if that's the case, i think that's lame. respect the office and the symbolism of the event. it's not the time, nor place, to make a political statement. he draws unnecessary attention to himself as well... which as a teammate is also pretty lame. that's supposed to be a special event for them... part of the spoils of winning the cup. i truly hope this is not why he chose not to go.

i think this is dead on rad. i think he came in a bit naive about the philly media. he'd heard about it, but thought it'd be different for him. well, it might be... it's worse. carchidi is an ass. do readers really want our reporters challenging athletes and pushing their buttons? panach with richards and who knows who else. just tell the story of the game and get your necessary quotes. reporters should be sideline to the story, not injecting themselves into it. philly reporters often cross that line.

i noticed him get hit several times... many were taking a hit to make a play and they were somewhat off camera. who knows which one it was, but i even remarked to my wife that i can't recall seeing lil paul mccartney getting beat up so much. he's usually too slippery.

tell me about... he's on my fantasy team and i've been waiting for him to breakout all year. since i'm watching him pretty closely in most games, it seems to be he's not being paired up with complimentary line partners. that seems to be the biggest thing. but, he's also probably pressing a lot right now because he hasn't had that much success. he's not going to the areas where he's had success most, like behind the net. it would seem simmonds would be a good fit for him because he drives the net, but no offense to max talbot, but max isn't the playmaker or pure scorer that line needs.

I know I'm behind on this thread right now, so there's no telling how much bryz is making in this argument by now, but bryz is not the highest paid goalie by any measure. I am not here to stick up for him or the contract. ATM, it seems to be a failure regardless of how it's looked at. BUT, how has it been determined that he's the highest paid? Dipietro has a 15yr $4.5m cap hit. Pretty sure that's over $51m. Luongo 12yr $5.33m. 6 goalies have a higher cap hits this year. So, by cap year... By total contract... He is not the highest paid. It has no bearing on anything at all that he's been weighted $10m the first year(except haters gonna hate). Unless you can prove his Ferrari shopping has affected his play. I'll stick to what cannot be argued at this point... He's pretty much sucked and so does his contract. No matter what he's being paid... He's overpaid. Makes me sick that Boucher had better numbers. i'm not sure the flyer's management is under the illusion that a stanley cup is in the cards this year. however, making a move for suter this year makes sense for a number of reasons. if the cost isn't too high, the flyers have exclusive neg rights before his UFA begins. that could save them some money if he enters the open market and they wanted to bid for him that way. it all depends on what we'd have to give up. if that cost is too high, then they stand pat. it's just blatantly clear that this team is handicapped without a physical crease clearing D man who can play all kinds of minutes. if we could acquire that, we are that much closer to being a contender.

am i the only one who's not FOR acquiring johnson? he's a serious minus player of late. i don't think he'll just up and become a norris contender because he's on OUR team. i do not want him. there's a reason LA has been dangling him. he's expendable and their looking for suckers to bite.

It IS sad. You should be able to go with your jersey. Expect good natured ribbing... Sure. That's still sporting. Fighting, assaulting... That's not. What's also sad here is that many people, many of our own board members, are exhibiting the old blame the victim mentality. This, in a way, is excusing what happened. I don't buy that, and I don't like it. It should not be excused and you shouldn't simply say it was their fault. If its common sense that you should get assaulted because you are wearing the opposing team's jersey after a big game... Well, that's the saddest comment of all here.

i'm not trying to completely recuse briere(lil paul mccartney), but he hasn't had the same line pairing for more than like 3 games. they aren't finding him chemistry since fartsmell is off his line. i firmly believe his 2nd half will be better than his first. but, of course no one cares about the playoffs right now. we'll talk to you again if they make the playoffs and i'm sure you'll eat your words here.

for those of you that are defending what happened here... go F yourselves. there is never a reason that words should cause someone to get violent. these were some drunk flyer fans looking for trouble cause they thought their fat asses had beer muscles. while i don't condone talking back to thugs like this, you can hardly blame the victims here. it's very clear who started the violence. i forget who mentioned it here, but they are absolutely right... the philly PD should have a presence out there on big game nights. maybe not every game, but certainly something as big as the WC. it's irresponsible of philly govt to not recognize potential situations like this. and for you F*cks who suggest they never should have gone down there with rangers jerseys in the first place. wtf... this is america you assholes. you should be able to go wherever you want wearing whatever you want.

that's what i'm most excited about. if that line can keep that chemistry going... we've got a new 2nd line. unfortunately, that would leave briere the odd-man out. i love briere, but as much as i do... they just haven't found him the right line combinations here this year. he's had so many line partners that i haven't seen him have any consistent chemistry. i hate to say it, but if they really wanna make a big move for a good D man, briere might be a piece they ask to waive his NMC. i'd rather see him stay, but they've gotta find a way to get him some good linemates.

he has surprisingly good speed. he used that effectively last night. i think he's a model player for the next generation of 'enforcers' in this league. we'll have to come up with a new name for them, though, because they're not really enforcers. the kid's got skills too, though. we can only hope that tocchet takes him under his wing here and learns him how to model his career after him.

he's been a great great player this year. he's doing all the right things and he's making himself very valuable to the team. he's been gritty, getting in the other teams face(and heads), and getting to the front of the net. but, that pass to JVR last night... i swear that was a hail mary to the front of the net. lol. he never looked and he doesn't have THAT kinda vision. but, anyway... the guy i call Chris Fartsmell has been really good this year. here's hoping he keeps it up.
