ScottM
http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=768608 With Kari Ramo now a free agent, the Flames will have some decisions to make, with Ortio believing he's ready to go. His numbers were pretty good this past season, but it is a very small sample size. Do you think he's ready to go? Would you press to resign Ramo, or do you put faith in a Hiller-Ortio tandem? Ramo will be allowed to walk i think....Flames also have Jon Gilles in the mix....and he may want to have a shot at the backup spot there...he was signed to an ELC and he may be given a shot at it....worst case he could need some time in the AHL. http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=86892 Who knows we saw Johnny Hockey jump straight to the NHL....and Gilles was the best netminder in these past playoffs and carried his team to a win over BU. Yeah, I'd let Ramo go. I think it will be interesting to see what Ortio does in training camp. If sheer determination counts for anything, he's got plenty going for him. If I'm Calgary's GM, I feel good aboug my net, but I'd like some depth at forward. I'd use the cap space I freed up from Ramo to go after some wingers. Jakub Nakladal is a good signing for their back end some good size and skates well for a stay at home Dman, nothing flashy but can move the puck up to the forwards. http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=22769 Calgary is slowly coming around. One more solid draft to stock the cupboards should help a lot.

What I read on him is that the Bruins probably won't offer him as big a contract as what he may get elsewhere, but that money might be a plenty elsewhere. What do you think about his production drop late? Fluke, or is he a number three center tops?
OccamsRazor
Fluke, or is he a number three center tops? I think sort of but i think if need be he could play up on the 2nd. But 3rd might be right in his wheelhouse.
yave1964
Ramo, just a body. Back in Europe for good within two years. That said, I think that Ortio is a B minus or C prospect, never going to be much, maybe ten percent better than Ramo. I know a lot of folks are high on him for some reason but I frankly do not see it.
