Game 9 Ana vs Dal

Andersen is in goal and Getzlaf has appendicitis, Piskula and Maroon are also out.

Niemi in net for the Stars.

1st period - Wow less than 2 mins in, Christ Stewart gets in a fight with Jamie Oleksiak. 2 mins in the Stars go on the PP, Jackman gets hooking called against him. After all of that, Dallas only has 1 shot on goal. The Ducks don't look as in control as they were last night vs Chicago but they are working and skating hard. It takes 6 mins for Anaheim to get their first shot on net. They are doing well in the neutral zone and their own zone, not a lot of risks being taken. Andersen is aggressive with a poke check and Perry runs the puck through the crease at the other end. Andersen makes a big stop on Patrick Sharp. The puck bounced to him off of a Duck skate and he was a few feet to Andersen's left but couldn't score. With 8 mins to go in the first, only 2 shots for each team hit the net. The Ducks look good enough to win this game. A delayed penalty for Dallas let's the Ducks weave and pass to try and get a good shot and do. A nice team effort to get that one good shot before the PP starts. Wow Santorelli let's one go from the top of the circle, it hits Benn and goes in. Nice passing and organization on that PP. Andersen promptly mishandles the puck and nearly lets a freebie in.  The Ducks have a hard time clearing the zone from their puck, a theme at time for the first 8 games for them. Some scrambling in front of the Dallas net, the Ducks are pressing hard and are doing well at controlling the puck in the Stars zone. Horcoff scores on a nice passing play that left Dallas scrambling. Hagelin scores! A nice body check by Kesler gets the puck lose in the Stars end, a nice, quick pass in front of the net and it's 3 zip Ducks. The Ducks forecheck looks strong, they earned that 3rd goal from the forecheck.

Shots 9 - 6 Ducks

Ducks 1/1 on the PP Stars 0/1

Face offs 12 - 6 Ducks

Hits, takeaways and blocked shots are all even.

2nd period - Vatanin doesn't look as good on the puck as he did in games past. Another looong delayed penalty being stretched out by the Ducks, trying to get another decent shot before the PP starts. Can't get a good one off though. The PP starts 2 mins into the period. Dallas dictates the first minute of the Ducks PP. Rakell had a decent shot from the top of the circle. A couple of more poor shots on the Stars net but Dallas fended off the Ducks well. There is lots of back and forth in the last 5 minutes, the Ducks speed and aggressiveness is being matched by Dallas. Horcoff is having a good night. Silfverburg goes to the box for tripping with 7 minutes gone in the period. PP goal for Sharp. A one timer from right in front of Andersen. Vatanin gets hits and limps to the bench with a sore right foot. Half way through the 2nd, shots are 12 - 9 for the Ducks. Wow Holzer gets drilled from behind after the whistle blows by Jamie Benn. The Ducks take their time setting up in the Dallas end Neimi's skate blade makes a save from Cogliano. The Ducks go back on the PP with a tripping call against Patrick Sharp. Wow the Stars score a short handed goal. The PP ends and the Ducks don't even get a shot on goal. Wowsers! Dallas has a lot more out numbered attacks on the Ducks than they did in the 1st period. The Stars D-men look to be getting into the plays more in the Ducks zone. Wow another goal for Dallas. There was some quick passes by the Stars and the Ducks were all over the place, finally the Star that shot did so in front of Andersen with no defender on him. The closest Duck had his back turned to the shooter. WOW! Now a quick whistle by the ref might had saved another goal from getting passed Andersen, the puck was loose and not under Andersen and sprang loose before the whistle went. The shots are 18 - 17 for the Ducks now. The Stars are just walking around with their guns out.

Poor 2nd for the Ducks, it was a Dallas Stars show.

Shots 18 - 19 Ducks

Blocked shots 15 - 9 Stars

Dallas scored on the PP and shorthanded

Takeaways 6 - 3 Dallas

3rd period - Cogliano gets hit 15 seconds into the period. Andersen makes a big save from right in the slot. The Stars are flying high and Andersen has to make another good save to keep the game tied. Eventually the Ducks have to ice the puck to relieve the pressure. The Stars march back up the ice and keep the foot on the neck of the Ducks and now lead on shots for the first time of the game 19 - 18. The Stars are still still bringing the heat and Perry goes to the box for tripping. Wow 3 chances for Dallas in close ans each time they fanned on it. Andersen makes a couple of quick stops on Seguin. 8 minutes into this period, the Ducks are hard, back on their heels. Andersen makes another tough save, he's doing a lot of work in this period. Wagner dumped Oleksiak over the boards into his own bench. Wow Andersen has been standing on his head on nearly every Dallas shot in this period. he just made a couple of duzies in close. Shots are 15 -  1 for Dallas in this frame. The Duck bench looks down, not a lot of movement and no excitement. That's always a very bad attitude to have. Attempted shots in the 3rd period are 22 - 3 for Dallas. Dallas goes from behind their own net, march it all the way up, get a 2 on 1, Andersen makes the initial stop and a Star just jams away at it, smashing it in. The D have really faltered in this game for a few of the goals. The Ducks looked sharp in the lat 1:30 with Andersen pulled but that just shows that they are capable of playing hard.

Shots 34 - 20 - The Ducks had 2 in the 3rd period

Hits 25 - 19 Ducks

Face offs 32 - 30 Ducks

Giveaways 18 - 16 Ducks

Takeaways 7 - 3 Dallas

Blocked shots 17 - 10 Dallas

Ducks fly away after the first period.

@2nd String Champ

I think you mentioned a couple of key statements in this loss that probably reflect the Ducks off season and their readiness to start the season at a pace that is on par with the rest of the league.  This is starting to look more and more like past Capitals teams when Boudreau was coach.

What the actual **** ????

I went to sleep, thinking "Columbus won, Ducks are up 3-0, and Montreal's streak probably comes to an end since the west is much tougher"

Well, WHAT THE DUCK?

After the 1st period, I thought they were going to cruise to victory. What a turn around! The just fell back into the Ducks from the first 8 games for no reason. There was even an interview {I forget who} about the Ducks not taking their foot off the gas for the 2nd period etc., a shocker for sure. Tthen getting 2 shots on net in the 3rd period and allowing 17 shots against.

I'm not sure what those statements are but I imagine it has to do with expensive players.

The Ducks played a great game in Chicago and should have won that game.  I watched it all.  They outplayed the Hawks.  Went to OT and were beaten as Crawford robbed them at one end and they got caught and beaten on the new 3 on 3.  They will be pressing and be desperate tonight vs a good Blues team.  I like the Ducks to win tonight though in a desperate situation.  Always go with the more desperate team.  But their goalie must be at least good. I am taking Perry and Stewart on my Draft Kings team tonight to break out

Well, we can only hope for a solid 60 minutes of Ducks hockey at this point. They can come out flying or pour the pressure on for minutes at a time... only to crawl into a hiding spot for 40 minutes straight.

Ana vs St. Louis

Andersen is in net and Ryan Getzlaf, Simon Despres, Josh Manson, Nate Thompson, Piskula and Jackman are out.

I missed the first half of the game because of a lunatic running around my neighborhood.

Hampus Lindholm got a PP goal for us 2 1/2 mins into the 2nd period. Tarasenco tied it up 4 mins later on a 2 on 0, from a loooong pass from his D-man, it was a tic-tac-toe where Andersen didn't have a chance.

Shots 12 - 10 Ducks

1 penalty for each team

Second period - 10 minutes left to go.  The last min of the Duck PK looked a little sloppy, at the end of the PK, we get a 2 on 1 and Silfverburgh misses the net. Kesler gets a hooking penalty immediately as the PK ends. He's had more than his fair share as penalties so far this season. Andersen made a great stop early in the PK. This PK went well, the Blues couldn't set up, we carried the puck into their zone a couple of times and got a weak shot on net even. Just as the penalty ends, Cogliano goes for a change, leaving us outnumbered when the Blues were right in front of Andersen, who makes another in-close save. Kesler misses the net from the high slot. With 6 mins to go in the period, we are ahead on shots 19 - 15. I've only seen 5 minutes of the game but it looks like St. Louis is being held back fairly well by the Ducks. Wow, a bad puck bounce off the glass makes Clayton Stoner make a toe save to save a goal. Phew! Horcoff makes a huge hit but it looks like he led with his elbow....Terasenko was the hitee, no call on the play, although Tarasenko went to the locker room. Perry and Ott tussle but no punches land. There was a cross check and slash leading up to that tussle on a Duck, most likely because no penalty was called on Horcoff. Not the PP is cut short as the Blues go to the box for goalie interference. Perry gets a crappy boarding call, a make up call maybe for Tarasenko getting hurt. Another good PK by the Ducks.

Shots 19 - 19

Face offs 30 - 17 St Louis

Hits 18 - 17 Ducks

Blocked shots 9 - 5 Ducks

Penalties 6 - 5 Ducks

Kesler and Perry both have 2 penalties against them tonight already

3rd period - The Ducks look good to start the 3rd. A blocker save by Andersen from a long way away... is the only kind of shot that the Ducks are allowing. The Blues are getting a few shots towards the net, nothing special so far. Wow, almost a "too many men} penalty vs. the Ducks. They look like they are retreating a bit..... just like games past. Tarasenko has a couple of shots again in this period. The Blues are pressing harder than the Ducks can handle at the moment. Andersen makes another tight save from in close and the Blues look like they are on the PP even when it's 5 on 5. Ohh, the Ducks take yet another penalty. 8 minutes in, the Ducks are highly pressured again! The Blues control this whole PP for them and one timers and clean passing by the Blues makes the Ducks look a bit weak really. They are trying to carry the puck out of the zone and the Blues are stopping them, twice in a row, they aren't dumping the puck away, it's odd. Andersen is keeping his head, he looks sharp. WOW! What a lucky bounce for the blues, a missed shot on net, comes off the boards, hits Andersen's skate, goes across his crease and a Blue bangs it in. So unlucky there. 9:30 to go in the 3rd. The Ducks get to the Blues zone and for a moments look like they are on top of their game. Jake Allen looks equal to the task though. Shots are 9 - 2 for the Blues in this period. Another poor break out for the Ducks from their zone results in a turnover. Andersen still looks good and clean in net. With 6 mins to go, the Ducks don't seem to be able to get in close to the Blues' net. Andersen makes another great save, his 14th of the period. The Ducks go on the PP from what looked like a weak call from the ref. They are 1/3 on the PP tonight with 5 shots before this PP. The Ducks are strong on this PP but just can't get the blasts from the point or the tips on net. They never once moved towards the Blues' net though. They only stayed at the blue line with the puck, or along the side boards down low but no shots from less than 40 feet away. They didn't get a shot on goal... yikes! A minute to go now. That was a massive failure for the Ducks. Icing with 45 seconds to go against the Blues.

Shots 34 - 23 Blues  {15 - 3 for the Blues in the 3rd}

Face offs 38 - 26 Blues

Blocked shots 13 - 9 for the Ducks

Giveaway / takeaways were even

Ducks 1/4 on the PP  Blues 0/5

The hockey gods take a crap on the Ducks as they fail to make something happen in the 3rd period yet again.

Ana 1 - 2 St. Louis

here's a video clip of the goal by Parayko

unlucky bounce - wow a tough one to lose the game by.

Yeah, that's where I added the part about he hockey gods taking a #2 on us. What a strange occurrence. The Ducks did fall apart in the 3rd, so they didn't really deserve to get the win but they also didn't deserve to lose like that!

Game 10 Nsh vs Ana

Ryan Getzlaf,  Josh Manson, and Nate Thompson are out of the lineup. Andersen is starting for the Ducks, the back up Hutton is in goal for the Preds.

1st period -   An odd man rush against the Ducks to start the game. Good grief. 45 seconds in and the Preds already have 3 shots on net. WOW! We scored? HOW? HOW? Rakell with some nice hands at the side of the net, just walks in front and backhands it in. Ahh, Coglianlo was in tight with the puck but lost the handle. It was a great chance. 7 - 2 shots for Preds 3 1/2 mins in. Andersen makes a great stop on a break away! Pred PP, Bieksa for slashing. Andersen fumbles the puck badly while trying to play it! Yikes! We killed the PP well. The Ducks seem to be able to defend better and get the puck back quicker in their zone. 10 mins in, Flowler catches a puck on the arm and goes to the locker room. Sami Vatanen scores on a slapshot! Cogliano get another! He gets a wrist shot to go for 3 - 0  Ducks. That's 2 goals in 12 seconds. Shots are now 10 and 10 with 8 1/2 mins to go in the first. Andersen keeps the goose egg up with another nice save. 6 mins to go, Ducks go on the PP. Nothing doing at all in the first minute of this PP. Our first shot misses the net and we have no shots at all.  Rakell gets boarded a bit and Stewart drops his stick in defense of him but he can't Paul Gaustad to dance. The Preds are doing much better on this PP than we did on ours. They are setting up nicely. A broken stick on the shot, gets us out of trouble, it looked scary for awhile. Fowler is back on the bench from that blocked shot.

Shots 17 - 13 Preds

Hits 10 - 5 Preds

Blocked shots 7 - 5 Preds

Faceoffs 12 - 9 Ducks

Takaways 2 - 1 Ducks

Giveaways 6 - 4 Preds

Ducks were 0/2 on the PP

Preds were 0/1 but looked sharper than we did.

2nd period -  The Ducks are hard back on their heels again. They have to dump the puck after a tough 80 seconds of pressure. 3 1/2 mins in the Preds have 5 shots on net, Ducks have none. Silfverburg goofs up, grabs a stick in the offenseive zone and the Preds have a PP. Lindholm gets tripped up and we are 4 on 4. Perry gets a tripping penalty. nashville looks good so far on the PP. The Preds score, Webber blasts one from the top of the circle, a PP goal. 7 1/2 mins into the second and the Ducks have their first shot on net of the period. *shakes head* The Ducks are skating hard and fast, it just isn't doing them much good. The Ducks have flashes of great playing but only for a few seconds at a time. Chris Stewart gets a juicy rebound from a great pass from Rakell on the blue line to Holzer at the side of the net, he shoots and Stewart is on the other post.  Andersen still looks good, he's making good saves in close, he always does lately. Ohh, 12 feet in front of Andersen, a puck goes in off of the crossbar. A really hard wrist shot was held as Holzer slid passed the Pred with the puck.  Oh drap. Too many men on the ice.... this one is due to Ducks players taking their sweet time getting off of the ice. Preds go back on the PP. A couple of those in the first 10 games of the year is just a symbol of the Ducks season so far.... With 4 mins to go Seth Jones dekes 4 Ducks all alone, beats Andersen 5 hole while being taken down and Andersen spins sideways kicking the puck "just" clear of the post. Phew! With a minute to go, a line brawl breaks out as the Ducks let things get under their skin. Silly on their part! Off setting minors for roughing.

Shots 34 - 25 Preds

Hits 28 - 14 Preds

Face offs even at 22 each

giveaways and takeaways are still in the Ducks favor

PP 1/5 Preds and 0/1 Ducks

Blocked shots 11 - 9 Ducks

3rd period -  Well, 5 mins into the 3rd, the Preds have 2 shots, Ducks have 1. Not much action at all. The Ducks are playing controlled, with lots of circling back. It looks like they are wasting times right off the bat. The Ducks look tired and are being pressured for at least the last 2 minutes. 8 minutes in and there's a 2 on 1 and Andersen doesn't have to make a stop. Silfverburg has his stick lifted into a Pred face and gets a 2 minute minor. The Ducks are killing the PP well in the first minute. Oh yeah a great PK for the Ducks. Always in control and dumping it down often. No shots on goal during that PP for the Preds. A pretty boring period but it's safe so far for the Ducks. Kesler is 7 for 9 in defensive zone face offs. In the last few mins, the Ducks look good in their own end. They are keeping the Preds along the boards and blue line, no great shots are getting to the net and then the Ducks go down and put the Preds on the defensive with better passing than the Preds. Also, the Preds only have 5 shots on goal in the first 15 minutes, so the Ducks can shut a team down. The Ducks in turn only have 3 shots.... nothing new there. *rolls eyes*.  With 2:42 to go, the Preds pull their goalie! The Preds have had almost total control of the puck with the extra attacker. The Preds keep shooting. Vatanen is boarded with a cross check with 10 seconds to play by Forsburg.

Chris Stewart has had a great game, same with Sami Vatanen and Fredrick Andersen as well as he had to make a ton of saves again.

Shots 42 - 28 Preds

Hits 36 - 19 Preds

PP 1/6 Preds 0/1 Ducks

Face offs 31 - 29 Ducks, thanks to Kesler winning a TON of his again

Blocked shots 17 - 14 Ducks

Giveaways/ takaways  are even

A much better complete game by Anaheim and this time they did deserve the win.... sort of. They still allow WAAAY too many shots and don't have nearly enough shots themselves. Fredrick Andersen a massive reason why they have the win tonight and haven't been blown out 6 - 0 a few times.

@2nd String Champ I think it's possible that some of the guys missing time could be a blessing in disguise for Anaheim. If they can put together another couple of games like the one against Nashville, Boudreau might be able to find some combinations that work. If it takes being forced into it because of injuries, I'd say so be it. Any blessing is a blessing even if it is wearing a Halloween costume.

It could work well but having everyone on the roster to use in the "match game" would be even better. What's happening now is most of the matches can be tried but not all.

Thank you for your input, it is very helpful! :P

I agree, they are not NHL caliber uniforms.

LOL sorry, despite how it sounds, I'm honestly not trying to go out of my way to insult the Ducks.

I liked their previous uniforms but just don't care for these..

Game 11 Fla vs Ana

Ryan Getzlaf, Nate Thompson, Simon Despres, Josh Manson and Jiri Sekac are out of the lineup.

Frederik Andersen starts in goal for the Ducks and Luongo for the Panthers.

Period 1 -  Cogliano starts the game off with a shot on net. A half decent chance for Lindholm with good pressure by the Ducks. 2:45 in and the Ducks look good. A scramble in front of Luongo with a couple of Ducks whacking at the pads/ puck. 6 minutes in and there are 5 shots for each team. Florida looks good in the last couple of minutes. The Ducks forecheck is looking good. Luongo tripped Rakell {not on purpose}, so Ducks' PP. We are 9% on the PP and dead last in the league. Nothing doing for the Ducks on this PP. They have yet to get setup in the Panthers' zone. What a waste of a man advantage. Kesler has the best chance for the Ducks on a wrist shot and can't fool Luongo. 12 minutes gone and there aren't any good scoring chances for either team yet. The Ducks look good again, fast skates and crisp passes. Lots of flying around the Panthers zone. No good chances but it's a lot better than playing on their heels in their own end. Clayton Stoner get 2 for cross checking. The first 35 seconds of the PP make the Panthers look good! For the rest of the PK the Ducks do a great job! Oooh Stoner, just out of the box makes it a 2 on 1, nearly a goal, as the puck trickles through the crease. A fairly quick and clean first period, neither team really had a scoring chance but the Ducks did put a solid period together.

Shots 14 - 6 Ducks

Faceoffs 11 - 10 Ducks

Hits 13 - 7 Ducks

Giveaways / takeaways are even

Blocked shots 5 for each team

Period 2 -  The 2nd starts with the Ducks putting pressure in deep on the Panthers. Bieksa gets an interference penalty on Pirri. Andersen make a huge save with 45 seconds left in the PK.  Grrr. 3 on 1 after Lindholm coughs it up at his blue line, a couple of drop passes and a shot that deflects in off of Fowlers skate and Andersen is unlucky, 1 - 0 Florida. Not too many stops in play so far. Cogliano gets hugged a little and the Ducks go on the PP.  In the closing seconds of the PP, the Ducks gets a couple of decent, hard shots to Luongo but from long distance, no rebounds. Just as the PP ends, Horcoff was crowding Luongo and Stewart shoots from the boards at a very tight angle and it goes in! I think the PP had "just" ended. The Ducks are out shooting the Panthers 22 - 9. Wow, Andersen makes a great save on a tip about 6 feet in front of him. Half way through the game, the pace has really slowed. Neither team is being aggressive. Bieksa saves a goal but quickly getting to a defender's stick. The Panthers are pressing hard. Rakell has an upper body injury that he suffered in the first period, he won't return. Perry goes to the box for tripping with a knee on knee play. The first 1:30 of the PK was stellar for the Ducks. Only with 30 seconds to go, did Florida setup and shoot a shot from the blue line that never made it through. No shots on goal during that PP for the Panthers. Silfverburg and Cogliano haven't been named much but seem to be doing a good job with covering their opponents. Horcoff is another Duck having a good game so far. A few really heads up plays by him. What a bad break, a deflected puck off of a Ducks stick gets passed Andersen. 2 - 1 Panthers. A 3 on 2 to on Luongo and he makes a great glove save.

Shots 27 - 15 Ducks

Shot attempts 46 - 30 Panthers

faceoffs 25 - 19 Ducks

Hits, giveaways, blocked shots are all even

Period 3 -  A poor start to the period by the Ducks, slow and sluggish. Andersen makes a great stop 1:30 into the 3rd on Pirri. Wow, a terrific stop again on Pirri, Andersen slides right to left and robs on the one timer. Kesler gets slashed in front of Luongo and the Ducks are on their 3rd PP of the night. A halfway decdect PP so far, a couple of hard shots on Luongo but no real scoring chance. The Ducks look a little bit back on their heels. They are chasing the puck, getting out skated to pucks in their own end etc. They will have to really turn things around to keep from going down another goal. With 8 minutes gone, the Ducks were swarming around Luongo, hacking and slashing in Luongo's crease. In the last few minutes, it's back and forth, up and down the ice. It's a little sloppy for both teams. The Ducks look a lot more organized, they are passing better and are able to setup in the Florida zone. There's only 6 minutes to go but the Ducks look stronger than the Panthers. Vatanen sells a holding penalty to the ref and the Ducks go on the PP. They really have been out playing the Panthers in the last several minutes but only have 7 shots on net this period. Ohhh, Luongo was down and out but Stewart couldn't life the puck more than a foot off of the ice. Good pressure in the first minute of this PP. The last minute of the PP was weak, Florida cleared the puck a few times easily. With 1:30 Andersen is pulled and the Ducks are playing hard and fast. They always do when the goalie is pulled. What BS is that?! Perry catches a wicked high stick and the Ducks will end the game with a PP 6 on 4. WOW! 5 seconds to go in the game and the Ducks score! If they put this amount of effort into other times during the games, all problems with the Ducks would vanish. Andersen made some super tough saves to keep the Ducks in it.

Shots 37 - 20 Ducks

Hits 28 - 27 Ducks

Blocked shots 17 - 14 Panthers

PP Ducks 1/5 and 0/3 Panthers

Overtime 3 on 3 -  There's too much action, it's too fast paced to report the 3 on 3. Nearly every rush is a scoring chance or 2. Wild saves, dives and shots.

Wow, Andersen stops a 2 on NONE then was on his keister and makes another stop. He's earned Anaheim a point already and keeps them alive for maybe a second point. Wow, 3 on 3 is exciting! more 3 on 2's, 2 on 1's etc. Big saves from Andersen!  Shots are 5- 0 in 3 on 3 for the Panthers. Perry had a chance in close but shoots it into Luongo's pad.

Shots 39 - 25 Ducks

Shoot out -   Perry - X                     Pirri - $

             Silfverburg = $            Trocheck - X

                    Kesler = X             Bjugstad - X

                  Stewart = $              berdeau - X

Andersen is the top 3 stars of the game. Anyone who contests this can go back to their mother ship and take their pills.

Game 12     Cbj vs Ana

Andersen and McElhinney get the start in the nets.

Ducks injures: Nate Thompson (shoulder), Simon Despres (upper body), Jiri Sekac (ankle), Rickard Rakell (upper body)

Period 1 -  The Ducks look "ok" in the first couple of minutes. 3 mins in, the Jackets get the first shot on goal.Getzslaf fires a laser pass through 2 Jackets' sticks to Perry, he's on the breakaway but can't score, Cam Fowler cleans up the garbage, 1 - 0 Ducks! The Ducks look much more alive now. Making a few dipsy doodle sort of plays in the Jackets zone now. 7 mins in, Ducks have 4 shots, Jackets only the 1. Wow, Andersen almost let a smash and bang play in front of the net cause a goal. Oh Wow, it was Lindholm who took the puck off of the goal line! The Ducks have to ice the puck to relieve the Jacket pressure. Half way through the period, the Jackets are fending off the Ducks fairly well now. Not a lot of setting up in the opposing zone for either team. Just a lot of dump & chase that isn't amounting to anything. With 3 mins to go, the Ducks are getting some shots and are looking a little more in control than the last several minutes. Wow Andersen makes a stop with the side of his right pad, then the puck has to bounce off of his skate as well. That was close! In the final 2 mins the Ducks are pressing hard. A Jacket defender has to clear the puck from McElhinney's crease down the ice. A couple of scrums happen at the end of the period.

Stewart and a Jacket get 2 minute penalties as the period ends. Cross checking is given to Stewart.

The on screen graphics say 5 scoring chances for each team but it's more like 4 - 3 Ducks. That number is never accurate.

Shots 11 - 10 Ducks

Hits 18 - 7 Ducks

Faceoffs 10 - 4

giveaways 0

takeaways 0

blocked shots 3 - 1 Jackets

Period 2 -  The 4 on 4 looked weak from both teams, nothing really happened. It's been a slow start to the period for both teams. The Ducks go on the PP. They had a good PP, lots of puck movement, setting up in the CBJ zone. Another PP for the Ducks right after that last PP expires. More good pressure by the Ducks, Maroon scores! He was screening in front of McElhinney, the puck hit him in the rear, dropped right between his legs and he slaps it in. 2 - 0 Ducks. 7 minutes in the Ducks have 4 shots to the Jackets zero. Ahhh, the Ducks looked unorganized and the Jackets have a great passing place right through the whole zone. A one timer like 1 foot in front of Andersen goes in. 2 - 1 Ducks. Wow! A 3 on 1 for the Ducks Perry with the shot, Getzlaf gets the rebound but can't score. Maroon gets cross checked into the net, that Jacket gets 2 penalties, roughing and charging. Perry gets a roughing penalty coming to the defense of Maroon. Duck PP. It's a decent attempt at the PP, the Ducks can't really get set up but they spent a long time in thE Jackets' zone. Wow, a sudden breakout by the Jackets and it's almost a 2 on 1 in under a second. Anderson makes a good save. Ahh Stewart gets a holding call on him, sort of a weak call. Jackets' PP. The Ducks will put their league leading PK to the test 90% so far this year. Wow a deflected puck hits the post behind Andersen, yikes! The Jackets are really pressing hard, one broke his stick trying to jam the puck under Andersen! Grr, a short 5 on 3 against the Ducks as Bieksa gets called for tripping.

Period 3 -  A massive 2 minute penalty kill to start the 3rd, 2 shots allowed by the Ducks but no damage. We're back to a dump & chase game, not much is coming from it for either team. The Ducks seem to have a lot more speed than the Jackets but it isn't getting them anything. Anaheim is getting a few decent chances but they aren't executing. Perry was circling with the puck and makes a great pass to Josh Manson, {his first NHL goal} in the slot and he scores. 3 - 1 Ducks. There's just a cautious back and forth between the teams, no one is really sticking their neck out. With 7 mins to go, Andersen is swimming in his crease, scrambling for the puck. For a few minutes, the jackets are playing better than the Ducks. Andersen makes a sprawling save to keep it a two goal game. The Jackets are forechecking with 4 players at times now. A 2 on 1 for the Ducks but Kesler ships the puck over the net, it was a difficult shot though. Andersen is still playing very well and makes another good save. Ohh a missed tripping call on the Jackets, right in open ice leads to a chance for them and they score. 3 - 2 Ducks. Stoner a minute later puts the puck into the empty net 4 - 2 Ducks.

Game 13   Ana vs Sjs

Khudobin starts for us, Martin Jones starts for the sharks.

Duck injuries: Rickard Rakell (upper body), Nate Thompson (shoulder) Simon Despres (upper body), Jim Sekac (ankle)

This will be tough.... a back to back with the sharks being the arse end of it.

Period 1 -  Hagelin gets the first shot on net 50 seconds in. A nice, fast start by the Ducks. They have a 5 - 0 shot lead 3:30 into the game. The Sharks put a tiny bit of pressure on us but the defense stands up well. Perry scores on a breakaway 5 minutes in the game! Getzlaf and Maroon get the assists. The Ducks don't let up the pressure, they are spending a lot of time in the Sharks end with a couple offensive zone faceoffs. A good forecheck by the Ducks tonight so far. I'm surprised, the Ducks are really chocking off the Shark attacks. Jones made a great stop on Kesler, that was close! Silfverburg made a shot from the circle and the puck bounced about 4 feet in front of Jones and Kesler shot it right into the outstretched glove. The Sharks are more aggressive now for sure. Wow Martin Jones is just saving the Sharks bacon! Stewart just couldn't lift the back hand over the outstretched pad of Jones. The Ducks are close to breaking the game wide open. Silfverburg takes a dumb interference penalty with 5 mins to go. The Sharks setup in the Ducks zone but for a minute only had one shot from the blue line. The Ducks are closing in on their men, forcing fast passes back to the blue line etc. With 30 seconds to go, the Sharks are moving though our defense and got a couple of decent chances. We only cleared the puck for the 2nd time in that PK right at the end of the PK. Lots of Shark pressure for sure. The Ducks have backed the Sharks off in the last couple of minutes. The period ends with both teams defending well.

Period 2 -  The Sharks are putting the boots to the Ducks for the first minute and 15 seconds of the period in a perfect forecheck which resulted in a shot. Even under pressure in their own zone, the Ducks look like a unit. They are moving like a wave, always getting into the proper position, it looks effortless. The Sharks are still putting quite a lot of pressure on us. Khudobin makes a good save to hold his shutout. He's played good tonight but there hasn't been a whole lot of hard shots to save. 6 minutes in and the Ducks seem close to getting back on their heels, like in so many games this season. Lindholm falls and a Shark blasts a shot and hits the crossbar, the refs thought it went in, it did not. Khudobin makes a great stop on a pass across the crease right on the tape of Donskoi. Maroon seems to be finishing all of his checks, that might be a half a dozen hit he's had tonight so far. { I missed 5 minutes here by taking a phone call }  With 4 mins to go, the Ducks are keeping the Sharks from breaking out cleanly. Big hit by Wagner on Neito, Stoner and Haley tussle and Stoner and Dillion wrestle a little.  Haley, Dillon, Stoner and Wagner get 5 mins each for fighting. Wagner and Dillion get 10 min game misconducts and are gone from the game. Jones makes another nice save. He's been quick in the crease all night. With 2 1/2 mins to go the Ducks go on a PP. A stick slash is the call. The Ducks setup fast in the Sharks zone and get a decent shot in the first 15 seconds {Getzlaf}. For the next minute and a half the Sharks keep us out of their zone mostly. Wow, when Braun left the box, he was 6 inches away from getting a breakaway pass. Only  4 shots for the Ducks in the 2nd period.

PP 0/2 for each team, the Sharks had a 13 second PP, so that shouldn't count

Period 3 -  Lots of grinding and puck chasing to start the period. The next 2 mins are the same as the first. players sticking close to their assigned players, dump and chance and no risk taking on defense, all hands on deck for both teams. There seems to be a lot of open ice in the Ducks zone for the Sharks over the last few minutes, only 2 shots for them though. Marlow was sent in a step ahead of Lindholm and Khudobin comes up with another great save. He's done very well this game. In each period there have been a few saves that he's made to earn his pay cheque. There aren't many shots this period but the forwards are trying long passes, carrying the puck, dumping it in and are skating hard. The defense for both side is really hampering the offensive. 12 minutes in to the period and the Ducks look a little slow, it is a back to back game after all. A big scramble in front of Khudobin and he makes a couple of great sprawling saves. Perry was allowed to walk out from behind the net and he rang it off of the post. The Ducks are pressuring the Sharks for about 90 seconds straight. With 5 mins to go, Cogliano chases Thorton behind the net and puts his stick under the blade of Thorton as he crashhes into the boards. Cogliano goes in for tripping. The Ducks are killing this PP so well, just closing down, getting the puck and dumping it down the ice. The Ducks really kill that PP perfectly. Flowler clears the puck over the glass and gets a delay of game penalty. Only 2:24 left in the game. 1:45 Empty sharks net 6 on 4. The Sharks are pressing hard but not much is happening for shots. They have spent a minute straight in the Ducks zone. A Shark blast from the blue line is tipped by Marlow but Khudobin makes the save. Again Khudboin makes a great save, no rebound.
