Yep, the the Conn Smythe team is still available.

I would run three teams, and competitively too, if need be, but my preference is to return to running just two.

If @Bakanekimiwa wants the spot, it's his.
Draft day is just three days away, so I'd imagine a decision would need to come quickly if he wants to draft his own squad.

Thanks so much for the offer TFG... alas, I was away from the interwebs since Fri. Oh well.. good luck to ALL your teams.

  2. With three first round losses in a row

    The Blues probably fire Hitch

Who will have a lot more time

For golf with the wicked witch.

I'm sure she's on some STL board somewhere explaining to them how they just don't get it.

  3.   This might be one of the stupidest threads I've ever read on here. A lot of guessing and conjecture going on about Giroux first of all. To think he has a problem based on one night of drunken misadventure....that is taking a pretty big leap. It's impossible to draw these types of conclusions based on this one night. Now there is speculation he was drinking when he hurt himself golfing?? Really??....hey, maybe...maybe not, but until anything is proven, it's all conjecture. I'm willing to give G the benefit of the doubt.

Does anyone care G is a 3.5 years younger than Weber, and is entering his prime? Our offense would be PUTRID without G. He *is* the straw that stirs the drink. How about we show some patience, and just see if one of these 5 or 6 excellent prospects turn out to be our stud d-man we have been searching for?? I admire Weber, he is great  in his own right, but the age difference AND the fact we finally have some wicked young D prospects of our own tells me to sit back and stay patient.

One might call it 'conjecture' to make the supposition of a drinking problem based on one incident, but it's also known as an opinion. An opinion based on experience and the fact that this 'one night of drunken misadventure' led him to the drunk tank for the night.

Ending up in jail because of drinking would be considered a problem... from where I stand.

  4. csnphilly is making a huge deal out of it http://www.csnphilly.com/video_content_type/what-does-giroux-arrest-mean-his-future

I get it does not look good for the organization but hell when Kan assaulted a Cab Driver heck in was not on the new as much as this tom foolery

I said this in another thread... but, to me... it's concerning. You can dismiss it as harmless tom foolery and maybe it will be just that. Time will tell. However, G is the face of your franchise and mixing it up with the law while drunk is just a bad bad sign man. This certainly points to a problem with alcohol which tends to get a lot worse before it gets better. IF it gets better. Now, I'm not saying he's an alcoholic who needs to be saved before he kills himself, but ... it does point to a problem that needs to be addressed now.

  5. I dunno maybe its just me, but aside from a never ending string of jokes, is this a huge deal? I don't know why he did what he did, but in the grand scheme of things....

Well, it might not be. But, then again... it might. Alcohol is a very slippery slope that anyone who drinks is on. You might be at the top of the slide now, but it's very easy to fall in. I am a little bit concerned tbh. G had that 'golf' episode last year... we might now guess that a few drinks were imbibed at the time. I mean... does a rational human break his club and his wrist while playing golf?

I think, that if the Flyers are smart, they will be encouraging G to get some private counseling now. butt gate... this could just be an isolated incident... but it might also be a sign that G is headed down a bad path.

  6. Yeah. I would imagine. But it's still kind of a given, isn't it? A guy with a NMC has to be given some motivation, doesn't he? "you're welcome to stay. Enjoy Rinaldo as your linemate for your 8 minutes a game."

None of this is to say I didn't enjoy reading the article. I did. I'm glad it was posted here. I just thought the title was a little "no crap."

well well, this just brings up the age old topic of: how much should one really make of the NMC candy that homer was handing out. many posters have pointed to those NMC as the ultimate handcuffs for this team. well, this is apparently not the case. sure, hexy's options may have been limited, but they couldn't have been THAT limited for Hartnell to be shipped off to CBJ.

  7. TSN and Eklund, ;) are reporting Moulson really wants to go back to Buffalo? Is he just money hungry, there has to be better options out there for him.

Think he'd be a good fit on Giroux's wing?

This is probably just clever positioning for a bigger payday. Buffalo is a long way from the cap floor! If anyone's got the history and ability to overpay... that's his best chance right there.

  8. Tsn.ca has an interesting video that seems to be definitive proof that the Pens tanked to get Lemeuix. Check out the sidebar videos.

Us Flyer fans have been saying it for years, but it's something else to have this little mini doc delve into it and what it reveals seems to be a humongous pink elephant that is comical to deny. The Pens most certainly tanked to get Mario.

I'm sure this topic will be moved or something, but there's a very deliberate reason I did not post this in Pens forum. That would be explicit trolling. This is a topic for us Flyers fans and I would hope it would stay here. If this is not the spirit of the forum that the moderators would like to have here, well then I think my time is done here. This was the spirit of the original board... talk about everything hockey, but mostly how it relates to the Flyers. By moving things around that aren't specifically about the Flyers, I think we've lost that.

  9.   The huge difference between the Flyers Carter and the present day Carter is one thing....and one thing only...his work ethic. Secondary thing is he seems to be able to use his teammates better, and in general, sees the ice better.

Getting traded to the Blue Jackets should be enough to wake anyone's career mindedness up. I think Carter got the kick in the butt he seemed to need. Unfortunately for the Blue Jackets, that just didn't manifest itself until he got clear of Columbus.

  10. Let a player develop. Weird concept.

Carter had plenty of time to develop in Philly. I don't think the board fully appreciates what a good coach Suter is. it's not coincidence that he's able to turn around most players he coaches. Marian Gaborik says hi.

  11. I don't really see him as a star. I feel like he's more of a flash in the pan right now. He's having a strong PO, but he's got a pretty simple role right now. Get the puck to Selanne and crash the net. Same on the PP... make space for Getz and crash the net. The Ducks have a lot of weapons and they're making good use of his size, but I just don't see him having sustained success after this. we'll seeeeeeee.... but, he's a role player dude.

    also, fwiw... they're currently LOSING>
