Right in time for the season to start....

THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL DISCUSSION, IT IS A HOCKEY ONE

Canada is prepared to drop its vaccine travel requirement at the end of September right in time for the season. When MacKenzie Blackwood was vaccinated in December it left Wings winger Tyler Bertuzzi as the lone player who is unvaccinated. He is the only current NHLer who is not fully vaccinated although rumors are that several young players coming out of the US Colleges who are expected to make their pro debut this season either in the NHL or the AHL are also still holding out.

What this means.... it seems to affect the Wings more than any other team, Bert had 30 goals in 69 games last season missing every single game played in Canada. This year the Wings have ten games north of the border.  Last season they also had 10 games in Canada, all without Bertuzzi in the lineup, they went 2-7-1 and were outscored 34-16 in that span.

Bertuzzi has been the subject of trade rumors as he is an UFA at seasons end, the odds are very high that if he does not sign a long term deal he will be dealt before the trade deadline. This definitely gives Yzerman more leverage, and makes Bert more valuable to a team looking for a power forward to get them over the top.
