  1. I met Mike Richards once after a game in Toronto and quite honestly, he was the most miserable millionaire at the time. I think everything gets amped up in Philadelphia and he hated being under the microscope. It certainly didn't help that he and Pronger did not like each other at all.
  2. Yep. My hope is that Foerster's skating tops out similar to Robertson in Dallas. He wasn't a strong skater either and he seems to have adjusted alright.
  3. Just a heads up that I worked with Jeff Carter's mother and that I met Jeff regularly. That man was a ridiculous hard worker. As for boozing it up, he wasn't a boozer at a lot of the events I saw him at. If he was a boozer, he wouldn't have lasted as long as he has. I think the reason Carter was moved was because of his closeness to Richards. I think Holmgren was worried about the locker room and that Carter might have been a distraction with his best friend being moved. I still remember breaking the Columbus deal to his mom at work and she was livid and left work that day.
  4. I'm wondering if the Lightning now decide to target Walker and Seeler and to ensure they get them, they offer up Isaac Howard and a bad contract the Flyers absorb. The Flyers did say they were going to weaponized cap space.
  5. You've got one job, Danny. DON'T Fletcher this deadline!!!!
  6. Tanev went to Dallas for a 2nd, conditional 3rd and a prospect. This should make Walker that much more in demand.
  7. You know it. Seravalli also reported tonight that Vancouver and Petterson are close to a new 8 year deal. Elias is going nowhere.
  8. Number one centers are really hard to come by. I've read about Petterson in Vancouver, but you can bet that Vancouver will match any offer sheet and if Petterson does want out, it's going to cost a fortune to land him. The Flyers aren't at a place where they can afford to do this. Best thing the Flyers can do is flood the farm system with centers and see if one will emerge. For instance, if they can land a first and Bourque from Dallas for Seeler and Walker, that's a good start. As well, if Vegas is on the hunt for Laughton, I'd love to see the Flyers target David Edstrom. That leaves three first round picks. With the three picks, I'd love to see Boisvert, Hage and either Ritchie or Howe be the third selection. That's two guys who are going to the NCAA route and another one who is Canadian major junior. They're going to play a lot. I want to see a calculated approach to building. No more rushing, no more cheating. Trade for young prospects or draft and develop them.
  9. That's why Tortorella should have used Frost there, regardless. This was nothing more than win at all costs.
  10. I still think Couturier can bounce back. His smarts alone are enough to carry him. And honestly, I expected a rough year after missing nearly two full years. Quite frankly, I'm surprised he's played as well as he has and that maybe, just maybe, the head coach shouldn't have ridden Couturier as hard as he had. That's one of my gripes about Tortorella. He just doesn't know when to let up. There was no reason to ride Couturier so hard. I think Couturier has a big bounce back year next year.
  11. Stankoven is going nowhere, unfortunately. He's pretty much untouchable at this point.
  12. They gotta find a way to get out of that Atkinson contract. As much as the Flyers are stuck with the Couturier contact, that Atkinson deal is a boat anchor. On the brighter side of things, I've read that things are picking up with Dallas and while Dallas doesn't want to give up a 1st and a 2nd for Seeler and Walker, there was word that a first and some prospects (Bourque and Kyrou were named) is starting to gain some traction.
  13. But what if the reclamation project is a guy like Spencer Knight, who Florida seems to be souring on and is considering moving him .....
  14. I don't think Tyson's skating issues are as bad as everyone claims they are. He seems to be keeping up with the play and doesn't look out of sorts. He had to completely change his skating style and it seems to be paying off.
  15. The Flyers need to add a goalie. It would be great if they could add someone who's capable of something over .910 as a save percentage. I like Ersson, but God damn, you need to do better than .900. It's starting to get old real fast.
  16. It's time to sell. Defense prospects and draft picks. That shoulder of Drysdale is now officially a concern, especially if it's a labrum tear again.
  17. Something tells me Laughton ends up in Vegas. They just put Eichel and Stone onto IR. They're going to save some bucks to make a move and acquiring a guy like Laughton would be such a Vegas thing to do. And wouldn't it be something if David Edstrom was the return (and yes, they've given away top prospects for players, especially when they have term or Vegas signs them to an extension). I'd almost consider buying out Atkinson at this point and run with Konecny, Tippett, Foerster and Hathaway as the RWs. The LWs could be Farabee, Lyksell, Cates and Deslauriers. I keep Brink and Tuomaala away from this and let them run out the stretch in Lehigh Valley to see if they can dominate. The Flyers took a huge step this year and they stepped up in the face of adversity and everything that's going on with Carter Hart. But you can see they're running out of gas. They still don't have enough horses and that's perfectly fine. This isn't an overnight fix. But there's good pieces there. Let Briere add better pieces. And they've got cap space they're willing to weaponize too. And if Briere knocks it out of the park with returns on Walker and Seeler (and I think that's what Briere is pushing for), that will speed things up even further. I would love to see if Briere could pull getting either Isaac Howard (Tampa Bay) or Rutger McGroarty (Winnipeg) in a return for Walker and Seeler.
  18. And that's why I'm more than willing to see Seeler moved for a 3rd - because he'll re-sign to a higher number and he'll fall off a cliff. As well, and I'm sure people are gonna go nuts when I say this, but guys like Seeler are a dime a dozen, especially at the trade deadline. And as mentioned, Ginning is sitting in Lehigh Valley and he does the same thing that Seeler does.
  19. Well, now it's been reported that four teams are looking at trying to deal for Walker AND Seeler. Carolina, Minnesota, Winnipeg and Tampa Bay have made calls. The two combined are just over $3 million. That should be enough to get some great returns. I still think Winnipeg is the best option, especially with the depth of prospects they have. If somehow the Flyers could convince Tampa Bay to give up Isaac Howard in any trade, that would be a great starting point. Not sure what Carolina or Minnesota could offer though....
  20. I'm in Owen Sound this evening to see the Attack vs Windsor Spitfires. Will get a close up on Liam Greentree and will give a full report after the game.
  21. I don't like the idea of re-signing Seeler. The Flyers need to know what they have in Adam Ginning. As a former second round pick, we need to see if he can fill the Seeler role at the very least. This much we know about Ginning. The man can skate. The man is physical and he's got a bit of a mean disposition. If Seeler can net a third, that works. I'm also onboard with moving Walker. He was a great throw in to the Provorov trade. It's time to maximize that asset and get something really good for the future. I don't think moving those two is throwing in the towel either. There are players in the AHL that the Flyers need to see what they have. I'm good with the following pairings if the above moves happen: York - Drysdale Ginning - Sanheim Zamula - Attard *****Ristolainen <- using him as 7 gives him a chance to heal up a bit after his recent upper body surgery.
  22. So I saw something the other day that both Buffalo and Winnipeg have been heavily scouting the Flyers. Peyton Krebs, Ville Heinola and Chaz Lucius were the names that came up as players the Flyers are interested in from both clubs.
  23. It would be nice though if Ersson could put up a save percentage over .915. The Flyers certainly keep the shots low, but Ersson needs to do a little better back there.
  24. Dale Hunter runs an exceptionally tight ship in London though. Veteran players will always get the preferential treatment they're because they know specifically what he wants. And don't forget that Easton Cowan was in the same boat as Barkey was. When everything clicked for Barkey and Cowan in the playoffs, that's when everyone started to take notice. Do I think Barkey is the next Brayden Point? I doubt it. However, there's no reason to believe that he can't be a less abrasive Brad Marchand. I'm hopeful that they won't do the typical Flyers development plan and pigeon hole Barkey into a role. Develop his talent and see where he fits. Don't try to fit him into a spot in the system.
