  1. It appears the power play isn’t going to be any better this season.
  2. As someone new to the board this year, I’d just like to say I appreciate the game previews. One thing that I’d find interesting to add if it wasn’t too much trouble is the all-time series standings between the Wild and the night’s foe. But it’s for sure great like it is!! Thanks!!
  3. While winning 4 come from behind one goal games to start the season shows the fight this team has, it also shows that we could very easily be 0-4 if the pucks hadn’t bounced our way. Perhaps the high adrenaline games have them feeling a little jet lagged tonight?? I could be in the minority, but color me very unimpressed with the play of our defensemen in our defensive end. Perhaps they are having trouble adjusting to the cross checking rules?? We just seem to give up way too many open chances in our slot and around the goal. It’s been that way since game one to me and it’s ALL of the defensemen if you ask me, even Dumba, Spurgeon and Brodin. Am I alone in the thought?
  4. Great to be 4-0!! Great to win close games too. That shows some character. Having said that, we have got to stop giving up so many scoring chances right in the slot. I’m really looking for some improved defense in front of our own net beginning….well today.
  5. Agree about the first line. Overall I thought everyone played well in the offensive end with the possible exception of Greenway, who I thought looked a step slow or uninterested. That might be a little harsh and I didn’t specifically key on him on his shifts, but when I did notice him, he looked slow. On the defensive end, we just allowed way to many chances in front of our net. That has to be shored up. And all those penalties….well, we can’t do that every night and be successful.
  6. If tonight was any indication, we are gonna have some fun and exciting games against the Jets this year.
  7. What a save by Talbot to save the game and start the final rush!!!
  8. Now, shoot the damn puck instead of trying to make the perfect pass!!
  9. Need to tighten up the defense around our net but overall, I thought a solid period. I love what Kaprizov did. Jets have taken some runs at him so he picks out the biggest guy on the ice and takes a run at him. I like that grit and fearlessness.
  10. This is not going to be a popular take but here goes...... I say sign Kaprizov regardless of cost, but preferably a 4 year deal rather than 3. The more years the better his trade value. This team isn’t winning a cup going forward because of the cap restrictions. Let’s get him signed and give it our best shot next year before the cap hits. After next season, I say we do a quick tear down and rebuild this thing around Rossi, Boldy, Addison, Kappo, etc. Trade Kaprizov for a haul. Move Dumba for young talent. Trade Spurgeon and Brodin if you have takers. If we rebuild around youth the cap isn’t as big a factor. You could afford to keep Greenway if you like at that point. I just think that with the cap issues you can’t win a cup. What good is Kaprizov for 3-4 years if he really wants to play somewhere else. Let’s move him and use him to rebuild.
  11. Wild have signed Alex Goligoski to a one year $5M deal.
  12. If you have a subscription to The Athletic, Scott Burnside’s article where he shadowed BG for the four days leading up to and including the draft is a great read. Some real insight into what goes on behind the scenes. I found the talk about Eichol interesting. I’m sure BG wants him, but I also feel very confident after reading that the plan is to build a successful franchise for the long haul with a good foundation.
  13. Wild take the Carson Lambos at #26. I’ll trust BG but I’m lukewarm on this pick. He was best player available on ESPN’s board but I’ve seen others rank him as low as 27th. That tells you it isn’t a bad pick at 26 but he’s coming off a medical procedure and a season where he didn’t play much. I would have been happier taking Pinelli, Chibrkov, Stankoven or Olausson but who the hell am I to argue with BG??
  14. Appears to be a shrewd move by BG and the Wild. I was really disappointed that Svechkov wasn’t there but being able to get Wallstedt here AND hang on to the other first round pick was a great move.
