  1. Dude your blind Bryz hate has officially sent you over the edge. I can't say I agree with one sentence in that entire post. Signing Bryz was the exact thing to do when you lose a Stanley Cup because of bad goaltending. I will admit Bryz has not played up to his contract, that is hard to argue, but it ends there for me. I'm not calling the guy a "clown" becasue he has a personality, I'm not hating him because he's overpaid and average without a D in front of him, and I'm not saying management doesn't know what they are doing when they went after the best FA goalie they could after Leighton played like crap against the Blackhawks. Perspective is important here - It took Bob two months to play well enough to beat out Mason, and he's been hot the last two weeks, but there is no indication he would be a better fit than Bryz. None. Esp since he had a sub .900 GAA average as of two weeks ago before he got hot. You think this team would take a chance with an unproven guy who consistently lost focus rather than a proven vet like Bryz who had success in the NHL? No way. This is just cherry picking. Don't worry and look at the bright side - Bryz will 100% get bought out this summer, so you have some time to find another high paid player to roast next year once he's gone.
  2. Good point with Carle, I agree that loss really hurt us. In that context I can see the Bryz contract backlash, but I just don't get it when people take it personal and start hating the individual. I will admit he's played average on a below average 2013 Flyers team.
  3. I understand your frustration, but really? Do you honestly think this team would be ANY better with Bob instead of Bryz? I don't. This team stinks in several areas, including an average goalie paid like a great one. But Bryz is not the reason this team might miss the playoffs. Bob is 6-0-2 in his last 8 starts, with a total of............ 9 wins on the season. A month a go he had a sub .900 sv % with a GAA above 3. He couldn't even beat out Steve Mason as the starting goalie when the season started. He's hot right now and it shows, but he's not the next Brodeur or any reason the fans should be that upset. Bryz played just as well last March headed into the playoffs and he's been the best player on this team for much of the season, including him winning the last game for us vs. the Devils.
  4. The last Devils loss created a huge buzz in the locker room with the coach, Homer and the players. With this said, I think they come out tonight with a solid win, they almost have to. If not I think they could be "done" as Bryz noted.
  5. Good for Bryz. It's not a newsflash that this team sucks right now, so he's stating the obvious. His play has been good enough this year for the team to contend, can't say the same for the rest of the team or coaching staff.
  6. Wow, Pronger is in bad shape. Just listened to the interview and it was really somber. Doctors are not sure he'll ever recover fully at this point or live a "normal" life.
  7. The only bad goal last night you can pin on Bryz was Nash's first goal. The other three were all defensive breakdowns. Before you anoint Lundquist as so much better maybe look at the D and tight checking the Rangers employ - it's not even close to compare the two teams.
  8. I don't know why you guys think this shortened season is any better on Timo. This season is going to be a sprint, 4 games a week with back to back games more common. This means less recovery time, and for a 38 yr old player this will be a challenge, IMO. Gotta think Homer has a trade brewing, esp if Bryz plays poor due to poor protection in front of him. Also think Grossman is way undervalued in here by some of you. The guy is a beast in front of the crease and is going to be Bryz's best friend this season.
  9. Sorry but the bash Bryz stuff because he likes outer space is just tired/old. Just because he is overpaid is not a free pass to criticize him for everything. I'll lighten up........
  10. Big ******* deal, there is no NHL season, so who cares if he's checking out the Russian space camp? Was John Glenn nuts? Carl Sagan nuts? Galieo nuts? Why is it wrong to be intrigued by the universe? Is there a law that says if you play hockey then you can only dwell on hockey 100% of the time and have no thoughts of anything more complex than a left-wing lock? You guys are a fickle ******* bunch in here!
  11. So in his first game in 5 months he gives up 4 goals, with at least one of them entirely not his fault, and we should start the hate back up? WTF? Nowhere does the article mention his benching, it just said he didn't play. Simmonds hasn't scored a goal yet in any of his games, neither has Fedotenko, why not start a thread ripping these guys?
  12. I hear ya Idaho, and I recognize this is positive - no criticism of you posting it, I like the article. I was being a smartass towards the Bryz haters who hijacked the thread with their never ending hate/anger towrds the dude. Part of it is also that I've been away from the forum for a while and my first time checking back in today I see more of the same negtivity that dominated the conversation most of last season - even when he played really well the entire second half of the season. I really like the guy and think he'll play great if these owners would just get their **** together and get the season back on track.
  13. Here's hoping that Pronger makes a recovery from this, it's been a bad year for him with these constant headaches and dizziness. Feel for the guy whether he ever plays again or not.
  14. Season in doubt and a Bryz hate thread going strong already? This was a positive article, way to Debbie down ****.
  15. It was a great season with Jagr, but it is also apparent that he faded bad by the end of the season and we could use the $ going after Parise - because that is who Homer is after most (according to Pang, Morganti, Jones).
  16. He's lethal on the power play and a great locker room guy for the younger players. I'm fine with it, but it is a bit on the luxury side like you said.
  17. Fair enough Sarsi, my thin skin in dealing with player criticism is showing it's ugly head. I agree that he played below the level of his contract, but his play in March proved to me it was not a mistake bringing him in....and that he is a good enough & component to build around for a cup run in 2013. I also agree with your assessment on his lateral movement, it makes me cringe at times too. Overall I vented at you on one of my biggest pet pieves as a Philly fan that goes beyond just Bryz: the over the top abuse and criticism many of our star players endure. From Schmidt, to Lindros to Rolen to McNabb, to Bryz, it seems if a player is not a sterotypical man-card macho player, or even a little on the sensitive side, the fanbase tends to come down too hard on our guys. The booing of Lindros the first time he returned as a Ranger and every time he touched the puck........it still disgusts me a decade later. So I tend to jump the gun over the "he sucks" crap you hear all too often with our star players, including Bryz who I think is great/funny guy and a darn good goalie. Sorry to jump on you with the rant, nothing personal obviously. I'm going to keep it quiet for a while on the Bryz cheerleading, I think I've made my point well enough in various threads.
  18. Funny thing is....this place is philly.com, just with a much better format and an actual moderator who kills trolls. As long as people come in here and blind hate on my beloved Flyers players, including our goalie, I'm going to push back. It's called standing up to the loudmouths in the room and supporting the players on your team. I know, it's a foreign concept to many Philly fans, you know, the whole idea of getting behind and supporting a slumping player or having the patience beyond the level of a 3 year old child. Weird you can't understand the Ryan Howard analogy either, but part of me thinks you just want to bust my balls for standing up to the bryz haters. Here's the cliff notes, much of the Philly fanbase jumped on Howard last season after he got a huge contract and was not Babe Ruth (ignoring the Babe Ruth numbers he's had the previous 5 years). Now this year with Howard being out hurt, the middle of the Phillies lineup is one of the worst in baseball in terms of production. My point is that if you take the Bryz away from this team you would have a similar situation. I think the dopes calling Howard overpaid and overrated all last season look pretty stupid right now, just as many of the Bryz haters would look pretty stupid should the Flyers get stuck with Bob or some no-name in net next year. You can think of all these other goalies you'd rather have? Really? Let me guess where most of them are right now. Oh yea.....sitting home watching just as Bryz is. Even if Patrick Roy came back in his prime half this town would micro analyze every game, every shot, call him overpaid and want half a dozen other goalies in the league of him instead because he didn't bring us a cup. Not trying to single you out either, I'm sure you are a die hard. Just so many people want to scapegoat the goalie when the team was never good enough to win the cup even if he stood on his head and they still come in here everyday and complain about him as if it was all his fault. Can't we just enjoy the game/sport without all the vile anger towards OUR players?
  19. Jesus this will be a long off season if people can't stop complaining about Bryz every ****** day in here. Get over it, he's OUR goalie and is not half as bad as the same group keeps harping he is, not matter how many stats Rad throws at everyone. Could he have played better - yes. Is he overpaid - yes. Is it worth complaining about daily and creating a false sense of reality that he is some terrible bum - no. Here's a novel idea: support your players and leave the booing/jeers for the other team's players. Look how stupid everyone who complained about Ryan Howard/his contract looks right about now. Seems the Phillies are in last place and can't score any runs with guys in scoring position. Guess they actually need this guy and was not so bad huh? Seems that paying $20 million to your power hitting 1B is now basically the norm huh (Pujols, Votto, Fielder, Tex, etc)? You think the Flyers would be any different next year with another goalie instead of Bryz? Try they would be a much worse team without him just as the Phillies are proven to be without Howard.
  20. The thing that bugs me is the New Jersey label when they play outside NYC and have a pretty exculsive North Jersey fan base. Every other team that plays in that area calls themselves New York, so should the the Devils, IMO. I grew up in south jersey 20 mins from Philly and when I went to college in North Jersey people would actually give me grief for being a Flyer fan because I was "from NJ". Didn't matter that they played 2 hours from my house, were never on tv and the Spectrum was 20 minutes from where I grew up. I lived up there for seven years and never really liked it. Most Devils fans I know are ok, but a lot are certainly a bit of a spoiled fan base who all "hate the Flyers". Not sure why they all hate us so much, seems they have won every important series against the Flyers and 3 Stanley Cups in the past 10 years or so. Flyers are called "dirty" when it seems I remember their premier defensemen nearly killing Lindros, who was never the same after the hit, when he did not need to lay him out as bad as he did. Not our fault we have to show up and help them sell out their building when the Flyers play up there, but I guess that is reason enough to hate another fan base as they all hate us. They're just a really spoiled fan base who would be completely non-existent if they never employed the worst hockey strategy/scheme ever invented (trap),Brodeur and the cups they brought them.
  21. Nice breakdown Radoran. Pretty obvious Bryz does not deserve half the hate he's getting. Kind of reminds me of the Ryan Howard situation with the Phillies. Most of these message boards did nothing but rip him the minute he got his contract extension. Overpaid, not worth it, overrated, etc. Now he's out of the lineup and the team can't score any runs.......so I guess all the idiots calling him overpaid all of last season look a little short sighted - and thats being nice. Bryz did not look like a world beater, I guess you have to be the absolute best or nothing in this town or its not good enough.
