  1. too bad we can't dress the glen falls phantoms tomorrow, i say we rest everyone with a nick or scratch, let the wilkes barre penguins play the phantoms in the consul center, and we can keep on winning when it matters not sure what to do about the goalie situation i think sending either of our keepers into a shooting gallery will not help. I do not care about saturday, i want 4 more wins against that team after april 10.
  2. well i mean , i'm not going out an buying a dubinsky sweater tomorrow, simply because they are a new york team, i'm just sayin' if the flyers get bumped out of the playoffs and the rags are still playing, i'd proxy them... them and the preds.
  3. i knew it ! the WMDs are in Mario's garage.. reported !
  4. @Earle'sGaffe i think the fact that Avery was banished to Rochester, might have something to do with what Torts thought of him too. @B21 the context of the Milbury quote regarding the concussions is important here, when i read and later heard that, i took it to mean Sidney has had his share of concussions and that now that he's got the clean bill of health he's not going to engage in the scrums if he can avoid it. i didn't think that Milbury was making light of 87's concussions but actually using them to further make his point... now what Ray Shero chose to comment on if it is indeed the same quote as the one i'm thinking about, (which is the 35 concussion comment) shows me he a.) didn't get it or b.) was looking to manipulate the conversation for his own purposes.
  5. @B21 I've always operated using the philosophy of "if 3 people tell you you're drunk, you go lay down"... I think @terp is correct to point out that there is a perception problem with the Pens, throughout the league.
  6. it's hard for me to work up a good hatred for the Rangers, I like Fonzi, they compete for every inch of ice, their goaltender is terrific, and pretty cool ,, they play the game hard but clean, and seemed like decent people on 24/7. if they wouldn't be the Rangers i'd probably keep my eye on them in a good way. good for torts for calling it like he sees it.
  7. Sorry it's about Sydney Crosby and why we all love him soooo much ! Sorry I cannot access the sarcasm font... Last I heard Grossman was day to day, and Daniel's back was spasming on wednesday
  8. @flyercanuck i cut the young man some slack he's from the NY part of New Jersey, so i'm sure he has all kinds of unsavory tastes & habits to overcome.
  9. i hope this is posted tongue firmly planted in cheek. there are 24 hours in a day, you can't be rehabbing for all of them. this sanctimonious crap about guys drinking a beer is for 8 year old girls.
  10. @aziz lol i really like the 1920-40's architecture that has very strong presence in the city skyline, there are some good restaurants Euclid ave was a fun party spot back in the day... i think it is one of America's cooler midwestern cities. what can i say ... i liked there, I like Pittsburgh too...shhhh.
  11. @B21 no i actually don't care a whole lot about it, it was unfortunate briere was hurt and that's really the end of it, if this were the flyers vs the oh i don't know phx coyotes that hit doesn't take place in the same situation, because of a rivalry there needed to be a message sent. whatever. the pens weren't coming back from 3 down in those 63 seconds, that check wasn't necessary. it does look good on youtube though. I don't know what laviolette was thinking send out mash unit simmonds and briere in that situation, i blame our coach as much as i do vitale, it doesn't make vitale a "classy guy" though i don't think your team matches up very well with my team with a full quiver , which, now thanks to that hit and the unfortunate hit on grossman we don't have , we'll just have to rely on one of our good young guys instead of a proven playoff performer, and our shut down d man, but our young guys have proven themselves to be up to the task.
  12. the rock and roll hall of fame has that bass guitar next to that album cover, it is one of the cooler things at that museum that has 1000's of" holy **** look at that " displays. it is worth checking out if you ever have the opportunity. Cleveland is a pretty cool city to boot.
  13. I just want the Flyers to beat those bunch of reprobate animal molesters/social security cheats in the playoffs... i don't care about this spouting off in the press crap. I like the players in the orange sweaters are saying diddly/pooh
  14. @B21 "clean" and "classless" aren't mutually exclusive, watch family guy occasionally you'll see all kinds of "clean" yet "classles" dialogue... i'm not bagging on family guy either, i think the pre 2011 episodes are fantastic. at the end of the day briere's regular season was ended by a 4th line scrub on a big hit during a game in which the outcome was decided. you're lips would be flapping if jody shelly had done that to jordan staal and don't act like they wouldn't. it was a textbook check . that had no bearing on the outcome of the contest.
  15. everything i've read has said suter and carle are about the same player, so for me i don't want to pay carle 6.5+ so there's my input on suter, too expensive and will make carle look like nik lidstrom on this board if he plays "his game" which is the same as Carle's. kubina if the price is right gives us a right hand shot and some veteran savvy and good size. but not for more than 2 years. bourdon ...gus... have built in disadvantages, manning might become something. i'd like to see grossman resigned as would everyone else, i don't want to give up 3 roster players for Weber nor do i want another 15 year contract on the books. i'm not sure what the answer is but as much as i would love to have weber on this team as it's leader i think the price will be too steep. i don't want suter so that leaves what jackman in st louis ? subban in mtl ? i just don't know. nothing sounds like . boom there's the ticket.
  16. @TedZep I missed the first period, and am not one to outwardly complain about officiating (other than my inherent hatred for any sporting official) but that was about the worst called game i've seen in a long time, there were two wildly dangerous slashes from simmonds.... no call, a wonderful dive from timmonen that did get called, the schenn non boarding call, the high stick to simmonds grill and the talbot roughing you mentioned were complete head scratchers, as was the phantom Rangers penalty around the 5 minute mark in the 3rd..... were the calls that were made make ups from the calls that were missed...? that was atrocious .
  17. @Vanflyer well the 87 team that took edmonton to game 7 is the top, the Lindros/Leclair team that lost to the Devils in 00 is in there, the recchi roenick primeau team in 04 that lost to the bolts in the ecf, that team had a lot of character and toughness, I liked the Richards Carter Umberger team that lost to the pens in 08/09 too. i was too young to appreciate the cup winning teams, and just on the cusp of getting it when the refs stole the cup in 80 vs the islanders. so those teams while great don't have a place in my memory. anyway i've really enjoyed watching this bunch .
  18. I like my Pu$$ie belongs to Daddy ... holy smokes is that funny. thanks for a good laugh
  19. this is fun for us fans... i hope the players are concentrating on beating the penguins to the puck and winning every 1 on 1 battle, then they can send those do uche nozzles back to nova scotia, and mother russia for a long summer of soul searching and contemplation.
  20. my only hope for this, is sunday's fun doesn't mirror , talbot's throwdown with carcillo for them in 09/10 get them all fired up, let those dou che nozzels run around not paying attention to the game. we'll take the 4 wins. the biggest problem the Pens have is they don't have our depth and know it. we are a bad match up for them,
  21. beat me by a minute @canoli !
  22. the other thing that people aren't mentioning about these young guys is they seem to like playing together and being team mates. whatever the outcome of this season, this version of the flyers will be in the top 5 when it comes to my favorites, they don't quit, they have fun, they're fast and tough and they'll be together for another couple of years. it has been fun to watch them grow this season.
  23. @Vanflyer i saw that too, that line was beginning to gel and really grind teams, they were nasty on the cycle and were justthisclose to putting some serious points on the board. maybe Daniel Briere's injury opens that spot up for JvR and Schenn slides back to his natural center position and we see them put it together.
  24. to me the best revenge would be to send them to the golf course, bath house and back to mother russia. they cannot beat a team that matches their depth let alone has better players 1-9, and guess what, the flyers have better players 1-9 once you get past their great centermen (and even then i'd take giroux over staal and crosby) i think the flyers win the match-ups talent wise. michelck and niskanen are okay but exploitable and orpik is good but he can be taken wide and doesn't have the wingspan to stop fast players. letang is damn good but he wants to be a tough guy and gets taken out of his skating game pretty easily. we're a bad match-up for them.
