this is great work. obviously some of those stats can be misleading at times, but 38 games is a decent sample size. doom's post showing the score breakdown illustrated is even further. by your #s, bryzgalov has had a 'below average' game in 24 out of 32 games played. i still think he can turn it around, maybe with the 24/7 cameras out of the way he will focus better.

sort of irrelevant, but has anyone noticed giroux is credited with the primary assist on jagr's goal? they correctly gave the other assist to carle, but that was hartnell's pass, giroux skated nearby at the blue line but never touched the puck. clearly a league conspiracy to get giroux the scoring title.

on the first goal he got a well deserved minus. he lost the faceoff clean, which led to that weak point shot. plus it looked to me like he was turning to get out of the way of the shot, instead of blocking it, while possibly deflecting it, but at the very least creating a serious screen on bryz (who went down faster than yo momma). the rest of the game i noticed him a couple times, but not really for doing anything well. hes put up huge stats in the AHL but not for any more than 3 or 4 games at a time. give him 20-30 games down there once couturier is healthy and then bring him up in the spring if he looks ready after a lengthy stretch in the minors.

also it looked to me like Prust made contact with his helmet/visor, sending the bottom edge of the visor into his nose. id bet that hurts worse than a fist to the schnoz given the bottom edge of those are not dull...

i was there, sat in the club level across from the benches, on the side of the goal the flyers shot at 1st and 3rd periods. actually scored a lower level ticket for 10 bucks from a scalper ($94 face value), but had a friend who works in the club level get us in there, plenty of empty seats up there to find. also had a group of flyers fans sitting right in front of us.

interestng comparison between shannahans observations. personally, i felt a game for the rinaldo hit was a make up for no games for the miller hit. the call on borque is just awful.. a decent hit where a guy turned at the wrong time. lucic only got suspended because of the miller outrage.

i was there. at the game. bryz looked incredibly slow. he used to be good in the SO. Good defense in PHX cant increase SO record. he took his paycheck and sat. not that he cant recover...but he obviously took that first big payckeck and sat on it

shows what they think of the future of hockey in florida. I mean, is it not painfully obvious? all of the other conferences are matched up by region. then they put the florida teams with buffalo, boston, and the eastern canada teams. perfect for moves to quebec city, hamilton, hartford, etc. how long before the west teams are fed up with the 4-out-of-8 vs 4-out-of-7 alignment? even moving one team east still doesnt solve it, as there would still be a 7 team division in each conference. 4 divisions only works with 28 or 32 teams.

i found it interesting that while the flyers have the most penalty minutes (by a decent margin), they also have the most penalty minutes against (more pims against than for, believe it or not) and have the 2nd most powerplay opportunities. Ive always felt the flyers got the short end of the stick on penalties, and ive always attributed that to the reputation of the team as the broad st bullies. not saying there is any conspiracy, or even intentional bias, but if you grow up around hockey outside philly you are taught that the flyers are dirty, physical, and mostly fighting goons. refs expect lots of penalties in a flyers game, and sharpen their focus on penalties for those games, calling the games tight both ways, but with an inherent focus on what the guys in o&b are doing

anyone at the game catch the mites action between 2nd and 3rd periods? at the very end of a south park-esque scoreless adventure, a kid from the team in orange grabs the puck and skates in on his own net on a 'breakaway' before beating his own goalie, at which point he throws his arms up in celebration, then gets immediately DECKED by one of his teammates. they even showed a replay on the scorebord a few minutes later. the crowd roared. anyone get/see any video of it?

dunno...i would classify Voracek as one of our better setup wingers, 9 assists this season so far. Read provides excellent speed and energy, with a little finish pop. Doesnt sound like a bad combo. put JVR on the 3rd line until he pulls his head outta his ass.

i'm with aziz on this.....say whatever you want about miller, but thats a dirty hit by lucic. everyone knows you dont go after the goalie, and lucic didnt simply 'carry momentum' into miller. like aziz said, he lowered his shoulder, ignored the puck, and drilled miller. i dont know the interpretation of the rules as far as should it be 2 or 5, but i think he should get a couple games for it. lord knows had the same situation occured from a member of the o&b people would be pushing for 10 games at least, coupled with endless mentions of snowballs hurled in santas direction.
