Mezaros and Carle had a hell of a game. Bryzgalov played lights out. I understand that the team is gassed, but they were all too sloppy in the 3rd. They had the Pens on the ropes and then let off the gas. Anyhow, to me this is what we are paying the man to do, win games and he has been doing just that. I hope Saturday we see Bobrovsky though just to get a little break for Bryzgalov.

@radoran You hit the nail on the head. I think that the enforcer role needs to be gone. These guys really contribute nothing to the game and yet they put themselves out there night in and night out. For what? Maybe the team gets fired up? Maybe not. It's not worth what they do to their body in the end.

This 3 part article put a lot into perspective about the game and fighting. Would a non-fighting league saved Derick's life? Maybe, maybe not. I think the doctors need to be more responsible on what they are prescribing. In addition, enough with the cover ups. If a player is rehab for substance abuse then let it be known. That could have saved his life. If there would have been a more watchful public eye on the player and the staff, maybe this could have been avoided. What do I think of fighting in the NHL? I am ready to take some sh!t for this, but ban it. It's that simple.

@flyercanuck I guess it's a fine line with some people FC. For example, if I called a Native American a black hawk, red skin, or an indian, they probablly would get pissed. However, if you called anybody a Leaf Fan 90% of people would throw down.

@flyercanuck Not to take this too far off course, but is Eskimo a derogatory term? I am not asking to be a wise-ass, I just really want to know. Is it a blanket term, or an insult? The reason I ask, is I try and be PC and I do not want to throw that term around if it offends people. On to Asham, he is Metis, right? Which also has me confused. Is Metis a combonation of Canadian 1st Nation People and French or Scottish Europeans? Kind of like American or Louisiana Creole people? Homer needs to hire a cap guru to help him out. What's next, recall Betts after he passes a physical? If Walker gets claimed we are screwed. The only way this works if......no nevermind this does not work. Is he that frustrated with the 5-6 pairing that he is willing to burn what little cap space they have left? Makes no sense to me.

@idahophilly We need Jmdodgers to post some more. He has an inside guy that knows a little something something now and again. He had an inside bead on the Carter/Richards ordeal. There was another site that had a guy that was spot on in regards to Bryzgalov coming in and Richards and Carter going out and this was back in May 2 weeks after our playoff bounce. @doom88 I am pretty sure my OP said not to do it unless the deal was too good to pass up. I believe I called Bobrovsky a franchise goalie too. It was just mere examples of D men that the Flyers can afford and suit thier needs. I am going to say that Volchenkov is tougher than anything we have right now and we need some toughness that can actually play the position on the blue line. We have offensivly talented blue liners that cannot live up to their end of the deal because they are playing off their game. Carle will not be resigned and I am pretty sure we all know this. Bob is the X factor in my opinion. I wouldn't move him unless we get a solid young player back in return. Anyhow, what we really need to do is hunker down and wait for Pronger and Lilja to get back in the line up. If we make a move now, we will severely overpay in the end. I do not like the look of our blue line, but it is what it is until January.

@Vanflyer I think Timmo is great, but he is getting up there in years. The problem is most NHL, no make that all know that we are getting killed on the blue line and need help. That said any logical GM is going to want an asset in return. Best case scenario is we make due with what we have and our netminders step it up till Pronger returns. I don't think we need any more offensive dmen and need a good nasty stay at home guy that is responsible in the neutral zone and has a booming shot. Oh wait that sounds like Pronger.....man this is tough seeing him out again. In any case, I would rather have Toni Lydman to anchor a pairing with Timmonen and offer Anahiem some offensive help.

There are two that I want that are priced well and mean. 1) Toni Lydman 2) Anton Volchenkov The problem is what to give up? I would never give NJ a franchise goalie under any circumstances, unless the deal is too good to be true. We give them our 2nd this year, Bobrovsky, Carle. They give us Volchenkov and Adam Larsson. Now I know this will never happen, but here is my logic. We take the risk with Larsson panning out and they get a solid puck moving defenseman that they are lacking. On with the Ducks. I have no clue what to offer. Bob would probably sit behind Hiller and their O lines look good. Maybe some picks and some salary the other way.

Pronger is a game changer. I just do not understand all the injuries. If you all could only buy out one, which would it be Pronger or Bryzgalov. I say Pronger. I have a lot of respect for him, but it just seems that his better playing days are behind him. Bryzgalov on the other hand. I still am shaking my head on..... oh well 8.75 years to go.

If you could get a 2009 do-over would you all rather have Jay Bouwmeester? Pronger just fell the f apart over the last two seasons. I hope that the new CBA allows buyouts.
