  1. I heard he's about as good defensively as Drysdale.
  2. Plenty of professional GMs make mistakes. I don't know what Colorado offered any more than you know what offers Briere turned down. I know we asked for Byrum, but they wanted a center and traded him to Buffalo for Mittlestadt. I don't know what the counter offer was. What are your thoughts on"The Professional " Briere signing an unproven goalie for 3 million? It doesn't seem to professional to me. I'm not saying I dislike Briere at all, let's just wait and see before he annoint him as a our savior. He is better than Shmuck but so are alot of people. I'm anxiously sitting by the phone waiting for it to ring.
  3. I wish we had some dmen elbowimg people in the face instead of a revolving door -6 softie like Drysdale. I like York ,I don't think he's a #1 but he's probably on his way to being a legit #2 guy, not flashy but steady, kind of like Desjardins. So what Dobson got abused, he scored 70 points and was a plus 12 on a mediocre Isles team. He is alot closer to a true #1 dman than anyone we have.
  4. And what do you think your argument is based on? It's based on the assumption that Briere got the best deal he could. Were you part of the conference call as a special advisor during the trade? You are also assuming Briere isn't gonna make the same mistakes as our previous GMs. He just signed Fedetov for three million a year for two years, that sounds very much like the Clarke/Homer/Fletcher school of thought. I can use the same tactics as you, arguing for the sake if arguing. If Briere took into account Drysdales injuries then he wouldn't have made the trade. We are in no position to take any gambles and we are gonna lose this one.
  5. Look at our first pair and compare it to Trouba and Fox. It's not bad but it surely isn't good enough. Due to years of mediocrity, we as Flyer fans are suffering from a condition known as the law of diminishing expectations.
  6. You asked based on what? Based on common sense, that's what. Do you think that only one team was interested in a top end player like Gauthier? You said Its logical that Briere took the best offer, since when have the Flyers done anything logical. I didn't say better offers ,I said other offers and what's a better offer in my mind might not be a better offer to Briere. It's common sense that there were multiple offers for a guy like Gauthier. I know for a fact Colorado was one team. Even if Drysdale had alot of upside, its obvious that Briere didnt factor in his chronic injury history. I would rather have a guy with a little less upside who can actually stay in the lineup. Since we will never know what the other offers were , there is no way to know, what Briere turned down. To sum it up, after being burned with Ellis and Patrick I would not have traded for a guy like Drysdale.
  7. I’m not saying he’s incompetent, I’m saying he may have thought trading for Drysdale was a good idea, when it turns out it wasn’t. There were obviously other offers for a player of Gauthier's caliber, what those offers are we don’t know. What I do know is based on Nolan Patrick and trading for an injured Ellis, Briere should have been more wary of trading for a guy who missed two full seasons. We were in no position to make any more major mistakes like trading for or drafting another soft or chronically injured guy and that’s what we did. I cannot see us winning this trade or breaking even since Drysdale needs core surgery. He’s injury prone it obvious.
  8. Mortimer, your brother! F him, turn those machines back on!!
  9. Drysdale missed almost two full seasons, missed half the games after being traded to Philly and now he needs offseason core surgery and as we have all seen before, it takes an entire season to get back to normal from that. So at this point we can’t even say that we broke even in the Gauthier deal. I have a sinking feeling it’s gonna be a big loss in that trade. I hope I’m wrong.
  10. I think the Drysdale trade will be a flop, I know he’s better than the other idiots we had, but he can’t miss in this draft and no drafting longshots , when you are lacking in talent you gotta go for the more sure thing. We have some catching up to do and I really hope we trade up for a high end dman, since there are only a couple of centers. I just hope he doesn’t go out and sign any 28 yr old UFAs like Reinhart , if we weren’t stuck with Coots then maybe. I heard we may trade Farabee, so that will free up 5 million, so you never know.
  11. Not really, in his mind Drysdale may have been the best offer but in Chuck Fletchers mind trading for and re-signing Risto was a good idea too. It all depends on your idea of a good deal. I would rather have had a player who didn’t spend his first three years with major injuries. I don’t how much talent you supposedly have, I’m just as concerned as if you can stay on the ice. I would think after Patrick and Ellis we would be wary of trading for anyone with injuries, but obviously not. They also thought signing Seeler for four years was a good idea too. Briere has made one good move so far , drafting Michkov. We have to wait and see if he turns into Shmuck Fletcher the second.
  12. How stupid of me to think that things were changing, it’s like a three card monte game with a new dealer.
  13. And another thing, why is it that they just announced Ristos injury is a ruptured triceps and he will be getting surgery and it will take three months to heal. Why wasn’t surgery done months ago to ensure 100% he will be ready for camp? I thought we got rid of the incompetent medical staff?
  14. I’m optimistic about Michkov, Andrae and Bonk , these seem to be some good picks. Tippett and Foerester are both snipers with some good size. Frost, Farabee and Brink have skill but are on the small side and I have written off Drysdale, there is no way we are even coming close to even in that trade. Now we need a legit #1 center with some size and a true #1/2 dman who can shutdown opponents and provide offense. I like Yakemchuk a big dman with offense and hitting skills, I dont think any centers will be around for our 12th pick unless it’s Hage a solid center with some size, but he’s more of a late first round pick. I’d like to trade up for Dickinson if we could. We cannot fail in this draft, we have had enough setbacks.
  15. So this is the third major injury for this guy in three years and how effective are players after this type of surgery, it usually takes a full year to be at 100% after core surgery, so he will probably be a non factor next year too. The more things change , the more they stay the same. Even the new regime trades for injured players. The rebuild/agressive retool has been going on since 2010 and we probably lose Carter Hart after having bad goalies for 30 years, we draft Mr Softee Nolan Patrick, then we get the 5th pick and our best prospect in years doesn’t wanna play and gets traded for another injury prone lemon. Im so fed up, I was 11 when the Flyers won the Cup, I may not live to see them win again.
  16. Gauthier is a highly regarded player, even if he didn't want to come to Philly his value had to be higher than an injury prone one dimensional defenseman. I don't have any proof, just like you don't have proof that Drysdale was the best deal out there. How is asking for Anaheims pick with a protection for one of the top-rated guys from the 2022 draft an unfair deal....and I don't have a Playstation. I'm just pissed off because I truly believe Drysdale is a flop and Gauthier is gonna be way better. We should have been more careful after the Ellis deal and drafting Patrick. How the hell could you trade for a guy who's been injured multiple times. This is not based on thirty games, it's bases on three NHL seasons where he has basically shown nothing. Didn't we have enough of our own injured guys who's development was hindered , we had to trade for another one.
  17. After what happened with Nolan Patrick, I don’t know how Briere even took a chance on twice injured , frail , small guy like Drysdale. We already have a dman just like him, minus the injuries in Cam York.. Gauthier was a #6 pick, so I would have asked for Anaheims pick protected as long as it wasn’t the#1 pick, if it was the #2 then we throw them something else. I don’t believe that was the absolute best offer out there,.We got robbed. I hope we unload Drysdale to move up in the draft before he becomes Patrick the second. He’s a p u $ $ y.
  18. It’s funny that the first big piece of our rebuild is already gone and I am not impressed with Drysdale, he’s a step above Ghost in talent level, his defensive game is mediocre and he hasn’t scored much, at least Ghost scored some big goals, Drysdale was invisible for the Flyers. He also said he may need offseason work done on his shoulder. Other than that it’s looking like a great trade.
  19. Konecny is a small guy who plays big and he has been injured a number of times throughout his career, he has missed about 20 games in three out of of his seven seasons. They have him listed at 192lbs, he is more like 175. I would gauge the trade market and see what the offers are before I give him a Coots style contract.
  20. ThenTorts factor of gettting the most out of the least and the style the Flyers play which is team defense, back checking, shot blocking and out working more talented teams is not sustainable over 82 games. Eventually the lack of talent will surface, it just surfaced a lot later than we expected. The tipping point was trading Walker and the injuries to Seeler , Coots and Konecny down the stretch. Without Torts we would have been a bottom five team. This team has a long way to go. We are solid on the wings ,especially RW, Center and Defense are the top priority going forward.
  21. That’s what I’m hoping for. F the playoffs. With the 12th pick you can get a good player and it’s easier to trade up from 12 than from 20.
  22. Yes that defensive stalwart Seeler was a -5 and the potential all star Drysdale was a -6, that re-signing and Gauthier trade are looking like some great moves.
  23. His scouting report actually says he needs to paired with a defensive guy to get the most out of him.
