  1. Rinaldo should have been in the lineup the entire series... from what I've read on these boards, most posters think he is usless.. I disagree.

JvR was put in his place and turned out to be the one that was useless and took up a roster spot.

  2. I do see a cup in Philly's future but I don't see Bryzgalov as part of that future. The rookies got valued experience this year, Giroux has come into his own but Holmgren will have to make changes on defense and some forwards. Talbot reminds me of Dave Poulin in the way he plays. What do they do with JVR, do you make him a bargaining chip in order to get a young top 4 defenseman. How about Hartnell, he's got one year left on his contract, do you resign him to an extension considering he didn't have a great second round. Jagr, I'd bring back at a lower cap hit if he really wants to resign in Philly. The Flyers are getting there but once again they have to solve the goalie situation.

By the time the team figures out what to do with Bryzgalov or the goaltending situations in general, these "rookies" will be with other teams. The Flyers will not be able to keep them all.

  3. Without Richards, the Kings are not in the Conference Finals.

His playoff experience & leadership have made a huge difference in LA. He took a very talented team that could never get out of the first round & convinced them that they could win.

It's no accident that he is always on the ice in crunch time for them to close out games.

So very true... faceoffs, passing, hitting and even a fight in this series got the rest of the Kings all fired up... I know Brown is the captain, but Richards makes for a pretty dam good one himself. he probably likes just being "just another player" on the team.

  4. The guy I feel bad for is Jack Johnson. How pissed is he right now?!!

I don't think he will be that pissed...why get angry at something you had no control over. All players understand its a business and has happened to the best of em. He's going to be a real good player moving forward and make that team better.

Scored the OT goal against Canada the other night in the World's!

  5. Offense was hard to watch as well... seems like everyone is one step behind the Devils. Everytime the Flyers entered the offensive zone with the puck, there are two Devils on that guy and he can't do anything.... happened throughout the game 2 and 3.

  6. No worries, guys... it happens all the time and quite justified to the way people think about the city...it does not have a good track record. And for the record, when I commute in and out to work in Newark, its lierally in and out as fast as I can... not stopping to enjoy the "sights" in and around the city! lol

  7. @ Bertmega

Newark is still a hole, but they did clean up the stadium area when they opened it up. It's pretty safe as long as you don't make any wrong turns.....but as WC Fields supposedly said, I'd rather be in Philadelphia

I've worked in Newark for 17+ years... the area around the arena has always been "cleaned up"... the arena makes it that much better. The folks living in the Ironbound section of newark should be proud of themselves for keeping these neighborhoods clean, safe, and continue to open businesses and declicious restaurants found nowhere else in the city.

However... true, if you don't know where you are going, don't stray too far away from the general area...

  8. No, but that's not his job, either. If the Parise line isn't scoring, (and it isn't), then Wellwood/Couturier/Talbot are doing their job. In fact, I think they spent more time in the offensive zone than the defensive, and a lot of that has to do with Wellwood's ability to get on the puck quickly on the forecheck. Any goals that line puts up are a bonus - and I think they will pot a few before the series is over based on their play.

Parise's line isn't scoring? Parise scored in game 1 and In game 2, due to Kovalchuck being out, Deboer had to mix up his lines... Zajac/Clarkson/Elias and Parise all have scored in this series so far.

Agreed that any goals the wellwood line puts up is a bonus, but the truth is, they haven't done that yet and the Devils' go to guys continue to produce on offense.

  9. Don't sit Jagr, but please Lavy... take Simmonds off of the 1st PP unit with Harts and G. There is absolutely no chemistry there.. I personally think Read would be a nice fit on that line.

Truth be known, I would not mind seeing Rinaldo back in the lineup. But that may mean the 4th line in a whole might see less ice time. Wellwood has some really nice speed, but he really does not fill the net too often, does he?

  10. What is the idea of putting Simmonds with Giroux and Hartnell on the power play? That unit pretty much generated one shot in all of the PP opportunities combined. It didn't work in the 1st, obvioulsy didn't work in the 2nd... and yet still in the 3rd, Lavy used that same combination. IT DID NOT WORK!

Not saying that was the reason for the loss, but at least try a different combination... especially on the power play.

  11. This game 4 is riding heavily on Bryz's shoulders. He needs to play extremely well so the Flyers can ultimately move on. Bryz cannot allow any 'cheap' or soft goals that will give the Pens the slightest confidence...

I would also like to see the Flyers close this out... who cares about the suspensions at this point? the bigger prize is for the Flyers to take.

Also take the "nonsense" that has been going on the first 3 games in stride... its over and done with.. don't reflect on it, don't rehash it, just play the game hard, go to the net and seize the opportunities!

I have a feeling the refs will try their best to keep the game in check... even though the Pens were the instigators of much of the broo-ha ha in the first 3 games, the Flyers must remain disciplined... you will see some soft calls against the Flyers, but again, do not give anything to the Pens that will result in PPs for that team. Malkin is overdue and obviously the other players not suspended will definitely step up their game.. but if the Flyers keep pace, they will take this one.

  12. That's at least five former or current coaches/players in just a week calling Crosby out. I do take issue with one thing Cherry said: "... Crosby shouldn't have retaliated against Schenn." It was the other way around, Schenn retaliating for Crosby initiating dirty play. When Crosby hit the deck, he didn't look to see who it was, he knew who; he was looking to see if a referee saw it. Ever see a little kid fall down and not start to cry until she sees Mommy? That's Sid.

If I remember correctly, Schenn threw a nice, clean body check into Crosby along the boards... Sid tried to almost ducking under it, Sid's helmet came off... Sid retaliated after that.. not only against Schenn, but two vicious slashes, breaking his stick on one of them. Then, and only then, Schenn retaliated with that little shove that obviously Crosby embelished to holy hell...

  13. Yes, you forgot that the Flyers just won 5 in a row, have some key injuries to their core D, injuries to a few forwards and Bob hasn't played in a while.. and playing back to back nights, facing a hot Devils team.

Man, some of you guys are just complete downers and don't see the positive in anything the Flyers do...
