underachievers. Homer has a collection of poop with the possible exception of goal.  Raising the salary cap will mean little with current management at the helm.

    Howie,

The team was old and slow in 2006-07, and they had no goaltending. In our current team's particular case, our defense is unacceptably slow and old, and they don't have the offensive firepower to compensate for it. Their goaltending couldn't have been blamed last year, and SURE AS HELL can't be this year. Berube stopped the bleeding with a band-aid for a while with a slight system change, but this team ain't making it anywhere anyway.  I said it before and I'll say it again, if Snider has any pride as an owner he'll fire Homer TOMORROW and hire from outside his buddy system.

  8. It wasn't anyone in Orange and black's night. The Blackhawks know Emery very well, and their SLOW, SLOPPY defense was getting beat to every loose puck along the boards the entire game. Oh and I'm tired of seeing Hartnell's overpaid a*s too. Time for him, Coburn, L. Schenn to find another team.  When you lose the battle along the boards against the Hawks, and let them have EASY access into the zone, you have ZERO shot to win. Tonight's game is a prime example.  Snider and Holmgren can now make a damage control appearance on TV tonight and tell all their season ticket holder's and delusional fans that they're in great shape and don't need to do a thing. I know Chicago's a really good team, but they got COMPLETELY EXPOSED tonight.

    http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/sports/flyers/Report-Giroux-in-minor-accident.html

Flyers captain Claude Giroux's car was hit while parked in a parking lot, but the center said he was not in the auto when the incident happened Friday night.

Giroux will try to snap a 21-game goal-less streak Saturday afternoon against Edmonton.

The Flyers, off to their worst offensive start in franchise history, will attempt to snap out of their scoring funk against an Oilers team that is allowing a league-high 3.82 goals per game.

The Flyers are averaging an NHL-low 1.47 goals per game.

Someone please tell me why Sam C. wasted space on this topic....(forgive my sarcastic tone)

I'm really starting to hated Philly media.........

At least somebody in the parking lot can hit a target accurately...sorry, couldn't resist.
