True, but it's still just cap space.
If the Flyers were at a point at which they needed space because UFA1 is coming out, then that's one thing. But that's not where they are.
After next season they drop Atkinson, Johansen, and Petersen. They also get TDA's buyout space back. That's $15M right off the top.
I'm not "happy" with the contract. I just don't see it as a harbinger of doom.
They have more money than they're spending on Fedotov in dead cap space for Petersen in Lehigh.
This organization isn't looking to bank cap space at the moment.
The same group that adamantly 100% insists that their treatment of Hayes had absolutely nothing to do with Gauthier bailing on them.
You're not wrong. It's just it's three dimensional Calvinball with this franchise.
They need to buy out Johansen and Atkinson. That's the correct move in this rebuild.
Opens up roster space, not much cap pain over two years that don't matter anyway.
Building for Michkov.
Hey, man, I'm just following the maxim of "if the glass is half empty, add ice - it's hockey."
And, yes, that's a bourbon reference.
And then there's this...
So, let me get this straight. Mr. "Can't Compare 22 and 27" is comparing Trevor Zegras straight up to Connor McDavid?
Put your analyst on danger money, baby.
Torts would staple Zegras to the press box in Week Two. His hockey name in Philly would be "Haysey".
To the ones that do, just want until you see him play "defence".
Three young players who are friends given the keys to the kingdom with big money contracts and are seen as the foundation of the team going forward.
Will they have condos in Old City?
Asking for a fanbase.
No it isn't. I just did it.
I think the contract is a significant overpayment.
I'll see how Fedotov does and if he's Petersen-level then we've got a tank on our hands!
I'm guessing his significant concussion history didn't thrill the Flyers?
Kid has 164 games in four years and three major concussions.
"Often injured" Jamie Drysdale has 17 fewer games in slightly less time.
Not sure one is a clear pick over the other.
One thing's for sure, if they'd taken Byram there'd be somebody saying that Drysdale was on the table.
There was once a goalie that was 3.02/.899 in the regular season and 8.11/.722 in the playoffs...
... the year before Homer traded Sergei Bobrovsky.
He then put up 1.94/.932 in the KHL and 2.00/.922 in the NHL the next year.
He's now a two time Vezina winner backstopping a Cup favorite this year.
Can you do that for half the money?
Yeah, I quoted my sources, acknowledged my playoff/regular season mistake, and posted new numbers earlier in the thread, thanks.
Actual KHL site stats.
I'm not at all there yet. Seeler, Fedotov, and The Missing Fourth Rounder aren't the end of all things.
Yet.
It's when they throw everything up in the air to sign Reinhart and Guentzel and then sign Zaitzev and Barrie.
Trust, but verify.
I was going with here:
https://en.khl.ru/stat/leaders/1218/sv_pct/
Which I now see is playoff stats...
so here for regular season:
https://en.khl.ru/stat/leaders/1217/gaa/
16th
https://en.khl.ru/stat/leaders/1217/sv_pct/
27th
But, yeah, puzzling...
The window was never open. It was nailed shut, boarded over, and covered in stucco.
He's not going anywhere, ever. He's a lifetime Flyer.
They're going to put his statue where Kate Smith used to be.
Thing is, he's a pretty average goalie in the KHL. 13th in SV% and 12th in GAA (or reversed, I forget).
I'm more than willing to ask that question, but the $3.25M says they believe he's a real deal.
Briere seems to allude that next season might not be as good as this one (). He's on board with the idea that they're not "there" yet and seems to agree that they're not particularly "close."
This organization needs to be setting itself up for Michkov's arrival, whether or not he gets here in 25-26... And at the moment they seem to be setting up for just that with all of nine skaters signed for that season.
