  2. Pretty good game by the Flyers tonight.  Jones didn't do anything spectacular in net but he was solid.  The veterans (Yandle, Brassard) showed lots of leadership and weren't taking any schitt from the Caps.  Risto was physical all night.  They only scored one on the power play but they had good puck movement and it looked good.  There were lots of odd man breaks for the Flyers capped off by Laughton's breakaway goal.  Overall, a good night!  If their play translates to the regular season and it will be a good year!

Anyone comparing Yandle to Ghost has to be drunk. One has a fantastic career stat sheet and was for a long time considered among the top ten dmen in the league, the other had a couple reasonable seasons and was borderline ineffective at his role the rest of the time. Yandle is older of course, and we shouldn't expect a peak version of him, but even a lesser version of Yandle should absolutely be better than what we got out of Ghost for about 80% of his time in PHI.

I like the Yandle signing. There's really no downside to it. The way things stand, he's virtually guaranteed to be a better blueliner even at his age than Risto, Braun, or Morin, and he may even be better than Sanheim in most situations. All for a low price and no real commitment. What's not to like about that?

He also brings in more experience and the possibility of playing a mentor role, which I do think is more important than we might understand it to be a lot of the time.

    Stop makin sense! 😂

  4. I’m OK with this signing.  Yandle isn’t flashy but I think he is pretty steady.

Yandle may break Doug Jarvis’ consecutive games played record this year.  Actually, 3 guys may break it this year.

    Jarvis - 964

    Yandle - 922

    Marleau - 910

    Kessel - 900

Just did a lap driving around my neighborhood honking my horn. Neighbor said you were pissed at the Flyers yesterday and now your happy?

I said yep, being schizophrenic is a required trait to be a Flyers fan. I then explained the Flyers just dumped the biggest POS on their roster.

Calm down, Sir, or we’re going to have to ask you to leave! 🤣

Giroux is still with Flyers and saga will continue. First 10 games good, next 15 lost..90%.... miss playoffs again. As this guy can't play a full season good. I would send him for bunch picks and considerations just to get rid of him. So young guys can play forever and find to way win games.
