Big game for the Wild, as most seem to be for them this season, to not only stay afloat in the post season chase, but to beat down a team immediately behind them trying to take their spot away from them.

Both teams have had their struggles with offense this season, and have at times, looked VERY mediocre as a defensive group as well.

That said, Wild vs Stars should be very fun. Seems no matter what is going with these teams, these games bring everything out on both sides......slick play, good goaltending, and yes, even nastiness...……….or one team shows up while the other is wondering when is game time...take yer pick...haha.

I know for many Minnesotans who used to love the North Stars, a win by the Wild in these games is always a huge deal.
I have only been a Wild fan since 2005, so if there is any real bile for the Stars, I'm afraid I don't share it (my husband, however, is another story....don't even get him started on the North Stars... lol), but still, I see the importance of beating a division rival like the Stars for not only playoff positioning, but bragging rights as to who the better State of Hockey or former State of Hockey team is.

Once again, the Wild face a "one line team" that, while they can be explosive, can also be contained and exploited if Minnesota has their wits about them.

Lines 1-4 overall, I like Minnesota's skaters...same with defense pairings, although John Klingberg on the Stars can be pretty dynamic (seeing him in action will probably make me miss Mat Dumba even more!).

If both teams show up to play, should be an exciting game...and I DO expect both to show up.
I haven't looked it up, but I believe whenever these teams play, the scoring, whether it is high scoring or low scoring is pretty even between the teams.
Hopefully that can be the case tonight, but with the added bonus of a Wild win on the road.

Go Wild GO!

When the Wild show up willing to put forth an effort for 60 minutes they win. If they choose to meander their way from one period to the next, hoping some sort of spark ignites, they barely have a reason to be on the ice except to collect a paycheck.

@TropicalFruitGirl26 you noted the Stars are a "one line team." True, but with the Wild they can often contain that one line while the Stars lower lines make our goaltenders look soft, even if players in front of them do well.

Sadly I'm not the only Wild fan holding his/her breath wondering when any Wild player coming off an extended time off decides to show up and play. Their mouths always say the right things but their brains and/or bodies aren't always engaged with what they're saying.

There's no rottenrefs on the ice for the Wild so these bums shouldn't be an issue:

I am watching the Canes/Vegas game and Nino just scored in his 5th straight game for them.  It came off a sweet skate pass by Williams. Sucks that he was struggling so much here since he has a lot of talent but just couldn't get things right here.

@rottenrefs LOL sorry I'll leave it to you from now on unless you're not here. But yes I was going to say the same thing a bunch of youngins on the ice in the stripes that I don't know how rotten they are yet.

By all means go for it, often we head out and watch the games away from home. Just happened to be home tonight.

So Panties said the Wild only had one practice during their whole time off and that was yesterday.

It must be nice having such a dedicated group (and so good) they don't need much practice.

Yeah, but the All-Star break combined with the bye week caused much of that.

Anyone here ever do the Polar Plunge? I've been thinking about it... Yeah, I'm done thinking about it.

Not officially but we were up at our cabin last year and my Grandpa never got the Dock in so I got in my Skivvies and helped him get it out. let's just say it was very very cold out.

Bingo. That gorgeous game against the Avs before the break showed what the Wild can do if they hustle for all or most of 60 minutes. Unfortunately, such sustained efforts are all too rare.

If the Wild could even do 2 out of 3 periods a game like they did last week on a consistent basis, a lot of us (like myself) would be grinning from ear to ear regardless of the final score.
