  1. Kovalev was a world class generational talent without the motivation to match. He could play solo keep away and dance through an entire team without once losing the puck. I loved watching his time with the Pens when he was trying to win. The problem was it wasn't every game, let alone every shift. A truly frustrating situation.

  2. Maybe it's similar in Canada then and they held him overnight so he could sleep it off and didn't file any charges because... come on, who wants to deal with that in court?

They may be permitted more time to decide and use it as a discretionary tool. Here to hold you like that you'd at least get a citation for "public drunkenness". Their system may give police more power than ours.

  3. You can hold someone in custody for up to 24 hours without charges.

Not in most states. I don't know them all but most have a much shorter rule. Pennsylvania has a six hour rule. Most states have similar timelines for charges to be filed. There are exceptions that can be authorized by various issuing authorities, but you can't just grab someone and put them in a cell for 24 hours without some charge filed. Hell Pennsylvania only allows arrested drunks to be held for eight and that's WITH charges filed. The federal laws are much more accepting, but states restrict it. And if you do detain someone for six hours or even one hour you had better be able to justify it. If they were out in a jail cell you better file charges!

  4. In the US they wouldn't say he was arrested, they'd say he was detained.

Originally i had assumed it was the old "mistaking a real cop for a stripper dressed as a cop" gag.

The girl in the photo does look a lot like his girlfriend in those photos.

I don't seriously think there was anything like the guy seriously trying to get it on with a cop.

Even if G was gay, and drunk, Aliens possessing his body and making him do it makes about as much sense as a guy trying to seduce a cop by grabbing his ass.

Gay or straight (and evidence seems to say straight) 99% sure it was some drunken gag that only makes sense if you're drunk to other people who are drunk.

Detained is incorrect. If you handcuff someone at a scene, keep them overnight in a cell and DON'T file charges here you violate their rights and buy them a new lifestyle.

  5. Because he has to realize he has no future here. The Flyers made it abundantly clear that he doesn't fit into the team's plans. So if I am Vinny, I will have to ask myself: do I want to keep languishing on 4th line averaging 6 minutes a game here, or is a better option for me is to go someplace else, which may not be the best city in the world, but where I have a chance to feel significant again? I guess that really depends on what kind of person he is.

I think Flyers fans have made it abundantly clear, not the organization. Hextall continues to speak as if they're receiving calls not making them so much. Many comments about starting the season with him, etc etc... It may be to keep from appearing weak with him but still, not abundantly clear what their intentions are.

  6. what a waste of a 1st round pick. So, the jettison neal (equally a douche) and get another douche. Hmmm, money money.

I guarantee you if Tocchet can't keep him playing like he did in Tampa he'll be jettisoned. Only good side is he's got the potential to be dirty in defense of Sid rather than against him. Lol

  7.  He was so drunk he thought the officer was Crosby and was just trying to hand his A$$ to him once again like he always does.

Your first post and that's how you waste it?  I mean...  apparently he was trying to HAND it repeatedly.  And can you imagine how many times it would take before some local cop decides to arrest a local hero?  Wait...  that's it...  this is all about the NHL punishing the Flyers.  This would NEVER have happened if it weren't the Flyers.  Giroux is being unfairly punished.  No wait... he's just misunderstood.  ALL officials are against the Flyers.  I mean cops are officials sort of, right?  It's the jersey in his closet.  Wait... get that out of the closet.  I mean the sweater, not Giroux...  what?  Giroux in the closet?  Oh my...

  8. The Caps signed Oprik to a (unbelievable) five years at $5 million each.  That's just crazy!

The Caps signed Matt Niskanen for $5.75 million per year.  Not unreasonable considering the most recent free agency signings.  All the more confusing since they just had a lockout over contract amounts and the costs to the teams.  But the amount being reasonable doesn't make the 7 year term reasonable.  That's just crazy!

The Caps signed fourth liner/AHL journeyman Chris Conner to a two way contract for an undisclosed amount.

We'll make sure to see if they're interested in any other Penguins we don't want anymore or can't afford anymore.

By the way, the Orpik signing was dubbed worst signing of the day yesterday by NHL Tonight.
