  1. I think the signing is a great one for the Habs. The going rate for most quality d-men seems to be just around 4M+. Although I'm not fond of deals much longer than 4 years. Georges will only be 33 when it ends. Hope it helps set a ball park figure to sign Carle.....just not for as many years.
  2. Anyone think Recchi could come out of retirement before the trade deadline?
  3. It wouldn't be Philly without a goalie controversy. hey aziz, just in case you aren't keeping track.......this will be Bob's 12 start of the season. B)
  4. @Vincent05 If Bryzgalov is as fierce of competor as which he states himself as being......then I fully expect him to put the effort in to returning to the form as to why he was brought here in the first place.
  5. Are you sure the team is really struggling without Pronger? If you look at the numbers the team has the same % of losses with or with out Pronger this season. Pronger only played in 13 games five of which were loses. His absence really hasn't made a difference. Thus I'm not really sure why your assuming the defense isn't playing that well and that they need step it up 10x's more to be successful. They have been successful. The team is only 2pts out of a tie with the Rangers for first place. Bob is playing well right now, and yes I'm hopeful Laviolette will ride the hot hand, typically it is what Laviolette has done in the past. IMO, the goaltending should be as much of a team effort as the forwards and defense. Meaning play the best players each night to allow the team to win. Bryz will get his game back.
  6. @Vincent05 So basically the those same idiodic Pens fans give Talbot a standing ovation, and yet they Boo'd Jagr. Talbot willingly left their beloved Cindy-team to their hated arch-rivals, while Jagr was traded at a time when those same Penguin fans wouldn't fill the seats of their areana so that Jagr could be payed his due value. lol
  7. @Vincent05 What I found interesting in that article comparing to the struggles that he is having today, is the "in between" in which Bryzgalov applied that work ethic, and desire to become on of the elite goaltenders, a Veniza candidate. I think he has it in him to dig a bit deeper and play like the goalie he was in Arizona. As noted by those stats I posted in an earlier article, a lot of his starts this season are not his norm.
  8. I'm not sure why your stating that the Defense has been struggling? I think Timonen, Coburn, Carle, and Meszaros have been solid since Pronger has been on IR. Bourdon is also playing relatively well for a rookie. It is hard for me to believe Laviolette sets up a different game plan for the team D as well when Bryz or Bob are in goal. The difference between the two goaltenders is that Bob is laterally quicker, and has learned to smother the puck preventing juicy rebounds. On the other hand, Bryzgalov hasn't been reading the plays as well as Bob, once his positioning is off, he is finding himself not able to control the rebounds. Those pucks are bouncing off his defenders or the opponents are quickly shooting them into the open net. There was a period of time last season when Bob had a difficult time as well, he was giving off big rebounds, and he was dropping down too fast and the opponents started to shoot high for goals. Bryz will turn his game around, he just needs some time right now to work with Reese.
  9. I think Bryzgalov will turn his game around. But it is going to take some time to get back to basics and find that drive...effort....work ethic that got himself to the elite status in the first place. Bryz has made a lot of statements lately as to how comfortable he is outside the rink.....It is time he makes himself comfortable on the ice as well. I came across this 2 year old article today.......there are sure some striking similarities that would make you think he said these things last week. http://www.azcentral.com/sports/coyotes/articles/2009/12/05/20091205p2spotlight1206.html
  10. I agree, Bryz needs to get his mindset back into being the best goaltender he can be for the Flyers and if that means spending extra time with Reese for awhile, then so be it. Give the Flyers the best chance for a win ............Play Bob.
  11. Avery placed on waivers again. No Classic What a loser.
  12. I'm wondering if before shutting JVR down, Holmgren just wanted to get through the Classic with the best line-up possible, including Schenn and Couturier's return to play.

  15. Didn't seem to be a problem. Couturier with 2 assists and nearly 13 min of ice time. Including some pk time as well as his shifts near the end of the game. It looked as if he never missed a game.
  16. According to the teamstream...... Rinaldo is out. possible liine Schenn Couturier Harry Z
  17. @doom88 My guess he will see limited ice time as did Schenn in the previous game Interesting line-up non-the less, a strategy to limit the number of PPs given to the Penguins.
  18. Couturier to be back in the line-up tonight on a line with Schenn and Harry Z. Says his hearing is almost back to normal.
  19. http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=KvQrAXIDTTQ&vq=medium#t=15 GIROUX: Are you taking this faceoff? OTT: I'm fifth in the league. G: At what? OTT: At faceoffs, look at NHL.com. G: You are? OTT: You're a good player, you're doing well-- G: I never said you were bad. OTT: I'm fifth in the league, so I'm probably gonna win it right here. K? G: *slight giggle* Alright. [whistle blows, puck drops, Giroux wins faceoff, Flyers score] howevver..........Steve Ott is currently #10 in face off wins.
  20. Laviolette's Flyers Rangers intermission speech:
  21. @aziz, no I don't have the data, the link is broad street hockey at the bottom
  22. duh, wishful thinking. I'll edit it, .........lol
  23. Good point doom, Bryz has been pulled in 3 games. One of which Bob only played 13min against Tampa and made 3 saves in a 5 -2 win, which probably doesn't have any effect. But the other two may change the numbers some. Bob played 43min and made all 23 saves against the Islanders for a 4-3 win. And in the latest game Bob played 33 min and made 16 of 17 saves in Bostons 6-0 rout.
