  1. Article from Meltzer...but here is a name no one is talking about...and he plays Right Wing. He made 4.5 last year, so $$ could be an issue.

I think Doan is the guy the Flyers are targeting. Parise will cost too much and Ryan and Nash will cost too much in players going the other way.

Doan plays with a ferocious style. I'd take him in a heartbeat. And I would defenitely take him over Jagr if given the choice.

  2. when he was sent packing to Columbus?

Bob, "I'm in shock, I expected to be a Flyer for life." "I am too distraught to report to Columbus, their Coach and GM will have to come to the shore and talk me into playing there." "If I only had a drinking buddy that I could cry my way into forcing a trade out of Columbus for"

I can tell you one thing. He's gonna see more rubber than a two bit whore.

  3. He would be a nice addition to the Flyer's line up. If Homer want to show how clever he is,now would be the time!

If this rumor is reality, they almost have to pull the trigger. Giroux needs a winger that can keep up with him and finish. It would likely take JVR and our #1 pick this year to get it done.

  4. Bryz probably isn't going anywhere. That contract is hard to move and I highly doubt they are willing to eat that contract after one year. To me Bryz is a product of a good defensive system so they are going to have to address that area.

I can see the D getting improved through a trade that will involve JvR and probably the rights to Carle. I am not too sure and I hope it is not Suter. To me Suter is a product of Weber. If they are to go big on a move it should be to get Weber.

Nash will never happen, we can't afford him and Columbus is not going to throw us anymore bones. Perhaps that will also have to be addressed through a trade.

I agree with you regarding Suter. Not so sure he would be worth the big dollars. I would love to get Weber. But he's only a RFA. I don't think Nashville would trade him or let him walk for picks in a million years.

I just have this vision of Nash on Giroux's line. They would rule. But, they would have to shed major salary for that. Also, how does that salary structure affect the locker room?

  5. Bryz aside, which is obvious and not sure whether anything can be done about that. What are the holes that need to be filled?

In my opinion, a stud D'man and a true power forward to play with Giroux. Nash and Giroux would be devestating, but the asking price for Nash will be high and his cap hit is very high.

Let Jagr walk. Served his purpose. That money can be spent better elsewhere.

Trade the rights to Carle and Kubina.

Likely trade JVR/package for one of the above.

  6. I think that is what we are seeing right now.

They just don't have anything left in the tank after that series against Pittsburgh.

If we are to get past the Devils, the vets must lead the way. Hope G doesn't get suspended, but if he does, maybe that will light a fire under this team.

    Let's go Flyers!

Yep, agree 100%. The Pens series drained the rookies.

NEW YORK -- Tampa Bay sniper Steven Stamkos, New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist and Pittsburgh Penguins centre Evgeni Malkin have been named finalists for the Hart Trophy.

The award is given annually to the NHL's most valuable player.

The winner will be announced June 20 at the NHL awards banquet in Las Vegas. It is decided in voting conducted by the Professional Hockey Writers' Association.

Stamkos became the first player to score 60 goals in a season since 2007-'08 when Washington's Alex Ovechkin had 65. The 22-year-old finished with 60 goals and 37 assists, scored an NHL-record five overtime goals and had a league-high 48 even-strength goals, the most of any player since 1992-'93.

Lundqvist led New York to the top of the Eastern Conference standings with a 39-18-5 record in 62 appearances. The 39 regular-season wins were a career high and Lundqvist also finished tied for third overall in shutouts shutouts (eight), fourth in goals-against average (1.97) and save percentage (.930).

Lundqvist is also a finalist for the Vezina Trophy, given annually to the NHL's top goaltender.

Malkin captured his second career Art Ross Trophy as the league's scoring leader with 109 points (50 goals, 59 assists). He also finished second in the NHL with a career-high 50 goals and took a league-high 339 shots on goal.

Malkin is a Hart finalist for the third time, having finished second to Ovechkin in 2008 and 2009.

Of course. It's common knowledge that signing with the Flyers is automatic forfiture of individual awards. Everyone knows that. The Matt Read omission was even more shocking to me.

  8. I'm feeling a repeat of 2010. Jersey will steal a game but the Flyers take it in 5. I never predict sweeps.

I rarely do either. But, after witnessing how explosive we were in round 1, I can't picture a scenario where Jersey beats us.

  9. I think both New Yawk teams (the Devils only PLAY in NJ, but they are another NY team, to me) handle their business tonight.....

I like the Devils to upset Florida 4-2..... they really, really outplayed the Panthers in Game 6.

I dont like the Rangers --- but they've been too solid all year to choke away at home after capturing Game 6 w/ their backs against

the wall --- so I see them winning a tight, close one 3-2 tonight, as well.....

    which means --

    Rangers play Capitals

    Flyers play Devils

I know Brodeur is old -- but I fear he finds the fountain of youth out of past flashbacks of all the times he's stone-walled us!

Still we are 5x deeper than the Devils..... just need Bryz to show up partially for us to win.

I hope so. We'll destroy Jersey.
