Jeremy Swayman with a big save to keep Toronto off the board.

Hmm...but is it REALLY such a big save if the guy shooting the puck was Ryan Reaves though?? 🤔

No, it was a good save on a big dude.

The Leafs are playing well, but they have to be willing to compete more along the boards.. as well as in open ice, for the puck. They're losing their battles and their composure, at times. They are getting their fair share in shots, and have more than Boston.

Definitely a lot  more hustle by Boston all over the ice.

I know Toronto has the talent and firepower to stage a big comeback, but this is a hard way to make a playoff living for them!

That dinosaur Morgan Geekie just crunched someone in the corner.
Great bottom six to have in the playoffs and damned nice get from Seattle for the Bruins.

Geekie won't light up the scoreboard a bunch (although he has streaked on goals here and there before in his career), but he and his suit of armor body will light a guy up physically.

He is listed as 6'3 200....I'm sorry, I may buy the 6'3 part, but he looks WAY heavier than 200!

Toronto got the tough one, the first one, out of the way. Now they killed a penalty off.

Yes, but...the way the Bruins are wearing them out physically this late in the game, it might be their ONLY one today!

B's gonna take the opener.

Great all around game by Boston.
Toronto had their moments here and there, with LOTS of help from posts too...but overall, their stars seemed to disappear here, and they didn't play the smartest game they could.

I picked the Leafs to win the series though, but I picked them in 7, so that just means Toronto will need to lose 3.
They just burnt one. :bigteeth:

Kudos to the Bruins....they just came ready to play, and executed about as well as they could have....man, I almost vomited a bit saying that :shifty:

William Nylander sits out as Toronto Maple Leafs lose Game 1rst-round playoff series on Saturday due to an undisclosed injury.

Nylander, who hasn't skated with the team since Thursday, did not take the ice for warmups at TD Garden, ending speculation about his availability for at least one game. Toronto coach Sheldon Keefe has not revealed any details about Nylander's ailment, which reportedly flared up after the Maple Leafs' regular-season finale on Wednesday against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Keefe did not have an update on Nylander after Saturday's loss.

Nylander is coming off a career-best 98-point campaign and is a staple among Toronto's top six forwards. He also is on the Maple Leafs' No. 1 power-play unit.

While Keefe did not confirm Nylander's status earlier in the day, his teammates appeared resigned to playing without him.

"[It's] tough for him, but hopefully, he won't miss too much and he'll be back," Toronto defenseman Timothy Liljegren said. "[It's] hard to replace Willy. But we've had guys step up when guys go down all year, so it will be no different this time."

Nylander was the only Maple Leafs player to dress in all 82 regular-season games, and he hadn't missed a contest in three years.

He was missed on Saturday. Toronto amassed 36 shots on net but couldn't solve Boston goaltender Jeremy Swayman in the opener. David Kampf, with the Maple Leafs already down 4-0 in the third period, accounted for Toronto's only goal, with assists from Connor Dewar and Ryan Reaves.

Maple Leafs stars Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner combined for seven of those shots and nearly 41 minutes of ice time but couldn't keep Toronto from a 1-0 series deficit.

With Nylander unavailable, Nicholas Robertson stepped into the lineup, entering Toronto's third line. He finished with 14 shifts and 10:38 of ice time.

Game 2 is Monday in Boston.

Jeez Nylander... Stop being a soccer player and go.

See, I don't think the Leafs understand how this cap circumvention works....the player is out during the REGULAR season.....THEN returns for the playoffs.
Not the other way around...... Leafs management should consult with Chicago, Tampa Bay, and Vegas on how do that correctly.

What dumb @$$3s...

So far, the Bruins not missing a beat having Ullmark in net.

They take the lead....that wide body Morgan Geekie gets them a 1-0 lead.

What are those chips falling down from above......those blue n white chips??
