I have to include the th?id=OIP.M35384ca2f5aa5587b5d31adb23d13 Thrashers in here simply because. So here we go.

BEST TRADES IN JETS HISTORY:

Take advantage of fire sale in Chicago, land Andrew th?id=OIP.M7f40b4da58685337bf0c7455d47da Ladd for Ivan Vishnevshkiy from Chicago.

Ladd is 4th all time in goals and 5th in scoring for the Jets organization and has been a heart and soul winger. An UFA after a trade to Chicago, Ladd who served as captain of the team since they relocated to Winipeg is rumored to be interested in returning to the Manitoba wasteland.

BLAKE WHEELER th?id=OIP.Mc3ab85b71afc0175c0efb73b006c9 AND MARK STUART FROM THE BRUINS FOR RICH PEVERLEY AND BORIS VALABIK

Wheeler is 5th in goals and 4th in points and is a net front presence with a massive frame, a fan favorite who is aging like fine wine. Stuart is still with the club as a solid stay at home defender who likes to hit. Peverley played a few seasons in Boston as a bottom six guy before leaving as an UFA. Simply put they killed the Bruins in this one. Still trying to figure out what Boston was thinking.

DUSTIN th?id=OIP.M1e360b122fe5900e119daca63e340 BYFUGLIEN, BEN EAGER AND BRENT SOPEL FROM CHICAGO FOR A PACKAGE OF RETREADS AND A SECOND ROUNDER (JIMMY HAYES)

Living in Cap Hell the Hawks made a deal with the Thrashers sending Eager and Sopel who went on to help give some cred to the team as cup winners, and Dustin Byfuglien who for the past 7 seasons has rotated between defense and winger as needed without hesitation or complaint. Buff has been an inspiration to his teammates and is loved by the fans.

BAD TRADES:

ILYA KOVALCHUK th?id=OIP.Mff4671419b00f9aa354d6f0150180 ALONG WITH SECOND ROUNDER (JON MERRILL) TO THE DEVILS FOR JOHNNY ODUYA, NICLAS BERGFORS AND PATRICE CORMIER

God that one was ugly. Lets face it Kovie has a well deserved rep as a pain in the ass to management, but giving him away (along with a pick that has since turned into a top young defenseman in Merrill) for Oduya, a nothing flashy d-man, Cormier who has been a bust and Bergfors who literally was so afraid of being hit in the NA game that he returned to Europe. talented  but possibly the softest winger ever to lace them up. So they got nothing for the franchises all time greatest player. Kovie is so good that even after all of this time he still has more than double the goals of the next closest Thrasher/Jet all time.

MARIAN th?id=OIP.M5c28b30a3aa74d72ccbfe0a5e7867 HOSSA AND PASCAL DUPUIS TO THE PENGUINS FOR ANGELO ESPOSITO, COLBY ARMSTRONG AND ERIK CHRISTENSEN

The Thrashers (as usual) were out of it and shopped Hossa as a deadline deal guy and traded him to the Penguins for a package of three guys who were worse than bad. This one and the Kovie deal set the team back a decade. To make it worse they were fleeced by Shero with the throw in in Dupuis who had a nice decade long career until stopped by health issues.

That is that. I almost included the trade for Chris th?id=OIP.M87cf0e2dac8768dc2ab79cdbb8f89 Thorburn for a second rounder from Pittsburgh because he has stuck around forever and is the all time leader in both games played and PIMs in the organization.

The one that is still up in the air and needs some time to sort out was sending Evander Kane and Bogosian to the Sabres for Tyler th?id=OIP.M873c4b9c28c22e8d64594d3797e1d Myers, Drew Stafford, Joel Armia and Brendan Lemieux. Need another four or five years to see where this one ends up.
