  1. I think if you lessened the padding and got rid of the instigator rule then you would see fewer headshots/concussions. Right now the consequences of hitting someone in the head (or just plain hard) are not high enough. If you had less padding then someone would think 2 or 3 times before making that crushing hit. Also if that same someone had to face that other team's enforcer he would think yet again. From a league standpoint they need to be more consistent in calling penalties or suspensions. I hate the "superstars get the calls" mentality.
  2. I kind of forgot about Wellwood. Does he have any trade value at this point? I don't know how much he could bring in for us but I don't think I would mind parting ways with him. I'd rather see Wellwood go rather than any of the rookies currently playing on the Flyers.
  3. My wife has even noticed that Hartnell falls down alot less now than he used to. He has definitely been a different player this year!
  4. They should play Nash with Carter. Then he would only be a -9! (Btw I am being sarcastic with everything I posted in this thread).
  5. That is the most telling statistic!
  6. @Bertmega I don't know if any GM is dumb enough to take Bryz's contract. Let's keep our fingers crossed! The commentary last night suggested that Bob is getting an 8-10 game tryout. I think the job is now Bob's to lose.
  7. @radoran I was afraid that it was a little bit of both...
  8. @fan4ever I saw that! I actually felt bad for him. I also noticed the Flyers' announcers pushing Bob more as the #1. I think that sygnals the end of Bryz's stay here though I don't know how they move him.
  9. I agree that they should shut him down until he feels better. Do you think management is pushing him out there or is he pushing himself to go out and play through the injury?
  10. @Phillygrump I don't believe even Suter will get us to a Stanley Cup this year. I say ride out the team we have, allow them to gain experience and to mature together next season. This Flyers team has already surpassed my expectations for this season. If we want to be a serious cup contender we have to be patient and foster our young talent. I am sick and tired of watching the Flyers trade away youth for quick fixes.
  11. I honestly could care less about a poster boy for the league but this quote couldn't have been more wrong. The Flyers have had Clarke, Lindros and now Giroux. It doesn't seem to me that it is that rare for this organization to have a "league-wide" superstar.
  12. @doom88 Asham has a cap hit of $775k. He is a steal at that rate for what he provides.
  13. Agreed. I just hope we don't ship out any young talent (if this rumor proves to be true).
  14. @JackStraw I wasn't thinking of Schenn as a replacement for Carle as they are two different types of defensemen. I am wondering if they are interested in Schenn because they don't think they can sign Carle for the same cap hit. Carle make $3.4M and is likely looking for a raise in the off season. Schenn's hit is $3.5M for the next 4 years and that might be more palpable over time and might leave the team with the room they need to sign a 1/2 defensman.
  15. @Bertmega@JackStraw It's kind of weird how similar they look.
  16. http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/flyers/Could-Luke-Schenn-be-coming-to-Philly.html Do the Flyers need a 4-5 defensman? I think I am ok with the move if it is to replace Carle (who will be an UFA at the end of the season). We could fit him in under the cap. The question is what/who do you give up for this kind of move? Maybe it frees us up to trade Carle at the deadline?
  17. @Bertmega Matt Read is very much like the Gagne of old! I was thinking that too while I was watching him against Ottawa. @RonJeremy I would not want to see either JVR or Schenn go in a trade for a D-man. I am tired of watching the Flyers trade away youth. I'd rather trade Hartnell (as I believe we have enough offense). Of course that is pending Hartnell waiving his NTC (which isn't likely to happen).
  18. I know Schenn hasn't played alot of games but so far he is 51.6% on the faceoff and he looks confident taking them. I wouldn't want to remove him from the center position just yet.
  19. To this day I still don't understand why they let him walk. Asham is a great role player who can play on any line and stand up for his teammates.
  20. @Digityman That's the one. At about the 1:25 mark he mentions that he has not had the same level of confidence this year that he did last year. It was good to see him own up to it.
  21. Did anyone see JVR's post game interview? He did acknowledge his consistency issues and did say that he's actively working to improve. It's something you don't often see a pro-athlete own up to. He is aware of his performance so far and it sounds like he is actively trying to address it.
  22. I'll second that! I want this line to stay together for the next few games. It would be great to have yet another scoring line!
  23. @Vincent05 I agree. He's not having a good season at all (at least for him). He's on pace to score 20 goals this year. That's pretty bad for the salary he makes. He deserves more criticism than he gets. I just hope he can turn it on around playoff time.
  24. I got it during the black Friday sale on NHL.com. It was 50% off customization and another 16% off the total price. A WC blank was going for $140-ish at the time. I got my Lindros jersey for a little over $150 with free shipping. You can still make a custom jersey of any player you choose.
  25. That's why I went for a retired player. I have the WC jersey with an 88 and Lindros across the back. Another buddy of mine got a LeClair jersey.
