jammer2
Kris Russel had 3 blocks in his last game. That left him with 262 on the season, that total is just 12 short of the all time record set by Anton Volchenkov in the 06-07 season. That is quite the accomplishment. It's been a great season for Kris, who just broke the 30 point barrier for the first time in his career. He's obviously getting it done at both ends of the ice this year. After the Flames lost Marc Giordano for the year to an injury, Kris has really upped his game. He's a big reason why the Flames are in a playoff position. ScottM
Guys like this are often the unsung heroes. They're willing to do the dirty work for the good of the team. If he breaks Volchenkov's record (which appears likely) that really would be quite an accomplishment. I remember when Volchenkov did that. IIRC, he and Phillips, who were defensive partners were 1-2 in the league in blocks. The Sens defense that year had a lot to do with why we made the Finals. This is the kind of thing that Calgary will have to thank if they make the playoffs this year too. They may not have the most talent, but Russel is a prime example of why there's not a harder working team in the league.
