I like Raffl's game. Strong on his skates. Strong, powerful strides, almost like Kovalchuk. Likes to be physical. Seems skilled. Hope it comes through with some confidence. He might be one to watch.
-
None in recent memory, anyway. I could say that about 95% of the team, though.
true

I think he is just too slow. He has no game whatsoever. Not even flash's.

First trade will occur tomorrow night after the Flyers are humiliated by Cindy and the Pens on National TV.
Oh god, I know. They will be murdered tomm night. Gonna be ugly.
-
I vote for selling out for high draft picks. Sell the whole F*****G team for all I care.

No worries...
We don't need a fresh perspective activestick!
hahaha.

It won't... There is no cap issue. He is still a member of the NHL PA and will only be an issue when he can't be on the LTIR. Once the season starts he does not count against the cap. The NHL can't make him retire so he simply sits on the LTIR...
It is a non issue...
Gotcha. Thank you Mr. Snider.....lovely portrait by the way.
-
We never rebuild we just retool...
It will have no effect on the cap during the season bc he will sit on LTIR until his contact runs out...
I'm not so sure about that since they admit he will not play again. Seems to me that the admission will eliminate the LTIR rule. How could it not?
-
With the team admitting that Pronger will never play again, doesn't this have a major salary cap recourse? This could be a cap disaster, unless the plan is to sell everything and start over.
-
I thought the entire team had a NTC/NMC.
good point

Because you know it will happen.

Not disappointed only because I didn't expect them to win. They were overwhelmed in there own zone many times. The goals they did score were fluky. They generate little offense even strength. The top line is pathetic. And all this is against Florida....Florida! The next 10-12 games against quality opponents could already be the end of the season if they don't come around.
Mason had great game though. He's the reason they won.
-
I'd much rather see Vorack and Shenn on a line with Giroux
I agree. Because right now, the top line doesn't exist. No goals in 4 games is unacceptable.

As crazy as it sounds, these next 10 or 11 games can make or break the season. Real tough schedule coming up.

You all make very valid points. The problem is that if regime change is what you want, it won't be happening anytime soon with Hexy in line to take the reigns. But then again, he did learn under from a cup winner. Should be interesting.
-
I'm afraid he's too slow to play an offensive game in this league.

I am convinced that the people asking "why the Snider hate?" haven't been Flyers fans for very long. It just seems to me that maybe the utter frustration might not have set in yet if you're only following the team for 10 or 15 years or less (although at 15 years, it should be pushing it).
@activestick, I honestly am not trying to insult you and apologize in advance if it doesn't apply to you (although, in that case, I can't comprehend your question).
No need to apologize. But, I will be 48 next week and have been a Flyer fan since birth. My point is, I place the blame squarely on the players.
-
I see both of your points and understand your frustrations, but in my opinion a large majority of the blame falls on the players.
-
I don't get it. I'd take an Ed Snider type of owner any day. He's committed to success, his thinking, has a REAL passion to win, is willing to make or go along with the hard decisions and willing to throw the bank at it to make it happen. What more do you want from an owner? Those guys called "the players" have a little something to do with whether a season will be a success.

He didn't seem to play very much last night. They had him on the 3rd line for some reason. Late in the game they put him back on with Hartnell and Giroux.
He must still be banged up.
-
Is he still hurt?
-
It's Homer we're talking about, anyone is already trade bait.
haha, noted.
-
If things start off bad, I think it would be Homer who goes first. That would put the whole team on alert that with a new GM coming in, anyone is trade bait. Stressing the word ANYONE.

Trade for young talent. Don't trade to save this season.
