How do you outshoot a team 20-4, and only have a 1-0 lead? Frustrating. Again, the Flyers need snipers and finishers. I would, as I said before, like to see Briere trade for one. As I type this, Tarasenko ties the game.
They aren't talented enough to make a lot of noise once they get there, IMO anyway.. so forget the "all in for the playoffs". I would really like to add a veteran scorer and backup goalie, but if they can't do that..I'm more than happy to rid ourselves of the salaries of a player like Atkinson, who's best hockey days seem very much to be behind him. Then the organization's next step should be, stop overpaying.
Not happy with the backchecking intensity or awareness, on that play. Credit to the Caps' Lindgren for a heck of a save, but the Flyer dmen and forwards can't get caught like that...after that save happened.
Yeah, I like Foerster's game too. Great goal last night, beating a very good goalie soundly. Vasilevskiy was totally fooled by that shot. He has a lot of good offensive moves, and prowess. He's shifty, though he has to still work on his skating ability. The Flyers have a lot of good, young, promising forwards. That being said, I'd like to see them add a good goal scoring forward at the deadline, along with a backup goalie.
They do need one, and if one is attainable without giving up a ton of assets..they should. I'm not sure Ersson is able to play 60 games or so, in a season. Come playoff time (there, I said it), he might be burned out. However, when the team gets 40 shots on an opposing netminder, and only scores a goal..is that a goaltending problem? No. That has happened to often this year - losing 2-1, and the Flyers get 40+ shots. They also need more top end offensive talent.
If we trade Seeler...which, yeah, if he turned down 2 years, $2.5 mil then I think he is gone.. and Walker, I want a 1st and a 3rd back..minimally. I like Seeler, he's the one reliable guy that always works hard and defends well, and not just with his shot blocking ability. I won't like seeing him go.
It's cliche to say, but I'll say it, anyway. The team works very hard.
They just lack enough top end white collar scoring talent, but they are definitely trending upward. and are a surprising playoff team. They are more fun to watch and likeable, than they've been in recent years. The only frustrating thing is they get a lot of shots in most games, and don't generally bury nearly enough chances. I didn't have 'playoff team' on my Flyers bingo card, this year. I was wrong about the Tortorella hire. He's done a very good job.
Unless I get a really good, young player and a high level prospect MINIMAL, I don't even consider moving him. If Dallas offered something like Wyatt Johnston and a first round pick for TK, I would have to seriously think about it, but I still doubt I would do it.
I hear ya. They need Ersson to play a little better, but when Bedard's out there..they can't get caught unaware and flat-footed defensively. Drysdale, for God's sake..stay on your skates, and if you don't, you better make sure the forward your playing, is shooting the puck.
Fifteen shots by the Flyers, but not a lot of really high quality chances. They need to be more aware of Bedard's speed and the stretch passes..they tightened up a little better, in the last five minutes of the first.
Great glove save by Ersson, on Raddysh. While I'm still not sure if he can carry the load and play 60 games a year, he more and more moves the needle toward me thinking he can, by the day. Sanheim scores on a nice play, as TK causes traffic in front.
