We don't have an exact date yet, but some time after Christmas, my wife and I are going to a ski lodge for a couple days. There's a rink in the complex. I haven't made up my mind yet, but I think I might take some curling lessons. They're available, and It seems like it would be fun. I no longer skate, because I'm afraid of falling. But, I think I could remain upright without skates. Either FC or Podein said that there was drinking involved in the sport. I've got that part down pat, it's the sliding that might be tricky.

It's just fun to see a young player take another step upward. Whether it's the NHL or mites. One of the charms of hockey is that we see some kid starting to show signs of moving to a better level. Then he does it on a more consistent basis, and it's a joy to watch that change. There are ups and downs in that development, but we hockey buffs recognize that growth. That's why we don't give up on a kid such as JVR.

Ah...... Good one. We're all of one family. We share pretty much the same experience. You said it well.

"Gump Worsley - he would get drunk before every game. That ain't happening anymore. Pods doesn't count." When Gump was playing for New York, a reporter asked him which NHL team gave him the most trouble. Worsley said "the Rangers". I watched a few games with Lorne Worsley when the Canadiens were scouting John LeClair. He's a really funny guy.

I read the original post and the answers. It's nice to read the different responses to the trap problem by hockey-wise people. This is what a hockey forum should be. No insults, smears, nor snide comments by someone who wouldn't know a puck from a petunia. This place looks like it's going to be fun.

I'm not used to this forum. If I'm duplicating a post, it's because I'm old and full of Jamesons. But, I'm glad that Mark Howe is going to the Hockey Hall of Fame. He deserves it. He's a superb hockey player. I think he never got the recognition he deserved because he was Gordie's son. Times change. The players of today are bigger, stronger, quicker and more skilled than the players of a generation ago. I think that if Mark played in his Dad's era, he would have had the impact of a Bobby Orr. Anyway, Mark Howe is getting an honor he earned. Good for Mark.

".with a forward by Jaque Lemaire" I don't like trap hockey. And the Devils played boring games. But, LeMaire is a decent guy. He was a hell of a hockey player. And, when he was at Plattsburgh, he was always open to hockey talk over a cup of coffee. I know there are people here who dislike him. I like almost all hockey players. And, I like Jacques.

"Paterno claims he did no know (I call BS on that one)." Me too. He had to have known. I think they should fire his sorry ass as of yesterday. He's lucky he's not going to jail.

It's also a lot quicker. The screens change in an instant.

We all know that face-off percentages can be improved somewhat by practices. Maybe Flyers could give some old pro a few bucks for some lessons.
