Both of these two players are studs and proven stars.  The Jets had to do it. I would say looking at the comparable contracts of similar players, these new contracts are in the right neighborhood.

id call these contracts team friendly compared to what they could have asked for. Especially Hellboy. He's placed top 4 for the Vezina in 4 of the last 6 years and accrued votes for the hart trophy in all 4 years. Even when Winnipeg's defense is putrid, he's solid. A bad year for him was 29 wins and a 91%sv

  2. Trade announcement.

Halifax trades Pyotr Kochetkov to brewin flames for Jason Robertson.

With Andersen out with blood clots, Kochetkov the goalie of the future is being given opportunity now. Brewin  needs a goalie with markstrom out week to week and I need firepower as my team has been sinking lately despite great goaltending.

Kochetkov has played 7 of the last 10 games, once in relief of Raanta and won 4, lost 1 and had 2 where he did not get a loss credit. He's given up 2 or less goals in 5 of 7 appearances.

Robertson doesn't look like the 47 goal 109 point +37 guy from last year as he is currently under a ppg with 22 points in 23 games and a -4, but I'm confident he will heat up.

I still have 2 workhorse goalies to fall back on and Thompson finally just came off IR so I'm hoping to change my fortunes with a boost up front.

Might shock those who know how much I love Koochie since ive hounded folks to get him in the keeper leagues. But this isn't a keeper and maybe I can draft him again next year lol.

  3. When i watch sports, I tend to gravitate to watching the highest level of competition. If the Olympics were on, I wouldn't watch NHL. if the NHL was on, I would not watch the AHL. if the AHL teams i was interested in watching prospects from was on, I wouldn't watch Moosehead games.

That being said, the elite best of the best Canadian Olympic gold women's team plays against our third string junior squads like the drumheller dragons in the AJHL(I don't even know if these kids go into the draft pool lol) to warm up against good competition for the Olympics and lose 8-0

Why would i want to watch such inferior product?

I was curious, so I checked. The Sharks special teams during Woodcroft's time:

    2008 - 10, 1
    2009 - 3, 5
    2010 - 5, 5
    2011 - 3, 24
    2012 - 2, 29
    2013 - 7, 6
    2014 - 20, 6
    2015 - 6, 25

Other than one year on the PP, and three with the PK, that's a great record.

I credit Joe Thornton and team with making that happen.

I can guarantee you if you go into old game day threads you will see a lot of people hating on him lol

    Quick thoughts in point form...

-As ever, the goalies' ability to make save will win a coach the Jack Adams, and their inability to make those saves will surely get him fired, too. The team's analytics are all at or near the top of the league, but when the goaltenders pitch a SV% of .864, it's very difficult to remain employed. The next coach usually comes in, the luck returns to normal, and it looks like a genius move.

-This is 100% Connor McDavid's team now. This past summer, they hired his agent as CEO, they've brought in several of his friends as teammates, and now they bring in his coach from junior. I'm only half kidding: is he going to get a percentage ownership in his next contract?

-I think that Jay Woodcroft is a decent coach, but he has to own his decision to completely change the team's structure. Moving away from their strengths, which had them right near the top of the league, and playing to their weaknesses, cost him dearly.

-The team wants to improve the way the blueline defends, so they bring in Paul Coffey to coach the defensemen? Makes sense, bro.

Never ever liked woodcroft when he was with the sharks.

Man the Oilers need to restructure their goalie coaching too lol

This is the absolute worst non expansion teams in NHL history. Bar none. I know a lot of folks in Shark land accept it and hope they can deal assets at the deadline for high picks but other than Hertl and the injured Couture nobody on this flop of a team has anything other than negative value. Oh a few kids, but you don't trade them you use them as building blocks and hope they don't pick up too many habits from the foreign legion of a roster. This is such a bad team. And Hertl/Couture have no move deals and love San Jose.

Oh I'm sure they will waive those LOL

    This bad

     10-1 loss to the Canucks.

In ten games the Sharks have ten goals, Vancouver scored ten against in one game.

      Bad of biblical proportion.

    Slacking for Macklin.

Imagine a team where MacKenzie blackwood is player of the month LOL

Dude as a wings fan who could barely watch them for several years, you hAve my sympathy. This Sharks team could literally shatter several non expansion records for futility.

Good match in cupquest btw. Congrats , I thought I had one move left Sunday but didn't. Probably wouldn't of mattered.

Im totally ok with a rebuild and im strapped in for 2-3 more years of suckage. The more high picks the better. I want a Sharks 1st overall.

If we can move more contracts for 1st and 2nd rounders, ill be happy. I'd like a Cole Eiserman and a Macklin Celebrini

The only time I am really watching right now is the rare night I don't work early and want to see how the youngsters are doing.

  9. I'm sad he never got a cup, but damn.

His scoring is otherworldly when accounting for era.

If he started his career in the 80s, and didn't miss a full lockout season + a half lockout season...

The man finished 12th all time in points and he started his career in the dead puck era for 7 years. 4th in all time assists.

Likely nobody but Gretzky would be ahead of him in assists had he started playing when messier or Francis did.
