  1. I love these past two trades.......We HAVE great Scroers on the Flyers. Jagr, Giroux, Read, and we have Role players on this team Cotourier,JVR,Simmonds, And Now we have stay at home defenceman, Grossman and Kubina, We have plenty od scoring so we dont need to worry about the Dfenceman who is ginna Score, we need the defenceman who could care less about scoring ,but wont allow the other team to get a shot on goal. THIS will allow Bryz and Bobs to play better because thier workload will be much easier. i was a season ticketholder during the Cup season of 1973-74, we had shutdown defenceman like Joe Watson, Jim Watson, Moose Dupont and Larry Goodenough. So the opposition was LUCKY to get 12 shots a game and those shots were LOW percentage. No Wonder Bernie had 12 shutouts, My Dog could have gotten 12 shutouts with that defence. So Enjoy it Flyers fans...good times begin RIGHT NOW. And if Proger comes back next season, thats even more to the good.

  2. i ran that question through my mind last night and came up with only ONE TEAM. The New York Islanders. We may remember they signed a guy named Rick DIPietro to a big dollar long term contract. DiPietros issue has been injuries, So think of it If the Islanders Bit, they have Bryzgalov Sharing the duties with Nabokov and i believe these two once were teammates on the west coast. On the Flyers end its "Quick" find another goalie to accompany Bobs for now and We have Faith that Dipietro will get better physically because we already know he is better than Bryz between the pipes. ....but then thats just my opinion, you asked the question and thats all I could come up with.. Both the Islanders and Flyers are STUCK, with Similar Quagmires, but at least this way Bryz wont hear any more Boo's The Nassua Colliseum is Empty most of the Time, not enough people there for an Audible Boo

  3. Lately i have found a CHaT that is active on here every time the Philadelphia Flyers play a game and all the Members of the FLYERS FORUM on this website are there when a game is LIVE. But what about OTHER NHL teams. Like at this moment NBC is showing the Blues vs Blackhawks, is there the same type of chat for those teams? or is this just something that Someone in the Flyers Forum created ? I would realy like to become involved in more chats, I just dont know where they are.

  4. I went to the Predators page on facebook and posted the Flyers fans Want of either Weber or Suter, this is what i was told. Webers Numbers drop off drastically without Suter and Suters Numbers drop off drastically without Weber, So any team going for ONE is a fool, you will need Both. Now it becomes a Cap issue if you wanna do that. So the Preds will make out like a bandit. If one goes they will get some good AND SIGNED players in return

  5. they should be working on making sure they are all clean and within the rules. How in the world is a player of his calibur going to be useful if he isn't hitting? He certainly isn't lighting up the goals column on the score sheet. He's an energy guy who's best aspect is his physical play. He has hockey skills which help but the main attraction here is his hits and occasional fight. Besides. What's the point of dressing the guy if he's only going to get 5-8 min a game and is being instructed to only throw one body check per period? just plain stupid if you ask me.

Keep the style, just work out the timing issues that may be what is sending him to the box. His hits are clean, they al aren't timed right so he's getting calls against. And I'd really like to see refs call all players equal. He definitely wasn't getting a fair shake in the early part of the season. I saw a lot of ticky tack calls go against simply because he was the "AHL call up that is known for physical play" so they call him early and often to send a message, even if most of the calls wouldn't be made if he was an NHL regular.

Bob Kelly should give these guys a seminar of how to hit and not get caught

  6. Hurricanes sign Gleason to four-year extension

The Carolina Hurricanes announced Monday they have signed defenseman Tim Gleason to a four-year, $16 million contract extension.

The deal will pay Gleason $3.5 million in 2012-13, $4.5 million in 2013-14 and 2014-15 and $3.5 million in 2015-16.

"We thank Tim for choosing to stay with the Hurricanes long term," GM Jim Rutherford said in a statement released by the team. "He is one of our core players, someone who brings character and leadership to our locker room, along with being a key piece on the ice. This is a very important signing for our team going forward."

Gleason is off the market but his partners arent.......Brian Allen and Joni Pitkanin

  7. Seems like everyone mentioned before it off the market now. I can't see the Preds trading either guy now because they have become buyers.

I can see going after Suter at the end of the season though, but they'll keep him for a cup run.

Is there anyone else out there? I used to hear Bogosian's name mentioned as a potential D acquisition for Philly. Do you think he'd be available?

What about Brian Allen of the Hurricanes he is a UFA in July like Suter
  8. the Flyers thought they had a strong defense and the acquisition of Bryz coupled with the Pronger led strong defense was supposed to bail out the lack of offense we were supposed to have traded away and allow the forwards to get used to playing together. Things have certainly changed since the start of the season but the Flyers thought they were fine on D in the offseason.

Carle? Timonen ? fine on defence? I need Coffee
  9. to answer doom 88, The Flyers have some better minor leaguers now and thats why this injury bug hasnt affected them as much, plus I think Peter Laviolette has Taught his Phantom Coaches about his style of Hockey. Now its Taught in Adirondack as well, I think the Addition of Riley Cote helped there. So when an injury hits its not as bad as before

And For Poulin 20........I disagree on Schenn...........Forwards are suposed to be Good Defencively also and thats where Schenns problem is, he is Very weak defencively. Now Mark Recchi was Weak defensively also, but his Offencive numbers Compensated, thats not the case with Schenn

  10. Yes, your guesses are correct THIS IS GUMMY, Your friend Leach 27 and I post together over at the facebook Flyers page and he told me about and also invited me here.He also told me many of the philly.com people were here. So i decided to sign up. a Few Things have Changed in my Life. I no longer live in Exton PA. In September 2010 I moved to Winston-Salem NC. Even though I am Still a Very Avid Flyers fan. I have been to Quite a few NHL games at the RBC Center in Raliegh NC, and the Hurricanes have kind if become a Second favourite team. So i have opinions that i may post about the Flyers trying to aquire a defenceman thing. The canes have Tim Gleason and Brian Allen. Where I would rather give you Joni Pitkanin, I know where that conversation would go. http://hurricanes.nhl.com

  11. Thank You Jammer. Until yesterday I didnt even know about this group. "Leach27" and I post together over at Facebooks Flyers page. And he told me about and invited me here. Told me a lot of the Philly.com people moved here. So I signed up. A few things have Changed in my life. I no longer live in Exton PA. In September 2010 I moved to Winston-Salem North Carolina. Even though I am still an Avid Flyers fan I have had the oppertunity to attend quite a few games at the RBC Center in Raliegh NC So as a "second" team i Also Like the Hurricanes.

  12. The Flyers Knew they had a weak defence going into this season, they obtained Bryzgalov to bail out the weak defence, if you remember we also had a weak defence in front of Ron Hextall and he bailed them out Day after day. To a Cetain extent Bobrovsky has bailed the defence out. But for his 51 Million Dollars Bryzgalov has not. Take the 2 home games vs Boston for example. in December we were all appaled that Bryzgalov gave up 6 goals in a 6-0 defeat. Then Came January 22nd. I was in the Facebook Flyers Newsgroup at the time. People were posting how good Bryzgalov was doing in that game. My reply was "wait a minute, its only the second period." Now we know as an End result, Bryzgalov gave up 5 goals in regulation and then another 2 in the shootout. So technically, the december game was better. Its time our goalie maybe spends some time in Adirondack, and learns his position again. It worked for another goalie in the 1980s and it will work for him.
