  1. If Tippett wants 6 mill on a multi year deal, hes getting traded. Thing is, I can't see his agent NOT asking for that. Its in and around the going rate for a youngish 2nd line winger that can score. If I'm Danny, I'm not investing. A few reasons... 1) Just because its the going rate does not mean it fits the Flyers situation. The Flyers are in a spot where they cannot, under any circumstances, miss on a long term deal. This has a chance to miss. 2) One dimensional players often struggle in the playoffs. Teams game plan and take away that dimension. The fact his thing is speed makes it harder to take away, but I've seen it done. Knowing he won't properly utilize teammates makes it even easier. 3) Hockey IQ matters...it separates average from elite.
  2. It is indeed a crap shoot. There IS an obvious co-relation to the players FC listed though. That would be the upper echelon teams that picked them. With a hard cap firmly in place, smart teams will pile the money into uncapped areas, like coaching and scouting. Tampa Bay, Boston, Carolina, Pittsburgh (not this year, but you know what I mean), all successful franchises who hire competent scouts...and lots of them.
  3. Pleased, but not fooled by the current place in the standings. Not to say its a mirage, because the new and improved defense is legit, which is the true driving force behind the resurgence...that and Torts demand on maximum effort. That said, I hope the best for this current version of the Flyers (obviously)...BUT...DO NOT lose sight of the real prize ...LORD STANLEY. If this current group of overachieving players needs to be sacrificed to promote long term greatness...HAVE AT IT! Personally, I think at least 3 or 4 trades need to take place to further the rebuild. Laughton, Walker, Seeler, Tippett and Hart (latter 2 greatly dependant on contract demands). Do not, under any circumstances re up on a player approaching 30 at this stage of the rebuild. Do NOT block the way for cheaper kids to make a real impact on the roster. Tippett is a hard one. I believe he's gonna ask for 6 mill a year and I'd rather move on than pay that. Ditto with Hart, who will demand 8-10 mill a year in a massive long term deal....pass. Get what you can...wisely and let Esson take the reigns, risky...yes...prudent...another yes.
  4. Now the turd is basically calling Danny and Jones liars...dig that hole a little deeper douche!!
  5. I predict the heart and work ethic of JVR with a bit of frosty tips mixed in. I think Anthony Mantha will eventually be a nice comp.
  6. You do realize waiting could turn catastrophically bad for the Flyers. It would be a dangerous and franchise altering miscue. Tack on just 6 more months and the offers don't go down...they stop and in 1.5 years he goes to the highest bidder. What more would you stand to gain? A mid level prospect? Another 2nd rd pick? There HAS to be some risk assessment tied to waiting it out...no? How about this angle...if Cutter escapes with no return, Jones and Danny are 100% fired. You willing to risk the entire rebuild AND your multi million dollar job to get another 2nd rd pick?
  7. Going one step further...it would be unprofessional to NOT speak to the guy who drafted him.
  8. Then why say he wanted to be a Flyer, even stating he was made to be a Flyer?? Even for a 19 year old, its unmanly, immature and cowardly. If you feel THAT strongly about your love of Mario and Crosby *(beyond gross)...MAN UP AND SAY IT!! This is trailer park crap at its finest!
  9. Love these stats. Its fair to guesstimate whoever Drys is paired with will experience the same uptick. I have no doubt in my mind Danny and Jones poured over this stat among others. That is the pure beauty of this deal...its tangible...you dont have to project...you KNOW your getting an NHL ready defenseman with high character and high upside. The guess work is basically nullified as opposed to picks or non NHL prospects, but he's obviously young enough to fit right into the long term rebuild. I think that is exactly what they were aiming for...100% guaranteed NHL talent that can help the future and present....smart.
  10. Another thing to factor in here....what this rebuild is all about, winning the cup. That means long arduous rounds where you literally have to fight for every inch of ice. When a player will not sacrifice his body to maintain possession...that is a weak spot that will be exploited. Especially when that player is in the top 6 and getting tons of ice time. The more I read, the more I'm thrilled it turned out this way!
  11. This is a very interesting quote from this guy. My running theory is that he has no plans to change his cherry picking selfish style and he KNEW it would land him square in Torts dog house! Avoiding all this mess and moving on was the easy solution. He would have been hated playing that style in Philly...without a doubt! This dude sounds like JVR 2.0...if this post is correct, we avoided a major landmine!!
  12. I have this mental image of Danny and Keith looking at all the league wide offers, figuring out the Ducks was the best and throwing things in disgust. I'm sure they did their due diligence...but Drysdale is clearly a tier below Cutter on the difference making scale. This seemingly entitled brat set the rebuild back. Figures...clearly the best thing Fletch EVER did was a mirage...lol.
  13. Ha! Stinkville/Denmark...didn't even see your post and both came up with stinky...hilarious!
  14. I read "rumors" that Cutter did not want to go to College...wanted to jump to the NHL as an 18 year old. I would imagine the Flyers insisted at least 1 year of NCAA would be best for his development.. This could explain the rift if true....
  15. Knew something smelled bad in Stinkville with that weak "I'm tired, played a lot of Hockey latley". This coming from an 18 year old kid with a chance to impress your future employer?? Stunk from the get go.
  16. Not happy. Danny did ok because you KNOW the other GMs all knew he did not wanna sign here.. dealing from an obvious position of weakness. Like the pp ability and RH shot...dont like the size or injury history. Im gonna assume he takes a top 4 position...which; on the bright side frees up Risto/Seeler and or Walker to be traded for more assets. Obviously a drop down in size and talent...but Danny had a gun to his head. Pissed.
  17. Laughton gonna score in the 3rd...can feel it in my bones...SO DUE!!
  18. Wonder what Jimmy Devallano's son is doing these days? Did Jimmy pass on the secret Russian smuggling secrets that freed Federov?!
  19. Its the prospect...but just as important, their immediate family. They will pay the price for th player fleeing. Either murder or jail...punishing or killing loved ones is a sick but effective deterrent.
  20. The Flyers and the rest of the League knew this type of ruling was a distinct possibility. It's the main reason such an immense talent was available at pick #6. Most agree, an aggressive move with an acceptable risk attached. I always thought getting MM Stateside would involve smuggling him and his entire family out of harms way. Anyone left behind is gonna be jailed...or probably just straight up murdered.
  21. Merry Pods...Not to be to dark, but Elf on a Shelf, meet shoot Risto with a Pistol...lol. Seriously though, I get Danny and Jones refuse to just give away assets. There is a place where this strategy hampers a team. Its where the Street called Addition by Subtraction intersects with Financially Prudent Boulevard. Sure, milk EVERYTHING for all its worth, its written into your actual job description...BUT...sometimes this philosophy does not jive with your PRIMARY goal...actually winning the Stanley Cup. Serious Question...name a Stanley Cup Champ with a top 4 Defenceman that is outrageously bad? Then add outrageously bad to 5+ mill for 3 more years on Stanley Cup Champs...the query becomes more impossible with each addition. The moral of this long drawn out summary is: sometimes seeking the best possible deal is actually detrimental to your goals. The reality in today's NHL is 5 teams have cap space. Attempting to deal with the other 27 teams is messy. No matter who you plug into Ristos spot, your team becomes smarter instantly. Cap space on a rebuilding team is MUCH more important than a defensive liability with an albatross contract. Hard hitting defensive Defensemen are one of the easier things to replace in Hockey. Zadrov just went for a 5th rd pick...has the same skill set, minus a bit of mobility but much smarter at his actual role. Getting too cute could give you years of migraines, limited cap space AND fellow teammates wondering "where is the accountability"...because the second he is benched for sub par play, the odds of striking a decent deal become less likely than Hans Gruber pulling off a successful heist in Die Hard...AND YES, THIS WAS A CHRISTMASY COMPARISON!!
  22. I dunno what the Flyers were thinking? When I initially read reports that other teams were interested, I was cautiously thrilled. I figured Danny was trying to milk the situation ie lower or eliminate money retained. They overplayed their hand...LARGE. You get a chance to rid yourself of an albatross contract attached to a top 4 Dman with a disgustingly low hockey IQ...YOU DO IT...QUICK!!
  23. Bad news, good news. Our 1st round d man Bonk has made Team Canada! Unfortunately, Denver Barkey was one of the 4 Forwards cut. Apparently, the Team will add one more forward. That spot is being held for Benson (Buffalo prospect) or Potrios ( 3rd line Center for Boston currently). If neither of those guys is released, 1 of the 4 forwards cut from camp takes the final spot. Firkus was considered the front runner, but apparently had a sub par camp. He's the best pure sniper available, but his less than stellar play may have opened the door for Barkey. Remember, a Forward usually gets hurt during the physical Tournament...so hope is still there for Denver!
