I work with Epi's and they are very concerned with Omicron. It is far more virulent than the Delta variant. There are news reports about Omicron having milder symptoms, but a majority of the people infected with Omicron have been younger healthier people. We don't have a good cross section of the population (young, old, men, women, etc.) infected with the virus to say "Don't worry about it." And the more we let this thing mutate, the greater risk we run of it turning into something that transmits like Omicron but kills like Delta (or worse).

While overweight people are more at risk to COVID, I've seen the death lists for Minnesota. It's not just people with underlying conditions or elderly people in nursing homes dying now. There are plenty of 40-50-60 year-olds without underlying conditions dying from COVID.

Since November of 2019 epidemiologists are in a profound frustration how to deal with that virus. Initially they said one thing, then after awhile completely different things to follow, and later again a different things too. Long term research not done, because only 2 years passed. But respiratory virus really wants to survive among humans to withstand vaccines and of course, mutating. We had few strains of Covid in 2 years. And now we have a new strain Omicron which is practically resistant to Covid vaccines. Same was happening with influenza for 8 decades in a row. Every year was developed a new version of flu vaccine, because influenza was changing. Still mortality from influenza per year was between 290,000 - 650,000. And currently total so far from Covid were diseased in 2 years 275M; death 5.35M, which is about 1.94 % among diseased patients. Among all global population that rate is even much less. The good things out of that virus wants to live too and will not be living if all humans will not survive.

Regarding 40-60- years-old without underlying medical conditions(diabetes; obesity; hypertension, cancer; coronary disease and etc) dying from Covid. Research was not done when we had other conditions around those people - extreme stress; sleeping 2-3 hours a day; loss of job; hypo dynamic condition; smoking and etc.
