Gross!... the way he's moving his 'teeth'.. (not sure how real those were at that point in his career)... still pretty nasty looking.
-
It's so hard to compare athletes from different generations...especially kids to adults. But it would probably be fair to say that Morin has better foot speed and overall athleticism but may lack the intangibles/leadership that Derian showed.

Fairly certain you're just being smarmy... but reallly... not too many other stars taken after Kane that year. Alzner would've been nice I guess.
-
No thanks. We know what were going to get out of Read... and we HOPE we get more out of Schenn. To give up 2 rising stars for some peaked/diminishing players sounds like the old flyers. The pick would be nice, but it's going to be a 20th overall or something anyways. I'd have to pass.

That's very odd... I'm not a Canes' fan by any means, but I still heard his name in the odd highlight package etc... He always seemed like a poor man's Read/Whitney.
To completely drop off the face of the Earth like that sounds like an emotional problem or substance abuse or something. Odd.

You really think that Ottawa can outduel Pitts for the regular season trophy?... As a Canadian, I wouldn't mind seeing it, I just can't. They picked up an over-rated Bobby Ryan and lost their Rudder/Guide of the past 20 yrs.
I can see them kinda stumbling out of the gate as they acquire new leadership.
-
Ah... you're talking playoffs. I thought you meant regular season. And if that was the case, I don't see any reason why Pitts won't be there on top.

1) Didn't G and Voracek have good chemistry last year?? I don't know why you'd split them up.
2) Am I crazy or did we not resign Adam Hall?
3) I don't think Hartnell can keep up with a top 2 line anymore

Giroux - Voracek - Simmonds
Vinny - Read - Hartnell
Couts - Schenn - Gagne (*)
Hall - Talbot - Rinaldo
That's how I'd line'm up. If Gags does not come back, I guess you move up Talbot and slot McGin on that 4th line.

Pretty hard to be "under-rated" in this day in age... so much media... so much exposure, it's hard NOT to get coverage...
Jiri Tlusty for sure... he was such a scrub on Toronto... didn't he get busted for sexting his weiner or something?? He lit it up last year without much acclaim.
I guess Seidenberg/Ference do a pretty darn good job in Boston without too much hype.
Simmonds/Voracek maybe

I actually think that previous mask belonged to Pelle!?...
I don't know much about Pelle b/c of my age, but I think that's his.

@JR Ewing Are you Sam Gagner's agent?
You can draw upon whatever stats you'd like, but I don't think it's a surprise that both cup finalists were beasts on draws. The flyers also struggle to win faceoffs and it puts SO MUCH pressure on the goalies/dmen to come up big time and again especially when the draw takes place in the d-zone.
I'm not as much interested in the big picture of faceoffs vs wins as I'd be interested in the importance of winning so called "big draws"... ie) 30 secs left in the game up by one....
Toronto was missing Bozak's faceoff ability BIG TIME against the Broons this past playoffs... pretty sure winning a few extra faceoffs and controlling more of the game during the last 10 mins would have been nice.
-
@jammer2 The only thing I could think of is that while in the O-zone or on the PP, they have more 'set' plays that involve wingers coming in to help retrieve scrambled draws??
-
http://stats.tabita.org/faceoffs/player/sam_gagner
You might wanna tap some of those wingers and ask them to try to play center...
-
60 pt player??... he had ONE projected year at that pace and multiple 40'ish years.
Log jam... you cannot have 75% of your salary locked up in forwards and that's what it looks like for you guys. Wing, center, whatever... can you really have your 5th or 6th best forward making 5 mil +/-??
The only positive thing is that it is a relatively short deal. By the time the other young guys are demanding cash, he can be dealt then.
-
Waaay too much imo for a guy that has only shown small glimpses of living up to his promise. I think he's in that 3.5 mil range...
I just think when you've got the forward log jam they've got, they'd have been better off dealing him for defense/goaltending.
-
What a hard prediction to make... considering the question marks in net and on the blueline... I think we're 7th or 8th.
-
That team's been poor for years... other than a lucky 'streak' to the finals in... '04??... they've been mediocre at best for probably 20 yrs. Underfunded and mismanaged... a dangerous combo.

Seems like a smart 3rd round pick.... who did we take again???? A rinaldo clone who was the 152nd ranked North-American skater???
-
It'll be nice not having to see man-rat-pig boy 6x per year. That fugly bastard always seemed to score against us... the resulting closeups were just as painful.

Dammit... i didn't care if we overpaid as long as it meant the end of brzsieveov.
-
I hate him in person... he just irks me. I think it's his mannerisms. I don't mind his writing though.
-
I could take an awful lot of losing... even another 'write-off' season if it means we ditch that chump.

Flyers have the best fans in NHL?
in Philadelphia Flyers
Posted · Edited by fishbulb
1) The reason why there are so many Flyer Posts on this site is b/c most of us came from another forum that was solely for the flyers. Probably 90% of us here are flyers fans as a result.
2) While the Flyers are notorious for having some "crazy/rabid" fans.... I would say that there have been MANY times over the past 5-10 years that the Wach/First Union/Wells Fargo... center has sounded like a funeral was going on. Not that we've had a ton to cheer about recently, but it seems like many of the passionate fans are being pushed out to make way for more of a 'business' man type person... high prices, etc. These people are not going to be as loud as your average blue collar fan.
IMO, there are more VOCAL/LOUD fans in many other cities. Winnipeg, Edmonton, Chicago, Montreal,... I've even heard the Predators' crowd get pretty loud.
Just my 2cents
