  1. Not sure what TK is looking for. Apparently Boeser rejected a 6yr/$42M deal ($7M per AAV). He and TK have similar stats, with the edge going to Boeser. Is that the kind of contract he's looking for? In the end, he just doesn't have the same leverage over the Flyers as Provorov did.
  2. Interesting stuff happening in camp. AV praised the JVR/Hayes/Lindblom line and said Oskar looked really good on the right, and will get a longer look during exhibition games. So for tomorrow night, we could be looking at a top 6 of G/Coots/Farabee JVR/Hayes/Lindblom I like it. Bottom 6? Laughton/Frost/Voracek Raffl/Rubstov/Ratcliffe Provorov/Niskanen Ghost/Braun Sanheim/Myers Should be a fun game tomorrow night.
  3. It certainly doesn’t help, but it might not be that bad. Hayes almost doubles the production we got from Patrick last year, and if Farabee starts in the top 6, surely he could maintain a 30-point pace at minimum. Laughts and Ruby as 3C/4C. Obviously we want the whole team to be together, but I actually think it would be manageable.
  4. He definitely has a high trade value based on his draft position alone. It has obviously taken a decent hit because of injuries and mediocre stats, but he could easily be moved if they wanted to. As much as Frost will (hopefully) develop into a dynamic offensive player, if Patrick is out for the season opener, I’d give Rubstov a shot at 3C if he has an impressive camp. G/Coots/Jake JVR/Hayes/TK or ? Lindblom/Rubstov/Laughton Raffl/Vorobyev/Pitlick
  5. Did he really say that? That’s odd because he was on the ice this week, wasn’t he? Injuries becoming a concern with this guy.
  6. Week to week?? Sheesh. Concussion? What else would be week to week that they wouldn’t disclose (like a shoulder or hernia or whatever)?
  7. I think that’s the key - on paper it’s a good lineup. But four rookie forwards has a lot of downsides on the ice that translate into OTL and L while they learn the ropes. I doubt management would be ok with that. It could totally work out, but the risk is much higher than with known quantities.
  8. Ghost and TK for Marner or Laine... even though we’d just be trading one problem child for another.
  9. I love TK and his energy. He's a fun player to watch and I think he's only going to get better. Get this guy in camp and start gunning for a Cup.
  10. Just read Meltzer's latest blog and he says Patrick is not in camp due to a UBI. Has not been cleared to be on the ice? Any one hear anything about his injury?
  11. Right, and this is where Marner is a bit delusional - There is no universe in which Marner is a better player than McDavid. I realize that Marner's deal would come 3-4 years after McDavid's, so that's a consideration. But highest paid player in the league? I don't know how true this is, but the folks at BSH radio mentioned today that Provorov (or his agent) has indicated he wants to be the highest paid player on the team. Thoughts? If he hadn't just laid an egg of a season, he would have a much stronger case.
  12. Haha, it's less extreme than it sounds. I just mean that I'd rather Fletch stand his ground *if* the Provorov camp is not being reasonable, e.g. the $10M demand. Apparently that is untrue, so they're probably not all that far apart.
  13. Oh really? The article I read made it sound like his dad was his agent.
  14. Yes, Gandler represents Provorov. Mitch Marner is the one who has his dad as his agent.
  15. I mean, when you have your dad as your agent, it's probably very hard to be objective. Flyers fans know all about that!
  16. To illustrate a more difficult case (and @CoachX this is what I meant by a GM not just capitulating to a player's demands if it doesn't make sense for his vision of the organization):
  17. I think this is the crux of it - this whole thing feels driven and manufactured by his agent. Provorov does not at all seem like the primadonna type. He's quite the opposite. His agent, on the other hand...
  18. It's not that the Flyers would be "better off without him," that makes no sense. I love Provorov and hope he's a lifetime Flyer - we waited a looooong time for a homegrown cornerstone defenseman. All I was saying is that if Fletch decides he's not just going to "give Provorov whatever he wants," and they weren't able to reach a deal, then so be it. It's neither side's fault, it would basically boil down to either side having very different views on perceived value. In any case, I figure this is all a moot point and that Provy will sign today. Last I saw was $6.8M over 6 years.
  19. Me too! I had read somewhere that it was going to be streamed... If not, can one of you guys go and do a FB/Youtube live event or something?
  20. Sure, but last season he was pretty awful... and again, not just because of the 'team' but because he was making uncharacteristic gaffes all season long. I know, learning process, he's young, asked to be #1, coaching was an issue, organization was in turmoil, we used a charter plane worth of goaltenders... but he still did not look ok. So Chuck has to decide if that was a minor dip in the development curve, or indicative of something else. I'm pretty sure he will be fine long-term.... it's more about Fletch gambling 8 years and $64M that he will be a bonafide #1. In all likelihood, it's a safe bet that he will find his game again and grow from it, but I'm not the one signing the cheques nor do I have to manage a salary cap. The Hayes signing was a luxury... if it goes south, it's no fun but the team can afford one or two bloated contracts. All teams have them. That's why contracts are risk/reward. But Fletch can't go full Homer either, and hand out huge contracts with NMCs.
  21. Of course, I'd love to have him in the lineup, but I'm completely ok if Fletch decides "nope, you're just not being reasonable" and does what he feels is best for the team.
  22. Apparently it was a bit of negotiating tactic because Zacha just signed a 3 year deal with the Devils a few hours ago lol. So he 'played' in the KHL for all of like 6 hours.
  23. Honestly, I'd be fine with the Flyers standing firm and moving on the season without him if they can't reach an agreement. https://sports.yahoo.com/does-zach-werenskis-contract-mean-200901243.html?src=rss Unrelated but interesting tidbit I saw this morning: the player drafted right before Provorov - Pavel Zacha - has signed in the KHL.
