I’m going to get toasted for this but it starts at the top.... you’ve done a complete overhaul of coaching staff.... this team does it year in and year out of starting slow. I say it is time to move “a star” player if practicable. I’m sick of excuses for this team. Period.

Glad there is another Wings fan, saw he drafted Mantha and a few ex wings. HAH! Beat him to Larkin, lol

That would be @Hale  a co-worker who also joined us in our nhl draft this spring, a rather knowlegeable hockey fan for sure.  He won the Conn Smythe last season,  just saying...

I didn't realize how much I missed having @hf101 in the league last year until last nights draft. Always has a plan while drafting. I tried to play along and figure out the draft strategy and saw HF come out solid in every category as usual.

Thank you,  and yes my strategy.  Come in unprepared and ... wing it.    ;)     I guess I'm doing something right as no one has yet figured out this onthefly strategy.   🤣

@J0e Th0rnton  we missed you bud,  hope you didn't get too many reject players.

  3. And two years later...  The Rangers have apparently informed Shattenkirk that he will be bought out.

Shattenkirk has two years remaining on the four-year, $26.6-million pact he inked with the Rangers on July 1, 2017. The deal carries a cap hit of $6.65 million.

The 30-year-old is owed $6.6 million in base salary in 2019-20 and $2 million in base salary - with a $2-million bonus - in 2020-21, according to CapFriendly.

BUT...Next year ought to be really interesting...

I've become convinced that none of these offer sheets are legitimate attempts to get a player.

I mean, it remains to be seen what Shero actually offers, but the Canadiens Aho offer was so pathetic it seemed like a bald-faced attempt of collusion to get him to sign with his current team for less than he's worth.

But then Shero is a completely different animal imo.  Especially when he wants to make a statement.

  5. There are some rumors out there that Shero is seriously considering sending an offer sheet to either the Jets or Leafs in pursuit of Laine or Marner.  Which may seem very likely as they may try to go all in this year.  Apparently Shero has been given the ok to go for it.

Marner makes the most sense to me, but Laine may be the target considering Hall may walk after this season.  Either way though Shero has really strengthened this team in the off season and I think if any GM is going to make a statement on offer sheets it will be Shero.

Generally agree about Team Comcast and their “bias for action.”   I think, to some degree, they backed the team into a corner, at least as it relates to the Hayes signing.  But, I am not sure that explains Fletcher’s apparent penchant for leaving a little something on the table with each move he makes.  I just think that may be his style.  It also doesn’t explain the Schlemko move.  Has anyone figured out a rationale for that move?

Overall, the team has improved on paper.  That cannot be disputed.  Hayes is a legit 2C and fits well with Vigneult.  Niskanen and Braun bring some much needed leadership and stability to the defense, which should yield benefits to the young dmen as well.  I’d prefer to add a veteran at 3RW (Justin Williams), but won’t cry if they don’t.  Plus, he added a legit NHL coaching staff, though I am not enamored with Therrien in the least.  Pretty solid job. Now, I just want to see what he does with Provorov and TK.  Provorov’s market will be set by Werenski and McAvoy, so Fletch may not have a lot of room to work there.  I’m real curious to see what happens with TK.  I still think that’s going to be the most difficult negotiation.

I'm ok with this spot being open for someone in training camp to earn this roster spot.  The talent is there, it is just a matter of who will step up and grab the spot. My eyes are on Issac Ratcliff to earn the spot.
